ARC Review: Tell Me You Need Me by Joya Ryan

This is my first Joya Ryan novel and I immensely enjoyed the experience. I'm already checking to see what else I can get my hands on by her and I will certainly be back for the story of Gage's friend East.

Tell Me You Need Me is kind of interesting twist on some of the usual romance themes. There are commitment issues because what is a romance novel without commitment issues but in this book both the main characters have the issues. Chloe and Gage have been carrying on a two year long 'now you see me, now you don't' super hot long distance romance. Gage is a e search and rescue specialist, his job takes him all over the country but during his down time, he is giving Chloe the business in the bedroom and it is HAWT. Chloe is running her mother's restaurant and is tethered to her home town where Gage occasionally visits. The interesting thing is that Gage wants to commit to a woman, but not a geographic location and Chloe is committed to the location but she can't bring herself to commit to a man.

For Chloe's part, she watched her Mother suffer from a broken heart after being abandoned by her Father and is adamant that she will not suffer the same fate. The only way Chloe can come up with to avoid being hurt is to never open herself up to a man. But ohhhhh Gage is my favorite bossy alpha Hero who doesn't give a single eff about Chloe's defenses. Gage has a few weeks in town and decides he wants to explore where things could go with Chloe and he slowly works to break down her defenses. What I loved about Gage's courtship of Chloe was the twist where Gage denies Chloe sex until she opens up more to the possibility of a relationship. I got a kick out of Chloe trying to figure out the romance thing after a life time of closing herself off to the possibility. I also found Chloe's efforts to get Gage to give it up thoroughly entertaining.

I love the writing of this book, I enjoyed the main characters and the supporting characters, the dialogue is engaging and fun to follow, all in all I highly recommend this book. The only reason this was not a 5 star read for me was because some of the reciting of Chloe's reasons for not wanting to be in a relationship got a little repetitive. I was like I get it, I get it, you don't want to be hurt like your Mom was. The other issue for me was that I did not understand Gage working so hard to get Chloe to commit to him (knowing she had commitment issues) without changing his mind about his willingness to commit to Chloe's hometown. I was especially puzzled by Gage because his friend East explicitly told him that his plan didn't make sense and he still wouldn't listen to reason. It works out in the end but Gage's continued inability to change while wanting Chloe to change certainly caused some extra drama in the book. It irritated me enough that I dropped one star off my rating but honestly, drama can be fun and adds a little complexity to the plot. So it doesn't change my enthusiastic recommendation of this author or this book that Gage acted like a dumbazz, I mean he is a guy.

ARC Review: Rules of Seduction by Joya Ryan

The Serve Series continues with Joya Ryan taking over where Tessa Bailey and Katee Robert left off. Rules of Seduction is the seventh Serve novel, but each can be read as standalone. I knew I wanted to read this one, but I was a little anxious since Joya had some seriously big shoes to fill with Tessa and Katee having written such great stories to begin the series with. That being said, Joya Ryan did a really great job with Nolan and Ava's story and I really enjoyed this book.

After having her ex control her every move and decision, Ava is looking to take things into her own hands for once. Though she wants a man that will take control in the bedroom, she refuses to let anyone control her life or own her. Seeking to keep things strictly sexual, she turns to Serve, the exclusive BDSM club for her needs. There she meets with Nolan Hart, who will help her find what she is looking for. At first Nolan can't believe that his newest client's wishes could really be as open as they are, or that they would align so perfectly with his own desires. But the more he talks to her, the harder it is to deny that they are a match sexually. Since Ava is looking for complete anonymity, he figures the blindfold he plans to use on her will keep his secret. He will be the one to fulfill her needs, and she will never have to know it was him all along. But the more time these two begin to spend together outside of Serve, the more Ava and Nolan begin to fall for one another. What happens when Ava starts to catch on that her mystery man and Nolan might be one and the same?

I really liked Nolan and Ava. These two were super hot together, and I loved the friendship they were forming. They were able to be open and honest, and it was great to see them talking about their desires with one another. Not only were they super sexy, but you could really see that they were starting to click with one another beyond just the physical. Nolan always knew what Ava needed, and he was able to provide that for her without judgement. He might have been alpha and assertive in the bedroom, but he was also thoughtful and kind and really took care of Ava. Ava needed to see that not all men would try and control every aspect of a woman's life, and Nolan could not have been more perfect for her.

Overall, I really enjoyed this sexy story. Nolan and Ava were great, and I loved how they were with one another in and out of the bedroom. This book was a quick read, and I couldn't put it down as I had to know how things would go for these two. I highly recommend this new addition to the Serve series, and if you haven't read the others those are great as well. I am looking forward to reading more from Joya Ryan in the future.

ARC Review: Chasing Temptation by Joya Ryan

Chasing Temptation is the second book in the Chasing Love series by Joya Ryan. Each book can be read as a standalone novel with interconnected characters. I hadn't read the first book in the series, but I didn't have any problems understanding this one. While I was really looking forward to this book since it was one of my favorite tropes, this one was just okay. There were a few things I liked, but it ended up not being what I had hoped for.

Penny Diamond is tired of being the good girl that has no social life. She had one bad sexual experience years ago with her ex, but since then her brother has kept away all the guys that had any possibility. Now she has set her sights on the one man that she has always wanted, her brother's best friend Sebastian Strafford. Sebastian doesn't do relationships, and he has been fighting his attraction to his best friend's little sister Penny for as long as he can remember. But when Penny sets out to seduce him, he decides that it is better for it to be him than some other guy. They agree to two weeks (Sebastian's normal terms) in which they will explore their desires and Sebastian will teach Penny about sex, before walking away and returning to friends only. But soon they are both falling for each other and finding themselves in unfamiliar territory. But will their new feelings be enough to risk everything for a chance at a real relationship?

While I liked both Sebastian and Penny, I didn't really connect with them. For me, we never really got to see the emotional connection between them. This story was primarily about their physical connection, and while I enjoy a good sex scene as much as the next girl, I felt like that was all we got from these two. Yes they were super hot and the chemistry was off the charts, but I felt like we didn't ever really get to know them that well. Penny was always asking to get to know Sebastian, and it pretty much never happened. We got a few details here and there, but for the most part it was either them getting down, or Sebastian brooding. I was excited to see them take things to the next level and I thought that this one was going to be very interesting considering Sebastian's penchant for control and rough sex combined with Penny being known as a good girl. But unfortunately, it just didn't ever really click for me. If felt like something was missing, and I really believe that it was that I just didn't buy the emotional connection between them.

While I did have problems with this story, I thought that Joya Ryan did a great job with the steamy scenes in this book. They were well written and extremely hot, and I thought that she really showed the passion and desire between Sebastian and Penny. I was just looking for something more though, and I wanted to see their feelings really start to show and make the sex between them that much more deep and meaningful. I think that if you are looking for a sexy story though, this one definitely delivers there. Fans of the first book will enjoy seeing familiar faces and getting to know these characters better. I am interested to go back and read the first story to see how Colt and Jenna got together since this story centered around them getting married. I will give Joya Ryan's books a shot again in the future, and hope that I can connect with other characters of hers better than I did in this one.
