RFTC I've Got a Secret Event with Author Sarah Castille

Sarah Castille is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Redemption Series, Sinner’s Tribe Motorcycle Club series, Legal Heat series and the Club Excelsior series. A recovering lawyer with a fondness for dirty-talking alpha males, she now is a full-time writer of contemporary romance and romantic suspense, who lives on Vancouver Island.

Hi everyone! With CHAOS BOUND, the fourth standalone book in the Sinner’s Tribe Motorcycle Club series, coming out this June, I’ve had a chance to revisit some of the characters from earlier books and one of my favorite outlaw bikers is reformed manwhore, Cade, from BEYOND THE CUT. Readers of the series may not know that I originally envisioned Cade as being much more violent and aggressive when it came to protecting Dawn early on in the story, but because he came on a bit too strong, I had to have Jagger, the president of the Sinner’s Tribe MC, hold him back so Cade and Dawn had time to develop their relationship. My secret is the following deleted scene featuring Cade unleashed!

Deleted Scene from Beyond the Cut (Sinner’s Tribe MC #2) by Sarah Castille (18+, NSFW)

Background: Dawn escaped from an abusive relationship with outlaw biker, Jimmy aka Mad Dog, only to have him come after her again and take away her two daughters. She meets Cade, a member of the rival MC, Sinner’s Tribe with whom she once had a brief affair. Cade realizes he made a mistake letting her go and is determined to both possess and protect her and reunite her with her children. In this scene Dawn has just told Cade how Jimmy abused her and her children.

Cade didn't know what to say, so he didn't say anything. He didn't know if he could control his rage—a living, seething beast within him—so he didn't move. Instead, he just held her, trying to tell her with his body what he couldn't say in words.

Finally, he found his tongue. He spoke because he knew she needed to hear him speak, and because if she didn't say something to keep him here, Mad Dog would die tonight. "First, what you went through—and I know you haven't told me everything—I don't have words. If Jagger hadn't tied my hands, I wouldn't rest until I made that bastard suffer. And the minute Jagger and Wolf come to some understanding, you have my word you will be avenged."

"Cade. I don't need—"

He held up a hand to cut her off, knowing what she was going to say. "Second, I promised to protect you and I will. Not because I have to, but because I want to. I'll protect you from anyone who tries to hurt you, but I can't protect you from me. I am who I am. Violence was part of my childhood and now it’s part of my life. But I would never lay a hand on you. And you know why."

Cade cupped her jaw and tilted her head back so he could look into her eyes, soft and green and brimming with emotion. He wanted to tell her she didn't have to worry. That he was nothing like Jimmy.

But it would have been a lie.

And after seeing him tonight in the ring, she would know.

He was exactly like Jimmy. His father had taught him to solve problems and deal with his stress with kicks and punches instead of words and emotions. He was utterly capable of the level of violence Jimmy had rained down on her.

And although he would never physically hurt her—after watching his mother suffer, the thought of physically hurting a woman made him sick—he could hurt her by being who he was, by the fear of what he might become.

She was right to be afraid. Because he knew the day would come when he would become the monster his father was. He would betray his cut and his creed and his brothers. He would lose the one woman he had been searching for all his life.

That would be the day he killed Jimmy.

  7. I'm glad you shared the deleted scene. I found Cade frustrating because he wasn't violent enough during the story based on his own feelings about himself or fighting hard enough to control his temper. And Dawn ending up with him was often confusing to me. I am looking forward to reading Zane's story and learning more about him.
