Interview with Author Juliana Haygert

Please welcome author Juliana Haygert to RFTC. Juliana is here to chat about her book, His Allure, Her Passion. Please give her a warm welcome.

While Juliana Haygert dreams of being Wonder Woman, Buffy, or a blood elf shadow priest, she settles for the less exciting—but equally gratifying—life of a wife, mother, and author. Thousands of miles away from her former home in Brazil, she now resides in Connecticut and spends her days writing about kick-ass heroines and the heroes who drive them crazy.

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
I’m a simple girl, with big thoughts. I’m very friendly and I laugh easily. Though, it’s even easier to irritate me. Just a warning ;)

Did you always want to be a writer?
I’ve always been a writer, though it was only a hobby until around 2009, when I decided to try getting published.

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
I try being 100% plotter and 100% pantser and it didn’t work. The best for me is a mix of both :)

Where do your ideas come from?
Everywhere, I guess. Music is big inspiration thing and can set my mood, helping me to add to ideas, to explore them, to develop them.

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
New Adult :) I’m very eclectic … I like contemporary, paranormal, fantasy, high fantasy, thriller – as long as there is at least a bit of romance in the story.

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
Nope. I love too many books and I could never ever choose between them.

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
It depends. Sometimes the climax, when I’m too excited about it, I kinda put it off because I’m afraid of messing them up. But most of the time are the actions because everything happens so fast I feel like I don’t have time to write it all, and I have to be careful to put in reactions and a little bit of thoughts in between each movement.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
Richelle Mead (because she’s my idol), J.K. Rowling (because she’s everyone’s idol), and Stephen King (because the man is a King!).

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
I’m getting ready to publish Breaking the Reins, my next NA contemp romance, and I’m outline the sequel of Destiny Gift, my NA ParaRom.

Have you read any New Adult book? Do you like it?

In his father’s eyes, Dylan Deveraux is just a playboy spending the family fortune on prostitutes, alcohol, and fast cars. Because of that, his father forbids Dylan’s presence at the ball that will mark US launch of the family automobile company, strategically scheduled on Valentine’s Day.

Hayley Allen is a failing model with an anxiety disorder, and she has the worst luck in the world. She always ends up in the hands of cruel designers and photographers—at least, that’s what she tells herself. It’s better than admitting her own failure. Desperate, she would do anything to help her career—even go along with the pretense Dylan suggests....

Longtime friends, Hayley is the only one able to put up with Dylan’s foolishness, and he appreciates that, but not in the way her heart wants. When he approaches her with his idea to crash the Valentine’s Ball as his girlfriend, she jumps at the chance to be in the spotlight and help Dylan impress his father. But will the charade leave her heart unscathed, or is this just more of Dylan’s bullshit?
