Fall into Romance Event with Author Jennifer Shirk

Jennifer Shirk has a bachelor degree in pharmacy-which has in NO WAY at all helped her with her writing career. But she likes to point it out, since it shows romantic-at-hearts come in all shapes, sizes, and mind-numbing educations.

She writes sweet (and sometimes even funny) romances for Avalon Books/Montlake Romance and now Entangled Publishing. Her novel SUNNY DAYS FOR SAM won the 2013 Golden Quill Published Authors Contest for Best Traditional Romance and recently, her novel WEDDING DATE FOR HIRE was a 2016 Golden Leaf finalist for best short contemporary romance.

Lately she's been on a serious exercise kick. But don't hold that against her.

Hi, all! Jennifer here!

Thanks so much for having me for this FALL INTO ROMANCE event! I actually "fell" into romance reading when I became pregnant with my daughter about fifteen years ago. I went on early maternity leave and was in bed most of my pregnancy—when I wasn't at the library or at the store buying ginger ale and crackers. Oiy.

Anyway, I had been a Mary Higgins Clark fan up until that point, but once I ran out of her books to read, I decided to browse the library aisles and search for something new. All of a sudden I came across a shelf with rows and rows of books by one particular author. This author practically had a whole section to herself. I remember looking at all the books and thinking, "Hmm…she must be pretty good." So I picked up one of her books and decided to give it a shot.

That author was Nora Roberts and the book was Jewels of the Sun.

Have you read it? Oh, you should. It had EVERYTHING. Lovely scenery of Ireland, a hunky hero, comedy, family, and sigh worthy romance. Needless to say, I devoured everything she had written after that and I have been hooked on romance books ever since.

Nora's book offered a story about the three most important things in life: love, relationships, and families. And readers can easily identify with these subjects, which make romance books such a wonderful escape.

Well, after my daughter was born, I eventually found myself rewriting romance books in my head. So, I decided to try and write a romance for myself. Easier said than done! But I persisted and learned as I wrote. Three years later, I finally sold my first book, and again, have been hooked ever since.

Thanks for stopping by!

For this fun fall event, I'll be giving away a signed copy of Wrong Brother, Right Match!

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you read Nora Robert's Jewels of the Sun? Have you read ANY of Nora's books? Which one is your favorite?

Matchmaking guru Kennedy Pepperdine’s life is perfect. Perfect job. Perfect friends. Perfect boyfriend. Except...when she gets trapped in an elevator with a handsome stranger, she accidentally confesses a secret: maybe her perfect boyfriend, Justin, isn’t so perfect for her after all. But a matchmaker should be able to successfully match herself, right? Thankfully, she’ll never see the handsome stranger again. Until she heads home with Justin for the holidays and learns that the sexy stranger is none other than Justin’s older brother, Matt.

Matt Ellis is trying to be on his best behavior for his mother—it is Christmas, after all. But when he recognizes the beautiful woman from the elevator—the one he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about for months—his best behavior is being held by a thread. Matt’s always sacrificed for his family, and nothing is more important than their happiness, but the more time he spends around Kennedy, the more he wonders if her supposed "right match" might just be the wrong brother.

  5. I have a huge Nora Roberts collection. In fact, I've come to the conclusion that it needs it's own bookshelf. My favorite? That's a tough one. How about I go with favorite series? The Inn Boonsboro and The Bride Quartet are my two most recent favorites. For a classic, I'd choose The Irish Born Trilogy.

  7. I've read almost all of her books, and some of her alter ego, JD Robb. I think my daughter owns most of her books! And they're all still in MY house, in her old room, all in one multi-shelf bookcase. The Boonsboro trilogy is one of my favorites. Eventually I'll get to the newest trilogy.
