Shana Galen is the bestselling author of passionate Regency romps, including the RT Reviewers' Choice The Making of a Gentleman. Kirkus says of her books, "The road to happily-ever-after is intense, conflicted, suspenseful and fun," and RT Bookreviews calls her books “lighthearted yet poignant, humorous yet touching." She taught English at the middle and high school level off and on for eleven years. Most of those years were spent working in Houston's inner city. Now she writes full time. She's happily married and has a daughter who is most definitely a romance heroine in the making. Shana loves to hear from readers, so send her an email or see what she's up to daily on Facebook and Twitter.
I used to be a teacher, and I can tell you hall passes are not given lightly. As soon as you give one kid a pass, everyone wants them. There’s a stampede for passes to the bathroom or library or study hall. I used to give my students 4 hall passes a semester and initial when they used each. If they wanted more, they had to “buy” them with bonus points I’d give out for participation or helpfulness or acts of kindness. Unused hall passes were worth +25 on a quiz of the student’s choice.
Keeping that in mind, I’m going to give you 3 heroes I’d definitely give hall passes to. I’ll leave the 4th up to you. Would you give it to another hero I didn’t mention or use it to “buy” something you’ve been wanting?
Hall Pass #1: Historical
My first love is historical romance, so my first pass goes to Ethan Caxton, the Marquess of Winterbourne from my own new release, WHILE YOU WERE SPYING. Is it cheating to give one to my own character? Maybe, but when teachers say they don’t play favorites, don’t believe them. We all have favorites, and Ethan is mine. I started his book about a dozen years ago and am so excited it’s finally being published. I love Ethan because he’s patient and protective and sexy as hell. He’s the kind of guy who gives a woman a look and has her fanning herself.
Hall Pass #2: Contemporary
My next hall pass goes to Theo Harp from Susan Elizabeth Phillips’s HEROES ARE MY WEAKNESS. Theo is a writer. I taught English and have a soft spot for writers, really any man who’s good with words and language. I also like Theo because he’s the kind of guy who always does the honorable thing. He’s also great with kids, and I love guys who can relate to kids.
Hall Pass #3: New Adult
My final hall pass goes to a football player, Drew Baylor from Kristen Callihan’s THE HOOK UP. Drew is talented, smart, and the BMOC, but he doesn’t want the vapid sorority girls throwing themselves at him. He’s interested in quirky Anna Jones. I love a guy who can see beneath the surface, and I love a hero who has a passion. Drew loves football. He feels alive when he’s playing it, but it never takes the place of what’s really important. Teachers love jocks who also care about their studies.
Your turn. Would you give that last pass to another hero I didn’t mention or use it to “buy” something you’ve been wanting?

Thanks for having me!
I would give the hall pass to the next person!
I would use the last hall pass for Julian from Three Nights with a Scoundrel by Tessa Dare. I have fallen in love with him:)
I'd pass it to Anthony Bridgerton (The Viscount Who Loved Me - Julia Quinn). He's so caring of his family and just plain HOT!
I'll buy something--hall pass is find for fantasy, but not for reality.
Denise
**fine
Though I do love Bourne in A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME by Sarah MacLean
Love your books. I would use the hall pass to add Blue, the nicest guy SD has ever created.
I'd give it to my most recent favorite hero--Hunter Abbott from Marie Force's book "And I Love Her". He's fiercely loyal to the people he loves and he doesn't give up on the woman he's loved from afar for years. Sigh!
Great choices, Shana! Right now I'd use the hall pass for Cyrus Ryland the self made hero in Gina Conkle's The Lady Meets Her Match.
That's nice of you!
I can't blame you! Great book and hero.
I do love the Brigertons :-)
Great choice! ;-)
That is on my TBR list. Now I must hurry and read it.
Good choice! I've just started that book.
You mentioned all the right reasons why I'd use my hall passes ;) Paranormal is my second love (historical being first) so I'd use my hall pass on vampire Rhage from J.R.Ward's Lover Eternal ... *le swoon*
I'd use the hall pass for Adam Radcliff - the hero from the last book I read; Lily Maxton's The Mistake. A true gentleman & steadfast in his love throughout all the years
I'd give the hall pass to any of Julie James' heroes. They are all intelligent, funny and good- looking.
i would use it for Temple in Sarah Maclean's book; No Good Duke Goes Unpunished
I"d pick any of Shana's heroes :) thanks for sharing and congrats to Shana on her upcoming/new release!!!
Great choice, Ms Awesome!
I haven't read that yet. Sounds great!
She does write great heroes (and heroines!), Kim.
Love that hero and that series!
Thanks, Erin! :-)
I would use it to buy something. Not sure what but I loved your entire list! Yay!
Hi, Shana. I'd use the hall pass for Jamie Frasier from Outlander. ;)
Marcy Shuler
I would probably use my hall pass to buy something. Thanks for asking.

Thanks, Lisa!

I would give it to Alex Scarston, Earl of Selbourne from "When Dashing Met Danger. He is a rake and a spy. Oh my!
Your choices are great!
I haven't read your choices, but they sound great! I would give that last hall pass to Archer Hale.
Enjoyed seeing your picks! For the 4th, I'd pick Jesse Ward from This Man series by Jodi Ellen Malpas
Not sure. Probably use it on one you didn't mention but would need time to decide. I always have a hard time choosing.
