My Favorite Book Boyfriend with Shana Galen and Giveaway

Shana Galen is the bestselling author of fast-paced adventurous Regency historicals, including the RT Reviewers’ Choice The Making of a Gentleman. Her books are published all over the world and have been featured in the Rhapsody and Doubleday Book Clubs. She taught English at the middle and high school level off and on for eleven years. Most of those years were spent working in Houston's inner city. Now she writes full time. She’s happily married and has a daughter who is most definitely a romance heroine in the making.

Places to find Shana:

If there is a perfect hero, JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts) has created him. Smart, sexy, dangerous—all of these adjectives describe Roarke. But he’s also ridiculously rich, sweetly protective, and the consummate gentleman.

In love yet?

Here’s a little about Roarke. He’s a billionaire living in New York in the world of the 2050s. He’s Irish (have to love the accent, right?), and he has exquisite taste in everything from food to clothes to jewelry. He’s a mostly reformed criminal with black hair and amazing blue eyes. A bad boy with the soul of a poet. He can have any woman he wants, and the woman he wants is Eve Dallas.

If Eve didn’t scare me a little, or actually a lot, I’d tell her to move aside. Instead, I’ll just admire Roarke from the pages of Robb’s latest book. I’m giving away Naked in Death, the first book in the series and the book where Eve and Roarke meet. If you haven’t read the series, this is the place to start. If you have, you’ll enjoy re-reading the book that started it all and introduced my book boyfriend Roarke.

The first book of the In Death series, featuring New York City homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas and Roarke.

It is the year 2058, and technology now completely rules the world. But New York City Detective Eve Dallas knows that the irresistible impulses of the human heart are still ruled by just one thing-passion. When a senator's daughter is killed, the secret life of prostitution she'd been leading is revealed. The high-profile case takes Lieutenant Eve Dallas into the rarefied circles of Washing-ton politics and society.

Further complicating matters is Eve's growing attraction to Roarke, who is one of the wealthiest and most influential men on the planet, devilishly handsome . . . and the leading suspect in the investigation.

HER MYSTERIOUS PAST IS THE BEST REVENGE . . .

Fallon, the Marchioness of Mystery, is a celebrated courtesan with her finger on the pulse of high society. She's adored by men, hated by their wives. No one knows anything about her past, and she plans to keep it that way.

ONLY HE CAN OFFER HER A DAZZLING FUTURE . . .

Warrick Fitzhugh will do anything to protect his compatriots in the Foreign Office, including seduce Fallon, who he thinks can lead him to the deadliest crime lord in London. He knows he's putting his life on the line . . .
To Warrick's shock, Fallon is not who he thinks she is, and the secrets she's keeping are exactly what make her his heart's desire . . .

Yes Roarke! I love him and Eve together. I'm still trying to catch up in the series but it is so, so good!

*hangs head in shame* I haven't read this series nor have I read any Nora Roberts books. I think the sheer number of books in the In Death series intimidates me...just need to put my big girl panties on and take the plunge!

kipha said...

Nora Roberts~! I can't believe I haven't read her as JD Robb. Ah, Roarke sounds amazing~ I love myself a reformed bad boy with black hair and amazing blue eyes. And to say he has a soul of a poet too? I got to get on this wagon.

sheryl said...

I have never read anything by JD Robb. This sounds great, I love a man with an accent. I have been more into Paranormal and some Historical romance. I will have to give this a try, thanks

Unknown said...

Roarke has been a popular pick for a book boyfriend. I may have to reevaluate my choices. Fallon sounds worth investigating as well.

Amy said...

Yes, I think you are right. Roarke ist he perfect book boyfriend. He has the right amount of polish but isn't afraid to get down and dirty - with Eve or anyone that threatens him or what's his. I love that guy and need to read more of those books! I think I read 30 of them in a row since I only discovered them about a year ago. Great book boyfriend choice!

May said...

Yup... Roarke for sure... :) I have read the entire series because of Roarke and Eve. :) Not a big suspense or mystery fan either but a big Roarke fan! :)

krg said...

I read so many posts about Roarke but have never read that series. I really need to catch up! My daughter is the historical romance lover in the family so I would love to win for her, thank you!

Casey said...

I have never read any of the books about Roarke. Maybe i need to though! Would love to win this one and get the chance though!

I have read many posts about Roarke so I'm curious about the book and have added it to my read list. I have a huge collection of Nora Roberts books so I think I would enjoy her J D Robb books.

Janhvi said...

I am ashamed to say that I haven't read J D Robb yet though I have read Nora Roberts. I am super excited to meet the hero :) If You Give a Rake a Ruby sounds like a wonderful romance which I'd love to read :)
Thanks for the giveaway!

I wrote a book and named my hero Roarke, then found the Robb books. I changed the name. JD Robb rules.

