Guest Post with Author Darynda Jones and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to the blog the awesome Darynda Jones. I absolutely love her Charley Davidson series and the newest book Third Grave Dead Ahead is set to be released on January 31st and I definitely can't wait to read it. Darynda is here today to talk about her new book, so everyone please give Darynda a warm welcome.

Hey everyone! First, I want to thank Dani for letting me be a guest on her blog. It’s quite generous of her. Since she interviewed me not too long ago, she bravely decided to turn the reins over to me. Dangerous that, as I’ve got some ramblings of my own I’d like to do. Dani, you are a brave girl. :)

Third Grave Dead Ahead, the third in the Charley Davidson series, will be released on January 31, 2012. I’m super excited about this book and can’t wait to share it with Charley’s readers. I think her fans are in for a lot of surprises while reading Third Grave, and I hope you like her newest set of adventures. Just remember, don’t blame me. Blame adventure girl, Charley.

Charley’s third story is a hairy one. She’s prone to finding herself in some bizarre and dangerous predicaments as it is, but this book ups the ante. While that’s good for the reader, it’s not always so good for Charley. In fact, she even had ME worried there for a while.

In Third Grave, Charley pursues dastardly villains, bullies and bad guys, bikers and bizarre prison groupies, missing wives and murderous husbands. She rumbles with Reyes and fusses with her disappointing father. She is exhausted from lack of sleep and a little heart broken, as well.

Sleep pursues her like a wickedly determined drug dealer peddling to a hard-core junkie with money to burn. When it finds her, and it always does, sleep is followed by an angry and resentful Reyes. Is his touch healing? Helpful? Or tormenting? It’s a hard question to answer. She unwisely avoids having to make an answer, choosing constant wakefulness, instead. Charley does not function well without sleep (who of us does?).

Charley developed serious trust issues with her somewhat neglectful father in Second Grave therein breaking her heart just a wee bit. She could manage the hate that existed between her and her stepmother. She could manage the cool distance built between her and her sister, but the cold choice made by her father in Second Grave was a betrayal that brought her pretty low, tarnishing the relationship she thought she had with the man. She continues to be rocked by this anguish in her third story, stubbornly refusing him at every opportunity.

Forward she marches, desperate to answer the difficult questions laid out before her in Third Grave Dead Ahead. Where is the missing wife? Who would dare poison a biker gangs’ guard dogs and why? How can she be so angry with Reyes and yet want him so much? Who really killed his stepfather so long ago? Our Charley, foolishly perhaps, thought that she felt about as low as she could get. Third Grave Dead Ahead proves her wrong. It proves her very, very wrong.
###

Charley Davidson—grim reaper extraordinaire, private investigator . . . meh—is practicing her profession under the influence, caffeine and copious amounts of it, due to an extreme desire to induce insomnia. Every time she closes her eyes, Reyes Farrow, the part-human, part-supermodel son of Satan, is there. Only thing is, he’s a tad peeved. She did bind for all eternity, so it’s hard blame him. But 13 days without a wink is bound to bring out the crazy in a girl. So, when a man hires her to find his wife, Charley accepts the job with one goal in mind: Put the man behind bars, and not the wet kind. She can sense the guilt waft off him and vows to find the woman’s body and prove he’s a murderer.

In the meantime, Reyes is back in prison and none too happy about it . . . so Charley thinks, until she is carjacked by the dark-haired rake, who swears the very man he went to prison for killing is not only alive, but close by. And he wants Charley to find him.

While a visit to her old friend Rocket sheds no light on Reyes’s situation, Charley finds out the man’s wife is still alive and time is running out. Finding her before she dies would be a miracle, but she has to try. Together with the help of a fashion-impaired receptionist named Cookie, Charley sets out to bring the bad guys to justice. She just hopes Reyes is not one of them. And that she’s not hallucinating from her self-induced bout with insomnia.
