Guest Post with Author Parker Kincade and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome author Parker Kincade to RFTC. Parker is celebrating the release of her book One Night Stand and has stopped by to chat. Before I give the floor to Parker, let's get to know her a bit.

I live in a small town in the South and am surrounded by the best friends a girl could ask for, as well as a family who supports my writing habit without hesitation.

When I’m not sitting at my laptop desperately trying to shush the voices in my head, I usually have my nose stuck in a book or have loud music playing while I create a fun new recipe in the kitchen. No matter what I’m doing, I’m usually flanked by my Boxer, who I absolutely adore.

Anatomy of One Night Stand

Thanks so much to Dani for allowing me to guest blog today!

One of the questions I get a lot is “why a one night stand?” My answer is…why not?

I’ll admit, several things inspired me while I was developing One Night Stand. I knew I wanted to write a series about strong alpha men, brothers by blood, brothers in arms. As I was driving through Texas last summer, I knew it was the perfect location for my wild men. Strong, dangerous AND Texan? Be still my heart.

As I began character development, I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. Things were too…organized. The evil vixen in me realized what was missing. Amanda. Because what would shake up three powerful males more than a little sister?

While I continued my journey west, several of my friends were experiencing relationship issues. This led me to the question –what would a woman do if she’d never had a relationship where her partner was monogamous?

And One Night Stand was born. In a RAV 4 while driving down Interstate 40, somewhere between Amarillo and the New Mexico border, Amanda Martin gave up on love. Angry, hurt, tired of being cheated on - Amanda decides to go against everything she believes in. No more relationships. No fear of getting hurt. Just sex.

Sounds simple right? Toss in a handsome stranger, three possessive and pissed off brothers and it’s a party people! I hope you enjoy One Night Stand as much as I enjoyed writing it. And we haven’t seen the last of the Martin’s. There is more to come.

As sometimes writers have to do, I sort of threw Amanda under the bus in my quest to find answers, but she swears she’s forgiven me. I mean, come on. She’s got Joe, after all.

Her brothers on the other hand…

When a night of incredible sex turns into a passion neither can deny.

Amanda Martin has the worst taste in men. After being cheated on not once, but twice, she’s lost all faith in men…and in herself. Determined to regain her confidence, Amanda decides to have a one-night stand. No relationship, no promises, no threat of being hurt again…just sex. What she doesn’t anticipate is meeting a handsome-as-sin stranger who will give her pleasure unlike any she’s ever known.

Joe Sterling has spent his life avoiding relationships, his former job as a military sniper not allowing for such commitments. Now he’s come home to Texas, to let go of the past and to prove he is more than the killer he’s been trained to be. When Amanda’s life is threatened, Joe’s killer instinct is tested while Amanda struggles to protect her heart. Will they succumb to their overwhelming desire for each other, or lose it all by letting the past dictate their future?

I think a one night stand is a perfect start to a book. I can't wait to read it now. I so love alpha men! Throw in a little wounded emotionally and that is my kind of book.

Thank you Kelsey! It's funny where and when inspiration hits. Sometimes it's a subtle nudge and sometimes it knocks me on my backside. The Martins definitely fall into that latter category. They are an insistent bunch! :) Thanks for your comment and good luck in the giveaway! ~Parker

I look forward to reading your book! Do you keep a recorder handy while you are driving for the ideas or do you leave yourself voicemails?
Thank you for the giveaway!

Unknown said...

Hi Phoenix! Thank you! I hope you enjoy it!

I use the voice recorder on my iPhone if I am unable to get to my journal. I also have an app that dictates while I talk but I generally won't use that when I'm driving because it requires me to e-mail myself the notes once I'm done.

Thanks for the great question and good luck in the giveaway! ~Parker
