Guest Post with Author Shana Galen and Giveaway

Shana Galen is the bestselling author of passionate Regency romps, including the RT Reviewers' Choice The Making of a Gentleman. Kirkus says of her books, "The road to happily-ever-after is intense, conflicted, suspenseful and fun," and RT Bookreviews calls her books “lighthearted yet poignant, humorous yet touching." She taught English at the middle and high school level off and on for eleven years. Most of those years were spent working in Houston's inner city. Now she writes full time. She's happily married and has a daughter who is most definitely a romance heroine in the making. Shana loves to hear from readers, so send her an email or see what she's up to daily on Facebook and Twitter.

Favorite Romantic Kisses

Sometimes I’m reading a book and though I like it, I feel like something is missing. I’m reading and reading and feeling more and more unsatisfied. Nine times out of ten, my dissatisfaction stems from the lack of romance in the novel; specifically, I’m missing the kissing.

There is nothing better than reading a book where the hero and heroine share a fabulous first kiss. It’s always one of my favorite scenes to write. In my new release, Earls Just Want to Have Fun, my heroine is a thief from the slums of London and my hero is an earl. He knows he should not kiss her, but he simply cannot stop himself. And then when he finally gives into temptation, one kiss just isn’t enough for either of them.

I have so many favorite first kisses in books—Anna and Drew in The Hookup by Kristen Callihan, Jessica and Dain in Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase, Eve and Roarke in the In Death series. But you know where I get inspiration when I need to write a kissing scene? Movies.

Here are my Top 5 Favorite Kisses

5. Titanic

Rose and Jack share a steamy and exciting kiss on the bow of the Titanic, and we all went to the theater over and over to see it again and again.

4. The Empire Strikes Back

Leia and Han finally kiss in this one. I was a kid when I saw this movie, but it was my favorite scene of the film. Damn that C-3PO for interrupting!

3. Tangled

When Rapunzel finally kisses Eugene/Flynn it’s a kiss of joy and freedom. Disney doesn’t always get it right, but in Tangled, it’s Rapunzel who kisses Flynn and that’s perfect!

2. Pride and Prejudice (2005—Knightley and McFadden)

We can argue all day about who played the better Elizabeth or Darcy (Colin Firth!). I think we can all agree, this Pride and Prejudice has the best kiss of any of the film adaption.

1. The Princess Bride

Hey, even the movie says, "Since the invention of the kiss, there have been five kisses that have been rated the most passionate, the most pure—this one left them all behind."

What’s your favorite kiss from a book, movie or TV show?

His heart may be the last thing she ever steals...

Marlowe is a pickpocket, a housebreaker-and a better actress than any professional on the stage. She runs with the Covent Garden Cubs, a gang of thieves living in the slums of London's Seven Dials. It's a fierce life, and Marlowe has a hard outer shell. But when she's alone, she allows herself to think of a time before-a dimly remembered life when she was called Elizabeth.

Maxwell, Lord Dane, is intrigued when his brother, a hired investigator, ropes him into his investigation of the fiercely beautiful hellion. He teaches her to navigate the social morass of the ton, but Marlowe will not escape so easily. Instead, Dane is drawn into her dangerous world, where the student becomes the teacher and love is the greatest risk of all.

  3. North & South. Richard Armitage & Daniela Denby-Ashe. You have to watch the final kissing scene. It's jaw droppingly romantic

  4. In the Dr. Who series when Rose and the tenth Doctor (actually a perfectly acceptable duplicate Doctor) finally get their HEA for now. To see the Doctor commit to that kiss was lovely!

  5. I am an Outlander fan. I actually picked up a copy of "Outlander" at a 'Friends of the Library' book sale about 10 years ago and was hooked. I was totally thrilled when I heard that Ron Moore was going to be doing a TV series. I anxiously awaited throughout the first 6 episodes for the kiss that came in episode 7....and was totally NOT disappointed. Hot...HOT....HAWT!!!!
Yep, my favorite!! Claire and Jamie from Outlander on the night of their wedding.

  6. My favorite movie kiss would have to be Ever After. Thus kiss shows the true magic of the world around them fading away as they tune into each other. Then such a sweet romantic kiss. Swoon:)

  9. I like the first kisses in Ever After and Gone With the Wind. In Ever After, it's a tentative and innocent kiss, and in Gone With The Wind, it's a hot one.
