ARC Review: Twisted Palace by Erin Watt
Twisted Palace is the third book in the Royals series by Erin Watt. Erin Watt being the writing duo of Elle Kennedy and Jen Frederick. If you haven't read the previous two books in the series, you will need to do so before reading Twisted Palace as this story is not a standalone and picks up where the second book left off.
Reed has been arrested for Brooke's murder, and his quick temper looks to have finally created an obstacle that he and Ella can't overcome. But Reed knows that if he is going to save himself and Ella, he will need to find a way to escape his past and unravel the secrets that they face. Can Ella and Reed find a way to save themselves and their families with all the obstacles that stand in their way? Or will Reed destroy them all, including Ella and his family?
While it was great to see familiar faces and start to get some answers, I felt like the spark was missing from this book. It just didn't pack the same punch that the first two did. This book was more angsty and suspense filled, and yet the pacing was very slow at times for me. I found my attention wandering and was even a bit bored at times. I never thought I would say that about this series, but this book just felt different and I can't say that was a good thing for me.
While I was glad to get some of the action towards the end of the book, I felt like a lot of this could have been added to the previous book and just been a bit longer. Things would drag and I really felt like this book wasn't entirely necessary. By the time the action started, it was over and everything felt rushed and wrapped up far too quickly and easily. I do love this world that Erin Watt has created, but I just think that this book could have been so much better had some of this been handled in the previous book, and other things focused on here. I would love for some of the other characters from this series to get books though, and I really hope that Erin Watt decides to write them. I do like this series a lot and I think readers will really enjoy this series, unfortunately this wasn't my favorite of the series and ended on a bit of a sour note for me as it really felt like they just ran out of steam and didn't quite know where to take things.

ARC Review: Broken Prince by Erin Watt
Broken Prince is the second book in The Royals series by the duo of Jen Frederick and Elle Kennedy writing as Erin Watt. This book is not a standalone and should only be read after Paper Princess as it continues the story that was started in the first book. After that cliffhanger I couldn't wait to see what would happen next for these characters and I enjoyed the book a lot.
Broken Prince picks up right where we were left at the end of Paper Princess. Ella is missing, and Reed will do whatever it takes to find her. As their world begins to fall apart, the Royals realize just how important Ella is to them. But Ella feels betrayed and has no intention of returning. Can Reed win back Ella, or will they end up destroying each other?
As much as I liked this book, I felt a bit of a disconnect here that I didn't feel in the first book. Normally I absolutely love a dual POV story, but in this case I found that I would have preferred the book told only from Ella's POV rather than that of both Ella and Reed. It felt a bit as if something was missing and I just couldn't connect the way I had in Paper Princess. Don't get me wrong, once I started I didn't want to put this one down. Reed and Ella were still great, and I loved the secondary characters here more than ever. I just felt like this one didn't have quite the same feel and I was a bit disappointed that it fell a bit into that sophomore slump. I did like that Reed and Ella's characters developed a bit more here, and it was great to get a bit more beneath the surface with each of them.
Overall, this book was really good, I just think maybe my expectations were a bit high here. I would have preferred the story told from Ella's POV and that affected how I experienced this story. I will warn readers that this story is still far from over, and yes this one does end with a cliffhanger again. I am excited for the next one though, and for my criticisms, I still really enjoyed this book and like this series. I am anxious for more from the duo of Erin Watt and look forward to Twisted Palace as well as hopefully many more from them to come.

ARC Review: Paper Princess by Erin Watt
I'll be honest and say that Paper Princess is one of those books that I wanted to read, yet I was kind of scared to start. I had heard so many people raving over this book that I began to wonder if it could really live up to the hype. Since I love books by both Elle Kennedy and Jen Frederick (the writing duo behind the name Erin Watt), I figured that I should finally break down and give this one a go before the second book in the series was released. Of course now that I have finished I can't believe I waited this long to read it, and I can admit that my fears were for nothing. This book was every bit as fantastic as everyone is saying it is.
Ella is survivor, doing what she has to in order to live and put herself through school now that her mother is gone and she is on her own. But then she meets Callum Royal, who takes her in and offers her a place in his mansion living along with him and his five sons. Though each Royal boy is captivating in his own way, it is Reed Royal who has her attention. But Reed Royal is determined to get rid of Ella and send her back where she came from.
I absolutely loved the characters in this book, from secondary to main, they were all so unique and different. I felt like the authors did a great job of creating this world and I couldn't get enough! There is some steam in this book, but honestly this one falls somewhere between YA and NA for me. I adored Callum though he isn't the hero of the book. Every scene he was in was so much fun to read, and I really loved how sweet and almost awkward he is. Ella was strong and easy to like, I loved how determined she was and the fact that she was such a survivor. Things between her and the five Royal brothers were fun and playful, and I was glad that while they could be mean at times and picked on Ella, it wasn't done in a truly horrible or cruel way. But Reed was probably my favorite, and I just loved him.
I know that I probably sound repetitive and extremely biased, but I can honestly say that this book was just a fantastic all around read that I didn't want to put down. There were twists and turns, and I will warn there is a cliffhanger here. But I would definitely recommend this one and I am already anxious for more. This world is so much fun, and I can't wait to see what Elle and Jen (writing as Erin Watt) have in store for us next with Broken Prince. If you haven't taken the chance on this one yet, you absolutely should!

Interview with Author Erin Watt and Giveaway
My name is Jen Frederick and I live in Iowa with my husband, daughter, and very large dog. I really want a cat though. I keep telling my husband that I won’t be a real writer until I have a cat. I didn’t realize I wanted to be a fiction writer until a few years ago. At the encouragement of a few friends, I turned a NANO manuscript into a real book and I’ve been publishing ever since.
In my downtime, I love to read, craft, and cook. I used to sew for my daughter until she developed a taste for ready made garments. Now the sewing machine is stored away but someday I home to pull it out again.
The best part of writing is interacting with other readers. I love to share what I’m reading and I love to hear what has moved you. Don’t hesitate to contact me at any time!
A USA Today bestselling author, Elle Kennedy grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, and holds a B.A. in English from York University. She loves strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes, and just enough heat and danger to keep things interesting!
