ARC Review: Duke of Manhattan by Louise Bay

I am such a fan of Louise Bay's! She never disappoints me and Duke of Manhattan was no exception! If you have read King of Wall Street Scarlett will be familiar to you, however this book is a true standalone and is easily read without having read King. I definitely recommend reading King of Wall Street though if you haven't as it is another great one! 

Scarlett King is trying to move forward with her life after a divorce she never saw coming. Out to prove her ex wrong, she and her sister go out which ends in a one night stand. Ryder Westbury is set to inherit his family's title of Duke and all that goes with it, however in order to do so he will have to find a wife, the last thing he wants to do! But when he enters the boardroom the next day of the company he is looking to invest in, he is shocked to see Scarlett there. Can Scarlett and Ryder possibly have more than one sexy night together?

I liked these two. They were hot together and I couldn't get enough of them. I really felt like these two were perfect for one another. Their banter was so great and I just enjoyed it from start to finish. I loved that Scarlett was strong and that their relationship seemed to develop so genuinely. They were not only super sexy together, but there was a sweetness between them that really had me swooning with every interaction. 

Overall, another really great book from Louise Bay. I will say that the one thing that kept me from giving this one five stars was that while there wasn't any OM/OW drama, they were brought up a lot as far as comparisons go. Both Ryder and Scarlett were constantly comparing the other to those from their past and that got a bit old for me. Otherwise these two were great and I loved their story. I have yet to find a Louise Bay book that I didn't love, and Duke of Manhattan was no different. I highly recommend it.

ARC Review: Park Avenue Prince by Louise Bay

Park Avenue Prince was another great read from Louise Bay! I am a huge fan of hers, and she always writes such sweet and sexy stories. This one was no exception and I enjoyed it from start to finish. 

Sam has worked hard to make his billions and build his empire, and it has left little time for much else. While he knows what it takes to win over a woman, everything is limited to one night with him. But then he meets Grace and everything is suddenly different. Grace is tired of the rich men that she has always known and thinks that Sam is no different. But Sam is determined to show her that he knows how to rule in the bedroom and that they belong together.

I really liked Sam and Grace. Grace is feisty and sweet, and I loved that she was determined to be successful on her own. She was smart and a heroine that I felt I could relate to. Same was very similar in that he was a hard worker and was very determined when it came to what he wanted in life. His reasons were completely different than Grace's, but I loved that they had a lot in common when it came to their drive and determination. These two were sexy and I felt their connection right away. 

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and the characters. Louise Bay is a fantastic writer and she has never let me down yet. I always know that I will enjoy her books and they are each different while still having everything that I look for in a great romance. I cannot recommend her books enough, and I think that readers are going to love Park Avenue Prince.

ARC Review: Love Rehab by Louise Bay

I really love Louise Bay's books, and at this point I don't even read the blurbs anymore. She has never let me down yet, so when I see something with her name on it I know I am going to read it. Not only does Love Rehab have a gorgeous cover, but the story itself is just as beautiful. This one was sweet and heartwarming and I really enjoyed it.

After her third engagement ends with yet another fiancé dumping her before the wedding, Mackenzie heads with her two best friends from Boston for a love rehab retreat in Oklahoma. She hopes to learn what it is about her that makes men fall out of love with her so easily. But what she never expects is to meet and fall for sexy "uncowboy" Blake McKenna. But with Blake living in Oklahoma and Mackenzie soon headed back to Boston, will they find a future together or will Mackenzie be alone once again? 

I really liked both Blake and Mackenzie. Both were struggling with where their lives were headed and had things that they needed to work on or decide. I loved that they helped each other out by listening and being there for one another. They had a great connection right off, and I really enjoyed seeing that deepen the more they got to know one another. They were exactly what each of them needed and I loved them together. They also had really strong chemistry and I loved the heat between them. 

I will say that while I really enjoyed this story, things were a bit on the cheesy side at times with this being a very sweet story. While I enjoy a sweet and heartwarming romance, this one was a bit too sweet at times for me. I liked the characters, but things got a little too self-help at times and there were some overly harsh things said by Mackenzie's best friends at times. It just felt a bit forced and didn't seem to fit at times. I still really liked the book though, and Louise Bay is one of my go-to authors for great contemporary romance stories. If you are looking for something sweet and heartwarming, this is definitely one worth checking out.

ARC Review: King of Wall Street by Louise Bay

I am a huge fan of Louise Bay's! Every time I see that she has a new book, I automatically add to my TBR list. But I have to admit that I was really excited about King of Wall Street. I could not put this one down, and I think readers are going to enjoy this one just as much as I did! 

