Guest Post with Author Sharon Ashwood and Giveaway

Meet Sharon Ashwood, author of the Horsemen Series.

Sharon Ashwood is a novelist, desk jockey and enthusiast for the weird and spooky. She has an English literature degree but works as a finance geek. Interests include growing her to-be-read pile and playing with the toy graveyard on her desk. As a vegetarian, she freely admits the whole vampire/werewolf lifestyle would never work out, so she writes her adventures instead.

Sharon is the winner of the RITA® Award for Paranormal Romance. She lives in the Pacific Northwest and is owned by the Demon Lord of Kitty Badness.

New Series, Fresh Challenges by Sharon Ashwood

Launching a new series is exciting. Yes, I feel my story test kitchen has produced a fine confection: Take four smoking hot paranormal heroes (three vampires and a werewolf), turn them into a squad of James Bond types that save the world as necessary, and send them off to butt heads with four gorgeous, capable, spirited women. What’s not to like?

And for me, there’s the bonus of trying something new. Those who are familiar with my previous books, the Dark Forgotten series, will know that I’ve always leaned more toward the dark urban fantasy end of the spectrum. This series is funnier, a bit lighter, and (if there is such a word) more romancy. There are suspense elements, evil plots, and the occasional explosion, but the focus is squarely on the relationship between the hero and heroine. These books are, after all, published by Harlequin and they know their romance.

Why the shift in focus? Because that’s what the books wanted. I’m not the type to sit down and think: okay, I’m going to write an XYZ genre tale. Instead, I seem to encounter stories and then spend some time watching them grow and develop enough to sort out what they want to be. This quartet of novels has a royal wedding, fabulous cars and houses, spies, secret formulae, magic gems, and warring fey. They’re a wee bit hotter than my usual fare, but the characters wanted it that way. And the goal of the stories is definitely to melt the alpha hearts of the Horsemen (with code names Death, War, Plague, and Famine) and to teach them the universe isn’t all about techno toys and brooding. I had a great time watching my heroines wrap them around their ring fingers!

We start with POSSESSED BY A WARRIOR and War—Sam Ralston—is a vampire with a strong protective streak and very high ideals. He’s a straight arrow, but when his best friend’s niece is threatened, his loyalties come into conflict. Chloe Anderson, a wedding planner with some surprising talents of her own, makes him want to break every rule that’s shaped his existence since the Civil War. And it’s all over a bridal gown studded with a princess’s ransom in diamonds that is leaving a trail of bodies in its wake. Talk about a dress to die for!

Please accept this invitation to a royal wedding, and join me in celebrating the launch of the Horsemen series!

What do you think is the most romantic wedding destination? What’s the most fun you’ve ever had at a wedding?

Please leave a comment on this post to enter a draw for a signed paperback of POSSESSED BY A WARRIOR. Please note that while paper copies are available direct from Harlequin and bundled editions will be in stores, individual Nocturne titles are now eBook only. A dazzling dress is wreaking havoc—and costing lives?

The violent death of her uncle sends Chloe Anderson reeling—and rushing to his estate. As coexecutor of Jack’s will, she assumes that he has left her something. What she doesn’t expect is a bejeweled wedding gown with a note warning her to trust only his business partner—dark, mysterious and sexy Sam Ralston.

Chloe’s been burned in love, but never bitten, and there’s something about Sam that keeps drawing her in, despite her fears. The attraction is mutual, intense, and it takes all of Sam’s willpower to hide his fangs. With Chloe’s career at stake and murderous thieves hot on their trail, the vampire vows to protect her. But can he save her from himself?

  1. I've never gone to a wedding in an exotic locale, but my husband and I tend to make it a "vacation" when we have an out-of-state wedding to attend...we haven't gone to any in recent years, but some of the most enjoyable weddings have been my extended family's weddings. As far as distance, the furthest I've driven was 700 miles to my brother's wedding in Charleston, South Carolina (I live in New Jersey).

  2. I think the most romantic destination would be Australia. The most enjoyable wedding I've been to was one with mostly family. They didn't have a lot of money to spend so there were no expensive meals, decorations or formal anything. The reception was held at the local VFW and all the little kids were there dancing to oldies music with the adults.
