Blissfully Sweet Event with Sonya Weiss

Sonya Weiss is a freelance writer, ghostwriter and author. She's addicted to great books, good movies, and Italian chocolates.

She's passionate about causes that support abused animals and children. Her parents always supported her bringing stray animals home although the Great Dane rescue was a surprise.

Hi, everyone, Sonya here (waves).

I wrestled over this blog post for the past three days because I wondered what I could say that was interesting because I am a bit on the shy side. Then I finally thought, forget it. I’ll just be myself.

I’ll start by saying that I really am thrilled to be featured on this blog because it’s one of my favorites. I often visit to check out which books are being featured so I can find new ones to buy. I unashamedly admit that I am addicted to books and have (too many to count) waiting for me in my to be read pile.

If you don’t know me, here’s what went on in my writing life before we met today: I wrote three books for Entangled called the Stealing the Heart series featuring three sisters and the men that they love. One of the books in that series, Stealing the Groom, became an Amazon bestseller which was a huge, ugly cry thrill for me. Because it was the first book that sold. Because it was the book that holds a special meaning for me.

Now that you’re caught up, here’s what’s going on now: I’m working on editing the first book in a new series featuring firefighters-those hot heroes who run into danger to save lives. I’ve always respected firemen (and women) but after interviewing several, I have a newfound appreciation for all they go through in a day’s work. I hope that as the books in that series releases, you’ll be sure and check them out. In the meantime, take a look at Stealing the Groom, if you will.

In celebration of the upcoming holidays, I want to give one reader a $20 Amazon gift card so that you can buy yourself a new book to read. And if it’s a romance book set in a small town, be sure and let me know. I love those.

Friends don’t let friends marry the wrong woman…

Chad Walker may be a take-no-chances man with a plan, but there’s no way Amelia Snyder is going to let her best bud marry Mean Girl #1—even if the wedding is solely so he can secure the controlling shares in his family’s company. But free-spirited Amelia’s at-the-altar groomnapping scheme takes a surprising turn when she ends up as the blushing bride instead.

Suddenly, with Amelia living in her handsome husband’s home—in his bedroom, no less—she starts to reconsider their strictly platonic arrangement. But Chad’s always been anti-risk and definitely anti-love, and betting a lifetime of best friendship on the chance at forever might be the biggest gamble of all.

    1. Thank you! Stealing the Groom was the book that I almost didn't submit to a contest Marisa Cleveland had that led to getting my agent. I wrote that book just for me and never imagined it would be chosen. Such a thrill!

    1. I adore small towns. My dad had the wanderlust bug so I graduated from high school in a small town in the South.

  6. You're a new author for me! Yay. Anyway, what type of books do you ghostwrite?

    1. What I ghostwrite has run the gambit from nonfiction to fiction. I tend to stick mostly to romance, though, since it's what I know.

  10. Are there any future sales in the future and are you planning any boxset specials ?

    1. Box sets and sales are always up to the publisher. I don't have any control over that. I'm sure they'll do sales and specials in the future, though.

    1. I love stories that feature everyday heroes. I learned a lot that I didn't know. One of the firefighters that I spoke with told me that the majority of their calls are for accident assistance. I also learned that firefighters don't get food paid for by the county. They pay for their own food and whatever groceries are kept at the station. I didn't know that either.

  19. This series sounds fantastic. Can't wait to read it. Love the covers. Do you have any input in them?

    1. Thank you. Entangled always tries to incorporate author feedback on the covers. I've been fortunate that I've had great covers all along. When they updated the Bliss line, I got a new cover for Stealing the Groom and loved both of them. Then the Indulgence updated and I got a new cover for The Millionaire's Forever and loved that. Liz Pelletier worked on the original cover and it was amazing-showed the hero with his scars and tattoo on his back. I have a framed copy of that one.

  21. Which three things do you like to do the most besides writing?

    1. I love to read, I'm addicted to great TV shows and movies...currently watching Gotham and Fixer Upper...almost done with Containment (Netflix is my addiction!) Containment is a great, edge of the seat show but such a downer at times. It was cancelled, thought. And I love scrapbooking.