Max King is the King of Wall Street. He is always right and rules the boardroom as well as the bedroom. But at home, Max is a single dad just trying to keep his teenage daughter out of trouble and a kid as long as possible. When Harper Jayne starts working at his firm, he knows that he is in trouble. While she infuriates him like no woman before, he finds himself more drawn to her than he would like. But the more he tries to fight it, the harder it is to keep things professional. 

Max was hot! Sexy and alpha, he definitely knows how to rule those around him. But Max was also sweet and caring and I absolutely loved him. It was so refreshing to see an alpha that could be commanding but didn't turn into a controlling jerk that I couldn't stand. Harper had her moments for me though, and while I liked her for the most part I did get a bit frustrated with her at times. The chemistry between them was off the charts, but Harper had some issues that had her making some annoying decisions along the way. 

Overall, this was a great book like everything I have read from Louise Bay and I highly recommend it. Louise Bay is fantastic at writing sexy stories filled with emotion and substance to keep you turning the pages, and King of Wall Street had everything that I look for in a great romance novel. If you haven't read anything by her before, you are seriously missing out. If you are already a fan, this is one you must read! I already can't wait to see what she writes next.

ARC Review: Indigo Nights by Louise Bay

I am a huge fan of Louise Bay's! With each new book of hers that comes out, she just solidifies herself as an auto-buy author for me and I know I will enjoy every book I read from her. I have to say though that Indigo Nights is my absolute favorite book of hers yet! It is so hard to pick between her books for me but after finishing Indigo Nights, Dylan and Beth are definitely my favorite couple of hers. While this book is a standalone, it is connected to What the Lightning Sees and Calling Me. 

Beth Harrison has used the years since becoming sober to find herself and start a career pursuing her passion for baking. So when she meets a sexy stranger at the airport, the last thing she expects is to start a relationship with everything else going on in her life. Dylan James knows that women want him for his money and power, and he is fine with that in exchange for sex. He keeps things casual and never sees a woman for long. But Beth Harrison is unlike any woman he has met before, and he can't get her off his mind after meeting her. With Beth living in London and Dylan living in Chicago, they know that things need stay casual, but what happens when feelings start to develop and it becomes more than just cake and orgasms? 

I absolutely loved these two! From their very first meeting I was hooked and it just got better as the story continued! The way that they met and things got started was so much fun to read about, and these two were so hot together! Dylan and Beth were so sexy I don't know how my kindle didn't burst into flames! The dirty talk between them was fantastic, and you could just feel the attraction between them. But I also really loved that these two could talk about everything right from the start, and Beth wasn't afraid to tell Dylan who she was and what she had been through. He was great for her, just as she was for him. These two had something so undeniable and special, and it was so great to see something different here with these two. 

Overall, this book was just fantastic. I finished it and immediately wanted to dive back in because I wasn't ready to be done with Dylan and Beth. These two were sexy and I enjoyed the steam between them, but I also loved how fun and flirty they could be too. Louise Bay had the perfect balance of sex, emotion, and romance here and I had a blast reading this book. I didn't want to put it down, yet wanted to savor each bit of it. I highly recommend any of Louise Bay's books, but this one should be at the top of your list! I know this will be one of those that I reread again in the future, and I already can't wait to go back and experience this story again!

ARC Review: Calling Me: The Complete Series by Louise Bay

I have been waiting for Luke and Ashleigh's story since I first read Louise Bay's Lightning series. I really loved Haven and Jake's story, but I knew there was so much gonig on between Luke and Ashleigh and I couldn't wait to get more of these two. Fans of the Lightning series will recognize Luke and Ashleigh as she is Haven's best friend and Luke is Haven's brother. Not only did I really enjoy the Calling Me series because it just so happens to be one of my favorite tropes, but it was also just a really great story. Louise Bay has never disappointed me yet, and this series was yet another example of why I rush to get whatever books her name is attached to. If you are a fan of contemporary romance, Louise Bay is definitely an author that you should be reading. 

Ashleigh Franklin has been in love with her best friend's brother for as long as she can remember. But after years of him never seeing her as more than another sister, she is finally trying to move on. But just when she thinks she finally has a chance at doing just that, Luke breaks up with his longtime girlfriend and realizes that the one he wants has been right in front of his face all along. But Ash isn't convinced that he has suddenly changed and that he wants a future with her. Can Luke prove to Ash that they belong together and are more than just friends, or will they destroy everything in the process including the friendship they share as well as that between Ashleigh and Haven? 

