Fall into Romance Event with Cindi Madsen

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.

Places to find Cindi:

I’ve always been a reader and I’ve always had stories in my head. When I was in fifth grade one of my teachers gave me the Anne of Green Gables series. I devoured it, and of course I knew there was something about Gilbert Blythe from the moment he called Anne Carrots. But then I turned to reading mysteries, going from Nancy Drew novels to serial killer novels. I always liked solving the mystery. There were a few other books that I picked up that had romance, but it usually was a small side plot. But then I found myself skimming books to the parts that did have romance. I was happiest when the potential couple was together, bantering and flirting. I loved the books that made me yell “Kiss already!” at them, and the happy butterflies when they FINALLY did. It suddenly hit me that I should seek out books for more romance. After all, what’s more mysterious than love and how someone can drive you crazy mad one moment and crazy happy the next? Then there’s figuring out how two people with the odds stacked against them are going to overcome everything so they can have their happily ever after. Plus, there’s all the kissing. Books are just better with it.

So, when I decided to put down some of the stories that’d been running through my head, I chose to go with romance. No matter what else was happening in the plot, my main goal was getting my hero and heroine together. I love the romantic tension, I love banter and swooning, and I gotta get that happily ever after. It just makes me super happy!

Sometimes love is right where you left it.

Sadie Hart has a plan: return to her small town of Hope Springs so she can regain her confidence—and bank account—before giving one more shot to her country music dream. The dream that means more to her than anything. The dream she chose over her high school sweetheart, the brooding and sinfully handsome Royce Dixon.

Royce has moved on from his memories of the beautiful Sadie. Now he’s focused solely on running Second Chance Ranch, where he rehabilitates troubled teens through ranch work. But when he needs a new employee and Sadie’s the only one to volunteer, he has no choice but to offer his old flame a job.

Whether riding a horse with the wind in her hair or mucking out the stalls, Sadie can still get Royce’s heart beating like no one else. But Nashville is her dream, and Royce can’t settle for second best.

  1. I agree with you. I love romance. I love the flirting; the trying to connect and then the eventual happy ending.

  2. Congrats Cindi on the new release!!! I did the same thing!!! I'd skim the "non-romance" books for the romantic parts and then reread the entire thing :) Finally, I just stop being in denial and starting reading romance full time :) Thanks for sharing!

  3. It took me awhile to realize I should read more romances instead of being frustrated with the lack of real relationship development in many books.

  4. Nancy Drew used to be my favorite too and I loved how it always end with her and Ned being together again despite all the mysteries in each story. Congrats on your new release. Really enjoyed the excerpt and will be checking your books out.
