Feature and Giveaway: Runaway Groom by Sally Clements

Seven years ago, Matthew Logan ran out on his wedding to June Leigh.

Life is good for fledgling dress-designer April Leigh. She couldn’t be happier that her sister has found a new love, and is excited about her very first commission, June’s wedding dress.

When April discovers June has invited runaway groom Matthew Logan to the wedding, she has to intervene. Matthew’s presence will ruin everything – her father hates him, and just the sight of him in the church might give her mother a heart attack.

Matthew Logan has no intention of going to June’s wedding, but when intriguing April arrives on his doorstep, he can’t resist getting to know her better. When a disaster forces them together neither can deny the passion that combusts into a red-hot affair.

Discovering the truth about the past shifts April’s feelings from lust to love, but bitter experience has taught Matthew to guard his heart.

When it looks as though Matthew will lose her forever, will he fight or flee?

“You’ve got to admire a man who kisses a woman over cocoa,” Marie sipped her drink.

“Especially if she’s wearing a onesie.”

“I can’t see it.” Eliza’s forehead pleated. “I thought it was black for winter, white for summer. I’ve never seen you in anything with yellow on it, especially not ducks. Don’t get me wrong though, I’ve nothing against ducky onesies.”

“It wasn’t mine, you idiot.”

“If you tell me it was his, you’ll totally ruin the moment. You know that, right?” Marie said.

“It’s his sister’s. All my stuff was in the washing machine, I borrowed it.” She tucked her legs under her and refilled her glass. “It was just one of those things, you know, the fire—I was upset…”

“So it was a chaste comforting kiss, was it?” Eliza leaned forward.

Red flags signaled nope on April’s face again. “Um…”

“Just stop beating about the bush and out with it. Every single detail,” Marie demanded. “You know you want to.”

The feelings dammed up within needed an outlet. April breathed in deep, and recounted the story of the kiss.

“And then today he came home early and I caught him in the shower.”

The sound emanating from Marie could only be described as a squeal.

“Behind an opaque shower-curtain catch?”

“More like behind a totally transparent shower screen catch.” Heat flared though her entire body at the memory.

The description makes it sound pretty serious, but the excerpt had a lot of humor. Sounds like something I would like.

Sally, do you write on the go or only at home?

Sally Clements said...

Thanks for the congrats, guys! I see there are a couple of questions, so I'll do my best to answer them...
I came up with the idea for Runaway Groom when I was thinking about weddings that didn't happen. It struck me that there's usually sympathy if its a woman who calls off her wedding, but if it's a man...well typically the runaway groom is a man people love to hate. Matthew Logan is such a man. He's treated like a pariah in his home town in Ireland, but doesn't care much about it, as he's left the town behind and moved. But when someone who used to be a friend treats him with distain because of his past, he's angry. And the story begins.
And Tammy, I write at home. With headphones on and a large cup of coffee by my side. I never write on the go, I'm too self conscious!
Good luck with the Rafflecopter, all!