I will admit that I was very frustrated with Ash at times throughout this story, and she really got on my nerves. As much as she irritated me though, I also understood a bit of where she was coming from. While I wanted her to just take that chance and throw caution to the wind, I knew that she was just trying to protect herself and ease the risk of getting hurt. I thought that Luke had moments where he really shined here, and I ended up loving him far more that I thought possible. I loved Jake so much in the lightning series and he was my favorite of Louise Bay's heroes until I read the Calling Me series, and I really think that Luke might have topped him here. I still love them both, but there was just something about Luke here. He was sexy and impossible not to fall for. The best thing about this series to me though was the connection and friendship between Luke and Ashleigh. They were close from having been around each other for so many years, and yet seeing them get to know one another in an entirely new way just showed how much closer they could grow. The chemistry had always been there as well, but to see it finally explode here was beyond steamy and I couldn't get enough. 

Overall, this was another really great series from Louise Bay. I am so glad that I waited to read all of these stories at once as I am not sure that I would have been able to handle the wait in between with the cliffhangers. Luckily if you haven't read this series yet, they are all available now and you won't have to wait either. The Calling Me series includes Calling Me Back, Calling Me Away, and Calling Me Home. These do need to be read in order as they are not standalone stories, and I recommend having some time available before starting as once you start you are not going to want to stop. I definitely recommend this series and I cannot wait to read more from Louise Bay in the future.

ARC Review: What the Lightning Sees: Part 3 by Louise Bay

Part 3 of What the Lightning Sees picks up where Louise Bay left us after Part 2. Make sure that you have read the first two installments before starting this one since Haven and Jake's story continues from one part to the next. After the huge bombshell that was dropped at the end of part two, Jake is left trying to figure out what he should do. He just won Haven back and knows that this will change everything for not only his life, but the future he is building with Haven. Though he knows things are about to change, he is determined to make things work with Haven and will do whatever it takes to keep her from running. But can Jake and Haven have a future together when faced with their biggest obstacle yet? 

As with previous installments, Jake and Haven each had their moments when I loved them and when they drove me nuts. Things were so complicated in this installment, and they had so much to try and deal with. One thing that I absolutely loved though was the progress that Haven had made. When Jake let her know what was going on, I felt like she handled things so well and didn't try to run. She faced them and was the support he needed. She loved him so much and I was glad to see that she had come so far. I felt like she had gained so much strength and maturity, and even when she was hurting she was able to see what she needed to do rather than what her fear and insecurities were telling her. Jake was also struggling with everything, and I felt really badly for him as well. He had so much on his plate and it was easy to see how much it was all weighing on him. I think that he handled things poorly a few times and that there were so many things that he should have seen coming, and yet I also understand that he was just trying to be the great guy that we know he is. I think that he should have fought harder for Haven at times, and I was disappointed that he didn't after everything that had happened in part 2. These two were meant to be together and made one another their best selves, so for him to just give that up without much of a fight was very frustrating to me. 

I did like the ending though, and I was glad to see how things worked out for these two. I felt like it was inevitable that they would wind up together, because there was no other option to me. Jake and Haven's journey was far from easy, but I think that everything that they were dealt made them stronger in the long run. They grew as individuals as well as a couple, and I think that the progress they showed was interesting to see happen. Jake and Haven understood one another in a way that no one else did, and their connection just continued to get stronger. They had great chemistry and that never changed throughout the entire story. I will say that I loved the secondary characters in this serial, and I would love to get a story for Jake's sister Beth as well as a story for Haven's brother and best friend! I liked them a lot and would love to see what happens next for each of them. I think that this was a good story overall, and once you start reading these you won't want to stop. Haven and Jake are worth the read, and I look forward to more from Louise Bay in the future.

ARC Review: What the Lightning Sees: Part Two by Louise Bay

Part Two of What the Lightning Sees picks up right where Louise Bay left us at the end of Part One. If you haven't read part one, make sure that you read that before starting this one as the story continues from one installment to the next. Haven and Jake had been growing closer until Haven heard a conversation between Jake and her boss. Though Jake does his best to explain the situation to Haven, she realizes that he she can't let him continue to get under her skin. She decides to keep things strictly business between them from that point on. But when they get another assignment together, the subject brings forth anger and jealousy and forces them to face the feelings between them. Will Jake fight to get Haven back, or will they continue to try and ignore the connection between them?