Love, love, love Eve and Roarke :) Thanks for sharing!

Unknown said...

Sounds and looks like a very interesting read.

lorimeehan said...

I've not read any of Nora's J.D. Robb books but I've tons of her other books.
Shana I love your colorful covers. Do you get a lot of say in how the over is laid out?

Pam said...

Sounds like an interesting series!

Shana said...

Jess, I am always behind on the series, but that's okay. I always know it's there when I need a good read.

Shana said...

Oh, take the plunge, Timitra. You won't be sorry. NR is one of the best.

Shana said...

You will love him, Ki! Check it out :-)

Shana said...

Sheryl, I don't like paranormal much, but I don't mind sci fi futuristic. If you like that, you'll like JD Robb. It's a bit gritty, though.

Shana said...

Sebella, so many authors can't be wrong...

Shana said...

Amy, once you start reading the series, it's hard to put it down!

Shana said...

I'm the same way, May. I don't like gritty stories or violence, but that series is so good.

Shana said...

Good luck to you (for your daughter) krg. If you win, you can try the series!

Shana said...

Good luck, Casey. I think you'd enjoy the series.

Shana said...

You'd enjoy her, Ingeborg. If you like her NR stuff, this isn't much different. It's a little more violent.

Shana said...

Thanks, Janhvi. Don't be ashamed. We all have to start somewhere. I'm sure you've read authors I haven't.

Shana said...

Probably not a Roarke, sienny, but hopefully a great guy with his best characteristics.

Shana said...

Yeah, readers would think of JD Robb's Roarke if you did that. Too bad because it's a great name.

Shana said...

Me, too! Good luck with the giveaway

Shana said...

Thanks, Olga!

Shana said...

Lori, I often don't get a lot of say, but for IYGARAR, the designers did actually use my ideas.

Shana said...

It is, Pam. Hope you can give it a try.

Oh no Shana!! Not another fabulously sexy hero to drag me in! Ahh I can't take it anymore! But it does sound great! ;)

I love Nora Roberts, but have yet to read this series! I will definitely be adding it to my TBR list. And hopefully I will be able to start your latest book this weekend (while I'm on a kid-free vacation!) :)

Unknown said...

Lately, it is Valek from Maria Snyder's Study series.

It has been a long long long time since I read Nora Roberts and I have never read JD Robb. I will have to add it to my TBR list.

Unknown said...

ooh, Roarke sounds fab! I haven't read any of Nora Roberts' books as JD Robb but my mum has them all haha

Inacreus said...

Death Series very popular here in Indonesia. Me n my friends like it much n we never missed even just 1 book. Eve n Roarke had just stayed in our mind. You cant stop asking what would be happen in the next book. Thats why you need to have it complete. I love JD Robb as much as i love Nora Robert. It was funny, some of my friends didnt know its a same person. Hehe..

Hi Shana, have u ever think about writing suspense?

Beautiful Disaster said...

I love historical romance and can't wait to read this book :) I have read Nora Roberts but not as JD Robb. Will have to check it out. Thanks, Lori

Chrisbails said...

I have not read this series. I have heard great things about it, but have not checked it out. Gonna have to check out Roarke. My book boyfriend is Lord Adrian from Lord & Lady Spy. Dying for the next book. Him and Lady Sophia are great. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.

laurie said...

I have never read any of the books about Roarke. Maybe i need to though! Would love to win this one and get the chance though!

Shana said...

I know, I know! But Roarke is seriously worth the investment.

Shana said...

Kid-free vacation. I want one of those. I hope you enjoy the book :-)

Shana said...

See, I haven't read that series, Jen. Thanks for sharing.

Shana said...

That makes it easy to get started, Cerian!

Shana said...

I haven't really thought about writing suspense, Inacreus, because it's hard. I like adding some suspense to my books, but the elements I add are about as much as I want to struggle with that aspect of the craft.

Shana said...

Thanks! Good luck n the giveaway.

Shana said...

Aww! Adrian is your book boyfriend :-) Not long until TRUE SPIES now! (September)

Shana said...

Good luck! I know you'd be hooked, Laurie.

Gram said...

I love Rourke too, even if he is young enough to be my son. I'd love to win the first book in the series. I am in the middle of reading If You Give a Rake a Ruby - loving it so far!

lucy0326 said...

I've never read any of the j.d. Robb book mostly because I've always been drawn to historical romance more than anything. But he does sound sexy ;) and I give you my respect for being able to pick just one book boyfriend lol because I feel like I got a new one every other week :) but the main one that comes to my mind is Sebastian Viscount St. Vincent from Devil in winter by Lisa Kleypas there's always something about reformed rakes & bad boys.

Sue G. said...

