ARC Review: Romancing My Love by Melissa Foster

Romancing My Love is the 17th book in the Love In Bloom series by Melissa Foster and is the 9th Bradens book. What I love about this series is that each novel is a standalone story with interconnected characters, so you can start with any of them and not feel as though you are missing out on a ton of things. But I would definitely recommend reading in order if you can because you really get to know the characters and their relationships along the way.

After losing her mother to cancer following months of in home care, Rebecca Rivera is left with no place to live and only a crappy job to try to provide for herself. She hopes to finish her business degree, but had to put everything on hold due to her situation. When things get really bad at her job, she finally decides to quit and is forced to live in her car. But she is able to find a waitressing job at a local resort when a friend of hers helps her out. She ends up meeting the handsome Pierce Braden, and has no idea that he owns the resort where she has just landed a job. Things between them are stronger than they have ever felt before with anyone else and soon they spending a lot of time together. But both of them are holding things back from one another, and fear what will happen when the truth comes out.

I really liked Pierce. He was sweet and sexy, and such a protector. He wanted to be a fixer for Rebecca and take care of all her problems. I liked that he didn't judge her though and that despite what he wanted, he respected her wishes on how to handle things. I thought that he was a great guy, and I liked that he didn't have any problems committing to her after his past of being a player. Rebecca was strong and really independent. But I felt like she judged pretty quickly and made a lot of assumptions. I understand that her situation hadn't been ideal, but a lot of times she jumped to conclusions and I wanted her to open up to Pierce more. I was glad to see that start to change as the book progressed, but I did feel that it took her quite awhile. I thought that Pierce and Rebecca had a lot of chemistry together, but that their relationship seemed to happen very quickly. I didn't see how their emotional connection had developed as fast as it did, and their bond felt a bit forced to me. I wasn't buying that they had such instant love for one another.

Overall, I think that this was a good addition to the series. I have enjoyed all the stories in this series, and I know that with each book and I am going to end up feeling happy and satisfied with the ending. If you are looking for sweet contemporary reads with some steam to them, Melissa Foster delivers with every single book in this series. I would definitely recommend this series to contemporary fans, and I think that Melissa Foster is always a safe bet for a good story. I look forward to the next installment in this series and can't wait to read about the next Braden!
