Guest Post with Author Jade Lee and Giveaway #CMCon16

Meet Jade Lee/Kathy Lyons author of over thirty novels spanning both historical and contemporary romance and one of the fabulous featured authors that will be at the Coastal Magic Convention in February in Daytona Beach.

USA Today bestselling author Jade Lee has been scripting love stories since she first picked up a set of paper dolls. Ball gowns and rakish lords caught her attention early (thank you, Georgette Heyer), and her fascination with the Regency began. An author of more than thirty romance novels and winner of dozens of industry awards, Lee lives in Champaign, Illinois.

Capt Tightpants Anyone?

Long before there was Harry Potter, I discovered the CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. I loved the idea that a kid could walk through the back of a closet and discover an entire magical world of evil witches, friendly beavers, and, of course, my favorite umbrella guy, Mr. Tumnus. Check out this photo of him from IMDB.com.

I loved that series so much, I even wrote my undergraduate thesis on the series and (more important) I nightly dreamed of finding my own secret passageway to magical wonders.

Sadly, I have never found a portal in the back of my closet or anywhere else, but I did hit a wall in my publishing career. Too many deadlines, too much pressure, I had to take a break. And when I take a break, I wander in my imagination through a closet and have magical adventures. Except this time, I took it one step further.

I wrote it. And since I’m older, my heroine doesn’t meet Mr. Tumnus, but rescues a sword wielding prince from demented birds. And then I just kept going. Honestly, this book was created as an excuse for me to make Star Wars, Star Trek, and Firefly jokes. Capt. Tightpants anyone? Here he is on the right in this photo from dvdbash.com. Isn’t he just gorgeous?

Back to the story behind my story, as it spun on, I kept having more and more fun. I ended up with a full adventure that was fun from beginning to end with surprises around every corner. Because I love surprises.

Interested? I hope so, because I’m publishing the book as SEDUCING THE SKEPTIC and it will be available at the Coastal Magic Convention in Daytona Beach, FL from 4 – 7 February, 2016. Here’s the unofficial cover, and btw Nathan Fillion has NOT said that quote. It’s just a filler (fantasy) right now. Please don’t copy and paste it anywhere. And if you want a link, I can’t give you one. Why? Because it’s not up yet. You’ll have to find me at the conference! But in the meantime, here are a couple more books that I’ll have.

THE PLAYER NEXT DOOR by Kathy Lyons is a fun book about what happens when a NY Knick basketball player moves in next door to a quirky academic who knows nothing about sports or how to handle the media.

Not to be outdone, as Jade Lee, I will have two of my funny historicals. The one out now is 50 WAYS TO RUIN A RAKE. It’s one of those books where everyone has clever plan that goes horribly awry. It begins with an engagement of convenience and ends with a melee of epic proportions.

And since the conference isn’t until February, the next book will be out too.

ONE ROGUE AT A TIME is about a nobody girl who takes on the most powerful in the land to claim her rightful heritage. There’s a very handsome rogue who agrees to help her–for a price–only to fall hook, link, and sinker, for her and her ideals. I think of it as Han Solo’s love story done regency. What fun! Pre-order it now!

I can’t wait until February and COASTAL MAGIC!

An unexpected catch...

NBA star Mike Giamaria doesn't mix basketball with love. Ever. Then Mike meets Tori Williams, his cute, quirky new neighbor who seems hell bent on refurbishing her death trap of a house on her own. When she falls from her roof and into his arms, Mike knows he's just caught a whole heap of trouble.

Trouble sums up Tori's life. Despite her academic success, no one believes she can take care of herself-not her family, not her ex-boyfriend. She's determined to live her life on her own terms, and if that includes a hot summer fling with the super-sexy athlete next door, so much the better.

But when Tori's around, Mike can't keep his mind on basketball. He wants...more. And to his horror, not just more time on the court. When training starts, it's game over-it has to be-unless Tori can convince Mike that love doesn't belong on the sidelines.

Trevor Anaedsley’s grandfather has cut off his funds until he gets engaged. Beset by creditors, Trevor escapes to the country—ostensibly to visit his old tutor Mr. Smithson—where he meets Smithson’s lovely daughter Mellie. 1. Today -- Apparently I need a computer that works. *sigh* But it looks like my comments are getting through. Frankly, what I need most is caffeine. Awful habit. I was decaf since December but have fallen off the wagon. Quad mocha anyone with an extra shot? Good. Cause this one's for me!

  5. Oh I soooooooooo want to read SEDUCING THE SKEPTIC <3. I'm a huge fan of Firefly, Farscape, Star Wars and Star Trek, Have you seen The Last Starfighter and Star Kid? The kid getting into the "suit" and the symbiotic relationship between the two was awesome and hooked my son on Sci-Fi <3. I hope you self pub the story because that's when your author's voice just SINGS! Thanks for the post and giveaway.

  6. Both books sound great! I've been reading a lot of contemporary lately and have been feeling like a need to read some historicals! I love Capt. Mal. That show was awesome.

    1. I know. I was more sad about that than knowing that mom was Santa Claus.

  9. I want to read both of these books! Is it difficult to go back and forth between writing contemporary and historical books?

    1. THANK YOU! The next one is better, I think. One Rogue at a Time has those moments when I just rooted for the heroine to win, win, win that HEA. If the hero could just get over himself. Thank God he eventually does!

  12. I've only read your books writing as Kathy Lyons, time for me to check out Jade Lee! Is the only difference between the two, that one is contemporary and the other historical romance? :)

    1. That's it exactly. Jade is historical, Kathy is contemporary...sometimes with a dash of paranormal.