I haven't read any of the J.D. Robb books, although I read most of her Nora Roberts books. Go figure! I can't wait to read her new one Whiskey Beach. And I absolutely love your covers in this series. Such pretty colors...very bold and bright!

Fedora said...

I'm embarrassed to say that while I love La Nora's books, I haven't yet read her JD Robb titles. But Roarke does sound like a dream :) I like the sounds of your new one--Warrick sounds like a rake with a heart--the best kind :)

Barbara E. said...

I've read a lot of Nora Roberts' books, but have never read the J.D. Robb books. I've heard a lot about them in the past, and after reading your comments Shana, I think I should get my hands on them. :D

Shana said...

It seems like the movie stars, heroes, and musicians keep getting younger and younger!

Shana said...

Lucy, Sebastian is also a favorite of mine. It was hard to pick just one. I have a feeling if Danielle had asked me on another day, I'd have chosen a different hero!

Shana said...

Thanks, Sue! Oh, Whiskey Beach does look really good :-)

Shana said...

Why are you embarrassed? I'm sure I haven't read all the book series you have. Now you have another to add to your list of options :-)

Shana said...

Barbara, if you already like NR, you'll like these. I bet your library has them, so if you don't win, you can try them out there.

jmcgaugh said...

I haven't read any of J.D. Robb's books, yet, though one of my book boyfriends is Cian from her Circle trilogy. I've seen lots of comments about Roark and definitely need to check him out!

Preet said...

Great choice!

God I loved Roarke. I stopped reading the series a while go, but I'm going to have to go back and start re-reading it soon. It's gonna take me a while to catch up!

Annwitch said...

I love the In Death series as well as her Nora Roberts books. I just finished If You Give a Duke a Diamond, wow what a great book. I am really looking forward to the next two in the trilogy.

Di said...

I've read 99% of Nora Robert's books, but haven't started the In Death series yet - it's definitely on my to do list

fsbuchler said...

Hi Shana, I have loved all of your heroes and am looking forward to reading "When You Give a Rake a Ruby" just as much as all the others so far. Also am waiting patiently for the sequel to "Lord and Lady Spy," the book that first introduced me to your wonderful books!

See you in Atlanta!

Linda said...

I've read her Morrigan's cross series which was good but not anything else.

Love YOUR books Shana. You write some pretty awesome heroes too!

fsbuchler said...

Oh, meaningful comment: I'm with you and Lucy on Sebastian Viscount St. Vincent from Lisa Kleypas' "Devil in Winter."

Meghan said...

To be honest, I will never understand why women love Roarke so much. I'm not a big Nora Roberts fan in the first place, but I try to give every book a fair shot. I've read the first two in the "In Death" series and really disliked both of them. I didn't find Roarke that appealing. Sure, he's rich and good-looking but so is almost every male hero in romance novels!
My book boyfriend is definitely Jamie Fraser from "Outlander." He's not rich, but what makes him so endearing is his innocence, raw passion and his compassion.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I've read some of J.D. Robb, and Nora Roberts - but don't remember a Roarke. Of course it's been awhile and I've read many books since. But I definitely would like to the J.D. Robb's book now.
And I'm interested in trying your book, If You Give a Rake a Ruby. I like discovering new authors, and finding new favorites.

I do not tweet and am not on twitter. Twitter & Pintrest just haven't *tweaked* my interst.

I haven't read this series yet but Roarke sounds like a great hero ;)

Thanks for the giveaway!

Aline Tobing said...

Hi Shana, I was surprised that you're a Roarke fan. I thought you prefer one of the Duke in historical romance LOL Anyway, I second your opinion. Roarke is indeed a perfect 'bad boy' hero, sometimes I thought he's too perfect :D

Shana said...

I think you'll be happy you started the series!

Shana said...

That's one of those series you can stop and start when the mood strikes. I'll read 3 in a row and then not another for 6 months.

Shana said...

So glad you liked WYGADAD!

Shana said...

Di, that's an impressive accomplishment. NR has like hundreds of published books!

Shana said...

I will be in Atlanta, and I'll probably have some swag for TRUE SPIES, which is the next Lord and Lady Spy book.

Shana said...

Linda, that one actually wasn't my favorite, but if you liked it, you'll like the In Death series. And thanks for the compliment, Linda!

Shana said...

I thought your last comment was meaningful :-) But I have to agree with you about Sebastian...sigh.

Shana said...

Meghan, I love Jamie too. He's my book boyfriend on Tuesday and Thursday. :-)

Shana said...

LOL, Donna! You can still win if you don't tweet. God luck to you!

Shana said...

Thanks for stopping by, and good luck!

Shana said...

Aline, I think Roarke is like a futuristic duke. And I like to shake things up with my reading. I often won't read historicals when i'm writing one (which is a lot of the time!).

Nora's human said...

