ARC Review: From the Start by Cheryl Etchison

I have become a huge fan of Cheryl Etchison's over the course of her American Valor series. With each book of hers I have read, she continues to impress me with her writing talent and is quickly becoming an author that I can't get enough of. From the Start is the third book in the American Valor series, but each book is a standalone story so don't worry about starting with this one if you haven't read the previous two books.

When Kacie finds herself at her sister's bachelorette party in need of saving, Michael MacGregor rushes in to save her. But while there is a chemistry and attraction to each other, Kacie is the one woman who wants nothing to do with Michael. As if him being in the military and being a surgeon weren't enough to make her run after her past, the fact that she is leaving at the end of the summer would. So when Kacie finds herself in a situation wanting to through caution to the wind, she knows Michael is just the man to help her out. What starts out as a summer fling turns into more, but Michael will have his work cut out for him convincing her to give a future a real shot.

I really liked these two. I felt their chemistry and the attraction between them right away. But there was so much more that was developing between them and I really enjoyed seeing that. Kacie had a past that made it hard to let someone in, especially with Michael having some things working against him right from the start. But I felt like he was so good for her and I was glad that she decided to shake things up a bit and do something out of character for her. Michael was a really great guy, and I felt like he needed Kacie just as much as she needed him. These two were just so good together.

Overall, another great book from Cheryl Etchison and I am loving this series! If you like contemporary romance and military heroes, this is definitely a series you need to check out! Cheryl Etchison seems to get better with each book she writes, and I can't wait to read more from her in the future.

ARC Review: Here and Now by Cheryl Etchison

Here and Now is the second book in the American Valor series by Cheryl Etchison. I am really loving this series, and am becoming a huge fan of Cheryl's. This series is emotional and both stories so far have been so good that I couldn't put either one of them down. If you are a contemporary fan and love military heroes, this series is a must read!

Former Ranger Medic Lucky James is adjusting to civilian life and has decided to work nights in the ER while attending classes during the day. Things are working out for him until his 19 year old lab partner shows up with dinner one night looking for more. Lucky knows that he needs help and asks his coworker Rachel to help him out. But Rachel is also in need of some help and agrees to help Lucky with his chem partner as long as Lucky will help move her out of her boyfriend's place so that she can finally break up with him. As Lucky and Rachel get to know one another, things start to change and both of them find themselves feeling far more than they expected. Can two people who weren't looking for love or a future find one together?

I really liked these two. I will admit that while I had liked Lucky in the first book of the series, I had been hoping to get Mike's story. But as soon as I started Here and Now, Lucky had me! Seeing him adjust to civilian life and start a friendship with Rachel was something that I couldn't get enough of. Lucky was such a great hero, and I thought that him and Rachel were fantastic together. Rachel was great as well, and even though these two weren't initially friends and didn't plan on anything more, they fit together perfectly. She helped him just as he helped her, and I felt like the connection they were forming was so real and genuine.

Overall, another great story in the American Valor series by Cheryl Etchison. I am so glad that I took a chance on Cheryl with Once and For All, because this series is everything I look for in a great Contemporary Romance series. I have really loved both books, and I think that readers will love these just as much as I have. Though I have never been through what any of these characters have, Cheryl Etchison has a way with words and I feel like there is something in each of these that anyone can relate to. Her characters are interesting and unique, and I have felt invested in each of them. I can't wait to read more from Cheryl Etchison, and I am still anxiously awaiting Mike's story!

Feature and Giveaway: Here and Now by Cheryl Etchison

The Rangers of the 1st/75th fight hard, train hard and play hard. They are physically strong and mentally tough, disciplined and courageous. But all their military training hasn't prepared them for falling in love.

Former Ranger Medic Lucky James feels right at home working long night shifts in the ER, but less so during the day, when his college classes are filled with flirtatious co-eds. When his 19-year-old chem lab partner shows up at his work with dinner for “her Lucky,” he quickly enlists the help of Rachel Dellinger, a nurse and fellow third shift vampire.

Rachel is a people pleaser at heart, but she’s finally decided enough is enough when it comes to her on-again, off-again boyfriend. When Lucky begs Rachel to help him ward off the advances of his teenager pursuer, she blackmails him into helping move her things out of the apartment she shared with her ex into a place all her own.

From there a friendship is born between two people just trying to make it through the night. Neither are living in the past or planning for the future. Until one day changes everything.

ARC Review: Once and For All by Cheryl Etchison

I couldn't wait to read Once and For All by Cheryl Etchison when I first read the blurb. This book pretty much checked all the boxes when it came to some of my favorite things in romance novels. I just can't say no to second chance love, friends to lovers, and a military hero! But while I was excited to read this story, I was a little nervous because this is Cheryl Etchison's debut novel. I shouldn't have worried at all though because this book was great! I loved it and I already can't wait for the next in the series!

While home on leave, Danny MacGregor comes face to face with Bree Dunbar, only she is no longer the same girl he left behind ten years ago. She lost her job, has battled cancer twice, and has been forced to stay with her parents to try and set herself up to once again be on her own and find a fresh start. Danny will do whatever it takes to help her, but no one is more shocked than him when he offers her a marriage of convenience. Though he is the last person Bree should take help from, she finds herself agreeing and the two of them come up with a plan to help her get back on her feet before she walks away from him. But both of them quickly discover that life has other plans for them, and feelings thought to be long gone are stronger than ever.

I really liked these two. I felt like they had both done things that were mistakes along the way, but they weren't done in a malicious way. Danny had struggled to find his place and he did what he thought he needed to. No he didn't handle things the best, but he wound up were he was supposed to be and he had never gotten over the guilt he felt of his actions and how they hurt Bree. It was nice to see him help her and rediscover all that they had before he had left plus get to know who she had become. Bree was one of those heroines that you couldn't help but like right away. She was smart and strong, and despite all that she had been through she was positive. She had moments where things got to her, but she didn't wallow or become bitter and she was determined to live her life on her terms. I loved that she let Danny back in and found a way to leave the past behind them and move forward. These two had a very strong connection and chemistry, and I really enjoyed seeing them take their history and build on it to create something lasting.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great, and the story was interesting and well written. Once I had started, I didn't want to put it down and read this one pretty much straight through. It was sweet and heartfelt, and I just loved it. I know this definitely won't be the last story I read from Cheryl Etchison, and I am already looking forward to more in this series! I really loved Danny's brother Michael, and I hope that he gets his own story soon because I would love to see more of him. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of military or contemporary romance books.
