Interview with Author Cathryn Williams and Giveaway

Cathryn Williams is the oldest and only female in a family of four children. While born on the east coast, she has lived all over the country. Her father’s job as an engineer caused the family to move throughout her entire youth. She has spent time in Texas, Idaho, and Nevada before moving back to the eastern part of the country as an adult.

It was during these early years that her love of literature began, starting with Nancy Drew and growing with the Sweet Valley High series stories. This passion grew with each book and has caused her to transition into writing her own stories. Cathryn’s inspiration stems from a diverse childhood, loving family, and oversized lapdog Scarlet. When not giving life to her characters, she enjoys traveling, marathoning TV shows, and spending time with her family.

Cathryn, thank you so much for chatting with me today!! Since you are new to the “Author” Game, share with your fans FIVE FUN FACTS about you.
  1. I am hooked on Netflix and love watching the series. I just finished Orange is the New Black, especially the last episode of Season 2! Now I'm watching The League and I don't remember the last time I laughed so much.
  2. I just purchased my first home and it started off like a blast from the past. It was built in the 80's and the only update had been new paint. I have been putting a lot of time into updating it to this decade!
  3. My favorite movie is and probably always will be Girls Just Want To Have Fun.
  4. I went skydiving in Vegas. They actually make you write out that you are aware you can die! I wrote it thinking I probably wouldn't go through with it, but ended up loving it. I officially added it and marked it off my bucket list all in the same day.
  5. I'm a dog person. We have two big unruly undisciplined dogs that my family treats like humans. But it always makes me smile when I come home and they greet me like I'm the best person in their world. Of course, they greet everyone like that, so I'm not that special...;)

So why fighters? Where did the idea for the “STAND” Series come from?
I chose to write about fighters because I respect their strength and discipline. They are passionate about what they do and they truly fight for their goals, not just figuratively, but with a true desire to be the best that they can be. As it has become more popular on television, and especially seeing more strong women in the cage now, I knew I wanted my first book to have two amazing and strong characters.

Do you have a Favorite Character from the Stand Series?
My favorite character is Melanie. I love the combination of her femininity, strength, and take no crap attitude. I tend to be a little quiet myself, so I respect women that aren't afraid to be themselves and put everything out on the line. I enjoyed developing her character as I wrote Stand of Honor

Do you have plans for a Book Three in the Stand Series?
At this point, I'm thinking about writing a new book outside of the Stand series. There are so many great stories to tell and I have several storylines that I am considering right now

What are a few MUST NEEDS when you are writing? (Music, Snack, etc)
I'm going through an unsweet tea phase right now in an attempt to stop drinking so much diet coke. All the studies about how terrible diet drinks are is finally getting to me! I love getting a large tea and having it near me while I'm writing. Along with some dark chocolate of course.

Who are some of your Favorite Authors to read?
I read a variety of genres, some of my favorite authors are Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, Suzanne Collins, Jamie Begley, Rick Chesler, and Sam Crescent.

If you could pick One Song to describe STAND OF REDEMPTION, what would it be?
Hmm, one song to describe Redemption. There's a lot of turmoil and the characters are forced to do things they don't want to, but persevere and find their way out. I think Hall of Fame by The Script or a classic song like Eye of the Tiger could be combined to describe Redemption.

Thank you so much for chatting today! And parting words for your fans?
I want to thank all of the readers for your support and taking a chance on a new author. I love to read and there's absolutely nothing better than getting swept away from reality into a great story. I like being on the other end as well, I want to create more stories and give that same feeling to my readers that I get when reading a book. There are so many talented authors and I'm grateful to be a part of that elite group.

I’m Nicholas Brooks.

Everyone thinks I’m a nice guy, a local fighter who plays by the rules.

I’m not.

I killed someone when I was sixteen.

The women love me, but I use them.

All except Ria.

However, to have her, I’ll have to fight for her.

The pit isn’t for wimps, either. No rules—get the KO.

To earn redemption, there is always a price.

Even if I win, I lose. Because Ria just might be the price I pay.

Nick was laying on his back in his king sized bed, looking up at the ceiling. He had given up on trying to get her out of his mind, had even considered going back to the hospital to see if he could learn more about her.

When he’d caught sight of her tonight, it was everything he could do to keep from staring at her table. Then, when their eyes had met, he had been forced to look away and listen to whatever the hell Leah was boring him with. He thought back. Oh, yeah, she had broken a fingernail that morning just hours after getting a manicure.

He groaned silently to himself. Leah was the classic definition of an airhead. Exactly the type he preferred to date. That was, until he had seen Ria.

He kept telling himself that the dark-haired woman wasn’t worth the trouble. She was obviously a handful and a smartass. Unfortunately for him, that was what had piqued his interest.

He was used to women throwing themselves at him and loving the fame that came with him. Ria was the first woman he had met who hadn’t known who he was and thought the sport he had dedicated his life to was a joke. He couldn’t help that it intrigued him.

Ria. He wondered what her name was short for. It suited her. She seemed like a no-nonsense type of woman, and her name was no different.