Ah Roarke. He only gets better as the series goes on. He was sexy and interesting in Naked in Death, but only gets better as you get to know him. I know him well as I own and have read every single book in the series, and own (and read) every book she's ever published. I also confess to naming the cat Nora.

You have some interesting heroes too. You've recently made it onto my personal auto-buy list, and I am enjoying the new series.

Rcapo said...

I love Nora Roberts, but I've never read this series. I think the mystery/sci-fi aspect has always deterred me, I'm not a fan of either. Maybe it's time to read them, though; I really like your description of Roarke!

Mary Preston said...

Hi Shana, do you have trouble choosing titles?

Anonymous said...

Hi Shana, I used to read books written by Nora Roberts. Then I started to read my books in english and switched to romances. With time,I forgot her books! Is Roarke, lieutenant Eve Dallas's rich husband. If so, I started reading them in french and almost read 15 of her series. I liked the chemistry between this couple. I would love to start reading them again. thank you Shana for the giveaway!

Kathleen O said...

I have not read the JD Robb books, but I have Roarke mentioned around the blogs and chats... I love a good Irish gentleman, so now I know I have to read this book.. I have read many of Nora Roberts books. Of course I love your books too.. I have the first book in your Jewel series and I can't wait to read the rest.

WiLoveBooks said...

Yes, Roarke! He's definitely at the top of my list. I'm not caught up on the series yet, but it's always good when I need something to read. Have you listened to any of the audiobooks? The narrator is fantastic and does such a great job with his accent.

Unknown said...

I like to brag that I've got 3 signed copies of the series.. and am only missing the last 2.. and believe it or not I read it for the suspense and crime solving rather than the romance between Eve and Roarke. I know I know... practically sacrilegious but how I roll LOL
BUT.. if Roarke was available and Eve not around? A whole other story ;)

Unknown said...

Man in totally thought I entered this one. Perhaps I need to take a break on following you from blog to blog entering your giveaways.....bah!!! Of course I love your writing and your books. I'm literally counting down till your next Jewels of the ton.

Shana said...

I'm on your auto-buy list? Yay! I agree Roarke gets better as the series continues. That doesn't always happen in a series.

Shana said...

Rcapo, I don't like sci fi either, but that aspect is very light in the series. Give it a try.

Shana said...

Mary, I am so bad at choosing book titles. My editor often does it, though I've titled a few. Sometimes I ask other authors for suggestions or my friends on Facebook.

Shana said...

Yes, Nicole! Roarke is Eve's husband. Thanks for stopping by, and good luck!

Shana said...

Thanks, Kathleen. There is something about those sexy Irishmen...

Shana said...

I actually have listened to 5 or 6 of them on audio. NR always has great readers. I remember her reader for the Three Sisters (the witches one?) was really good too. Sandra Burr, I think.

Shana said...

Caroline, a lot of my friends who write suspense would roll their eyes at that, but I think it's pretty good crime solving fiction too. I'll stick with you on that!

Shana said...

Danielle, that's a long count. Only 4 months until THE SPY WORE BLUE, though...

Unknown said...

I did just recently snag the first book in that series and I can't wait to read it!

I agree with you, Shana!! I too love Roarke. I love him when i read book one. To tell the truth, when i first read this book, it was just for fun or killing time, but instantly book one was make me can't stop read. And then when i end reading book one, i wanna read another again. So i go hunting another books from this series, until now i have complete this series on ebooks and print books. And now i can't wait to read new book from this series!!

Jo said...

I pity any woman Roarke was seriously interested in before Eve came along - not only does she not have him anymore, but if Eve knew, the woman wouldn't be long for this world!

Shana said...

I didn't think I'd like the series either, Filia. I just read them because so many people were talking about them. Now I'm one of those talking!

Shana said...

LOL, very true, Jo!

OMG I LOVE Roarke too! But alas, I have not gotten hold of a copy of Naked in Death, what a title right(!) so here's hoping.

Thanks for spreading the Roarke love!

Your book's title is very appealing too! Just like Roarke! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

Shana said...

Nikki, good luck with the giveaway! Naked in Death lives up to its title!

Kim said...

Although I like Roarke, I must admit I stopped reading the series. Eve hasn't really grown that much after 20+ books and I felt she was becoming one dimensional. Every book was about her not caring for fashion or hating going to parties instead of adapting to the life she chose when she married Roarke. I know I'll pick the series up again at some point.

Unknown said...

Looking forward to starting this series! Thanks for the giveaway!

There are so many books in this series that every once in a while I just buy one on my kindle and read it. So far I think I have 9 or 10 but they are sooooo good! Roarke is too good for words. If only a man like him really existed like him in real life. I want to make my husband read them and go."can you be like him?" I really do love my husband but come on! Anyway! I only have 35 or so books to go!
