Sealed With a Kiss Event with Theresa Romain

Historical romance author Theresa Romain pursued an impractical education that allowed her to read everything she could get her hands on. She then worked for universities and libraries, where she got to read even more. Eventually she started writing, too. She lives with her family in the Midwest, where she is working on her next book.

Danielle, thanks for the chance to join the Sealed with a Kiss event!

These letters feature the couple from SECRETS OF A SCANDALOUS HEIRESS, my recent historical romance. Augusta Meredith is the heiress to a cosmetics fortune, but despite all her money, she doesn’t fit into polite society. Joss Everett is the Anglo-Indian cousin to a baron; he’s from the poor side of the family and works as his cousin’s man of business. Joss and Augusta were old acquaintances who met again in Bath when he was chasing a family blackmailer and she was passing under a false identity. They kept each other’s secrets, helped each other, and (as you’d guess!) fell in love.

Joss and Augusta exchanged these Valentine letters in February 1818, about 11 months after the events of SECRETS OF A SCANDALOUS HEIRESS and 10 months after their marriage.

Letter from Mr. Josiah Everett to wife

Letter from Mrs. Josiah Everett, née Augusta Meredith, to husband

Check out Joss and Augusta's love story in Secrets of a Scandalous Heiress.

One good proposition deserves another…

Heiress Augusta Meredith can’t help herself—she stirs up gossip wherever she goes. A stranger to Bath society, she pretends to be a charming young widow, until sardonic, darkly handsome Joss Everett arrives from London and uncovers her charade.

Augusta persuades Joss to keep her secret in exchange for a secret of his own. Weaving their way through the treacherous pitfalls of a polite world only too eager to expose and condemn them, they begin to see that being true to themselves is not so bad…as long as they’re true to each other…

Cancerjanus, I love the cover art for this book. The artist really captured the feel of the story, I think.

Unknown said...

Well, I hope you get the chance! :)

Unknown said...

Ha! Thanks, Anon. That raises the question: should I watch a romantic movie tonight in honor of V-day tomorrow, or a scary movie because it's Friday the 13th?

The cover of this release is very intriguing as well as lovely, Theresa. And I am very curious about this story and wish to read it as soon as possible. I had it pre-ordered and then had to cancel due to family birthdays and Christmas. :-( I've loved all of your Season romances and think they are among the best of the historical romances I've read. Thank you for your writing! jdh2690@gmail.com

I love the cover for SECRETS OF A SCANDALOUS HEIRESS. It imparts just the right feeling of secrecy and intrigue, with just a hint of a gothic feel. It sounds like a book I will enjoy. I look forward to reading it.

Hi Theresa! You have some of the most gorgeous covers for your books! I'm looking forward to reading Joss and Augusta's story!

Augusta and Joss seem to enjoy each other. Man-flirt? New term for me. The little one kicking her feet for his return says it all.

Unknown said...

Thanks, bn100!

Unknown said...

librarypat, I think the same about the cover. The first time I saw that cover art, I gasped out loud! It was just so perfect.

Unknown said...

Thanks, Anita! Hope you like it. :)

Unknown said...

Suzanne, "man-flirt" is a term from the book. Augusta used it to describe a particular behavior of Joss's, and he was...not pleased. I couldn't resist bringing it back for their letters!
