Sealed With a Kiss Event with Christi Caldwell

USA TODAY Bestselling author CHRISTI CALDWELL blames Judith McNaught's "Whitney, My Love!" for luring her into the world of historical romance. While sitting in her graduate school apartment at the University of Connecticut, Christi decided to set aside her notes and pick up her laptop to try her hand at romance. She believes the most perfect heroes and heroines have imperfections, and she rather enjoys torturing them before crafting them a well deserved happily ever after!

Christi makes her home in southern Connecticut where she spends her time writing her own enchanting historical romances, chasing around her feisty seven-year-old son and caring for her twin princesses in training!

Marcus Grey, the Viscount Wessex and Mrs. Eleanor Collins fell in love years earlier, but were separated after Eleanor left in the dead of night, with nothing but a short goodbye-note for Marcus. However, theirs is an enduring love. A love to survive time, and separation, heartache, and heartbreak.  A story of love-lost and found.

Seated at the delicate rose-inlaid desk in the library, Eleanor hopped up from the shell-back chair. From where he sat reading on the leather button sofa, Marcus glanced up. Concern glinted in his eyes. “Eleanor—?”

“I love it,” she blurted, brandishing his note in one hand. Her throat worked, as she worked her gaze over him. How I love him. At his furrowed brow, she clarified. “Your note. It is beautiful and in it, I see your love, Marcus and I can turn my mind inside out for the words I would write to you.” She held up her partially started letter.  Understanding flashed in his eyes, and he came slowly to his feet. “But I do not want to ink words on this sheet, or any sheet for you,” she whispered. “We were apart for so long.” Too long. “And I would tell you what is in my heart. When the nightmares came, and I felt lost, the memory of your laughter and our love, gave me strength.  I would tell you that I’ve only ever loved you, and that you are my reason for happiness. You make me stronger. You...” He strode over and stopped so they were a hairsbreadth apart. Drawing in a deep breath, she looked up at him. “I love you, Marcus Grey. You are all I ever wanted. The dream I’d thought impossible. The—”

He lowered his head, so their lips nearly touched. “I love you, Eleanor Elaine.”

A smile quivered on her mouth, as she leaned up to receive his kiss.

Check out Marcus and Eleanor's love story in To Trust a Rogue.

A rogue

Marcus, the Viscount Wessex has carefully crafted the image of rogue and charmer for polite Society. Under that façade, however, dwells a man whose dreams were shattered almost eight years earlier by a young lady who captured his heart, pledged her love, and then left him, with nothing more than a curt note.

A widow

Eight years earlier, faced with no other choice, Mrs. Eleanor Collins, fled London and the only man she ever loved, Marcus, Viscount Wessex. She has now returned to serve as a companion for her elderly aunt with a daughter in tow. Even though they’re next door neighbors, there is little reason for her to move in the same circles as Marcus, just in case, she vows to avoid him, for he reminds her of all she lost when she left.

Reunited

As their paths continue to cross, Marcus finds his desire for Eleanor just as strong, but he learned long ago she’s not to be trusted. He will offer her a place in his bed, but not anything more. Only, Eleanor has no interest in this new, roguish man. The more time they spend together, the protective wall they’ve constructed to keep the other out, begin to break. With all the betrayals and secrets between them, Marcus has to open his heart again. And Eleanor must decide if it’s ever safe to trust a rogue.

When it comes to writing out our thoughts, my husband and I are fairly tongue tied. Do you and your husband find it easy to put your thoughts down on paper?
