ARC Review: The Trouble with Love by Lauren Layne

To say that I was surprised by The Trouble with Love is a vast understatement. I went into this book not even know what it was about at the time. I mean when I first requested the ARC I knew the premise but that was weeks ago and when I picked up the book to read the other day I had no clue what it was about. Let me just say that I LOVED this book. From beginning to end I could not put it down. I pretty much read in one sitting and then immediately went out and purchased all of the previous books in the series and am currently making my through them all. How have I not read these books before now?

The Trouble with Love was sweet, funny, sexy and just an all-around great read that I haven't been able to get out of my head for days. The chemistry between Emma and Alex Cassidy is evident from their first run in on the elevator in the beginning of the book. I knew immediately that there was something between the tww, I just didn't know what since I hadn't read the previous books. There were just so many sparks between the two that I kept turning the pages to see more interactions between them and to see just what had happened between them that made things go so sour.

Let me just say that I loved these two, both as a couple and as individuals. Both are smart and witty and people that I want to be friends with. What I really enjoyed about the two is that even though they start off with such disdain for one another they were never hateful or vindictive towards one another. They might slip in a barb every now and again (usually when they were alone together) but for the most part they acted very mature and cordial towards one another. I think that is one reason why I was rooting for these two to get back together. You could clearly see that these two still had lingering feeling for one another no matter how much they denied it to themselves and everyone else.

I honestly can't say enough about how much I love and adored this book. It takes a rare breed of author to make me go out and purchase ALL of their backlist without even reading blurbs or reviews. That is just how much I loved this book. Lauren Layne was able to write a story that moved me and left me wanting more. I can't wait to dig into the previous books in the series because the bits I saw of everyone else I loved and I'm more than sure I'll adore their stories as much as I did The Trouble with Love. If you are a fan of contemporary romance or even just want to read a great story, I HIGHLY recommend The Trouble with Love.

  1. I have been hearing nothing but good things about this series. I am bummed that it isn't out in paperback, as that is how I prefer to read.

    1. After I read this book I went back and bought all of the books in the series and read them all within 3-4 days. I LOVED it and HIGHLY recommend. It's a complete bummer that it's eBook only but I definitely recommend.
