Guest Post with Author Shannon Stacey and Giveaway

Meet Shannon Stacey, author of Taken With You.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shannon Stacey lives with her husband and two sons in New England, where her two favorite activities are writing stories of happily ever after and riding her four-wheeler. From May to November, the Stacey family spends their weekends on their ATVs, making loads of muddy laundry to keep Shannon busy when she’s not at her computer. She prefers writing to laundry, however, and considers herself lucky she got to be an author when she grew up.

My Top 10 Favorite Couples

10. Orry Main and Madeline Fabray LaMotte from North and South (the original North and South by John Jakes). While I have mixed feelings about where the series took the couple, the epic romance and high melodrama stole my teenage heart and never let go.

9. Rob Roy and his Mary, from the movie Rob Roy. So much quiet love and strength, played perfectly by Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange.

8. Joe “Cat” and Veronica St. John from Prince Joe by Suzanne Brockmann. Joe (and the story) hit all my happy reader buttons and launched an epic love for her Tall, Dark and Dangerous series.

7. At the risk of being unoriginal, no list of favorite romance couples could be complete without Eve and Roarke. I’m a little behind on J.D. Robb’s In Death series, but I’m going to have a glom and catch up on this beloved couple very soon.

6. Payton Kendall and J.D. Jameson from Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James. The banter and sexual tension practically crackles on the page. I’ve loved all of her books, but this couple remains a favorite.

5. Kevin Ryan and Javi Esposito from Castle. (I’m cheating a little because it’s a bro-mance, which means they’re not technically a couple, but they’re a favorite “pair” of mine. The funny banter with a strong emotional underpinning hits all of my happy buttons.)

4. Castle and Beckett, from Castle. Her practical nature and his imagination are such a fun mix, their chemistry sizzles, and I really, really hope the show’s writers don’t screw this up.

3. Steve McGarrett and Danny Williams from Hawaii 5-0! (Again, it’s a bro-mance, but they’re a favorite TV duo of mine.)

2. Rogan Peregrine and Liana Neville, from The Taming by Jude Deveraux. This long-time favorite book released while I was in high school and I remember literally hugging the book to my chest and happy-sighing at the end.

And my personal number 1. Conn Conagher and Evie Teale from Conagher by Louis L’Amour. I fell in love with them in the book and then fell even harder when they were brought to the screen by the incomparable Western pairing of Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross. This was also the book that transitioned me from science fiction, fantasy and westerns to romance, as I went looking for more frontier love stories and found Linda Lael Miller.

Thank you for inviting me to share my favorite couples! I’d love to hear who makes everybody else’s lists!

Hailey Genest has seen most of her friends marry and have babies, and she’s happy for them, but it was a lot easier before she hit forty. She’s spent her entire life in Whitford, Maine, and if she hasn’t found her Prince Charming by now, she has to accept she’s probably not going to. When a new friend suggests they go on an adventure and embrace being single, Hailey agrees.

Surviving in the woods is game warden Matt Barnett’s idea of a relaxing vacation. But when he meets two women in need of help, he leads them back to safety – a task that proves more fun than expected, thanks to a certain hot blonde. He can’t resist pushing her buttons, even though she’s made it clear that the rugged, outdoorsy type just isn’t for her.

Hailey is glad to see the back of her tempting-tour-guide-slash-pain-in-the-ass. When he shows up in her life again, she’s determined to avoid him, no matter how good he looks in his uniform. But that’s easier said than done in Whitford, especially when he’s renting the house right next door…

  3. Hi Shannon! I loved reading your list of couples! I also loved reading North and South (and I hated the tv movie--way too patronizing and went off course from the book!). There is a "bromance" I'd like to add to that list--Sam and Dean Winchester and their pal Castiel from the show Supernatural. The characters' personalities complement one another very well. Thanks for coming here--can't wait to read "Taken with You"!