I loved Jake and Haven so much in the first book, and for the most part that continued here. I did think that Jake gave up a bit too easily when it came to the trying to get Haven back. I wanted him to fight for her, and I felt like it took him far too long to get to the point that he should have been. He just accepted what Haven told him and allowed her to push him away without really allowing him to explain what had happened or what was going on between them. I wanted him to force the issue a bit more than he did. I also felt like he should have talked to her more about the situation with one of her dates, and why he wanted her to stay away from him. I understood his reasoning and that he had made a promise to his sister, but if he felt like she was in that much of a bad situation around this guy I felt like he should have been able to tell her because that was more important. I did like that Haven didn't change who she was after what she had heard. She remained true to herself and I really felt like that was important. I loved that she was independent and thought for herself, and she didn't allow others to tell her who she should be or what she should do. 

Overall, this was a good installment and I am really needing the next installment. As with the first there is a cliffhanger and we are left wondering what will happen next for these two. I did think that there was a lot of angst and push and pull in this one, but I am enjoying the journey for these two. I like them together and I really think that they are good for one another. I am curious what Louise Bay has in store for these two next, and I am really looking forward to seeing how things play out. I really enjoy Louise Bay's writing style, and I think that her stories are well written and entertaining. I am looking forward to not only the next installment, but also to more from her in the future.

ARC Review: What the Lightning Sees: Part One by Louise Bay

What the Lightning Sees Part One by Louise Bay was fantastic! I loved this first installment to her new novella series, and I honestly can't wait for more! Since this is the first part of three in the series, there is a cliffhanger. The ending left me wanting more, and I cannot wait for Part 2. I am so glad that I read this installment, even knowing that I have to wait for more, as I absolutely loved Jake and Haven together! 

When Haven lands a huge story at her work, she knows that it is exactly what she needs in order to help her secure the promotion that she is after. She knows that she isn't well liked at the office, but she is determined to do her job as professionally as possible in order to achieve her goals. But when the new replacement photographer on the story shows up and it is another friend of her boss, she immediately suspects the worst. His friends are always rich and spoiled, and she hates that they have such a sense of entitlement. Things get off on the wrong foot between them, but knowing that they have to work together they form a sort of truce. The more time they spend together though, the more Haven begins to realize that she might have been wrong about Jake and the chemistry between them begins to grow. Soon they are both beginning to see each other in a new light and are wanting to explore the connection between them. 

I will admit that I didn't like Haven at all at the beginning of this story. She came off extremely bitchy, and she was so judgmental. But soon we get to see more of her, and there was so much more than just her first impression. I loved seeing her with her best friend and brother, as it gave us a completely new side to her! She wasn't just the uptight and buttoned-up professional, but she was also able to let her hair down and have some fun. I was really glad that Jake got to see it as well, and I liked how he went about flirting with her. Jake wasn't like what Haven had first thought at all, and although he was rich, he had worked for everything he had. He was smart and successful, and I loved that he was determined to continue working though he didn't need to. He was a smart businessman, but he was also a great photographer that was really modest about his work. The chemistry he had with Haven was off the charts, and I loved that he was into her even when she was prickly. He knew just how to get her to shut up when needed, and I liked that he was able to see beneath her facade. He saw so much more in her than most people did at first glance, and I enjoyed seeing these two get to know one another.

Overall, this was a great first installment. The ending left me not only wanting more, but needing to know what would happen next! I loved Jake and Haven together, and I thought that they were perfect for one another. I loved the banter between them, and that combined with the sexual tension was enough to create the perfect build up to their inevitable explosion. There was so much going on between them, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen! I have to say that I am also really intrigued with Haven's brother Luke and her best friend Ash. They are so interesting to me, and I love what I am seeing between those two as well. I really hope that they continue to be such a big part of this story, because I love their relationships with Haven as well as the back and forth they have going on between them. Can't wait to see what happens next for all these characters, and part two cannot get here soon enough! I highly recommend this story, and I think that readers will really enjoy this story as much as I did.

ARC Review: Hopeful by Louise Bay

Hopeful is the first book that I have ever read by Louise Bay, but this book is actually a standalone sequel to her book Faithful. I really love second chance love stories, so I couldn't wait to read this one. I ended up enjoying it a lot, and there were only a few things that kept this one from being a five star read for me. But I was really invested in the story right from the start and didn't want to put it down because I had to know what would happen for Joel and Ava. I can't wait to go back and read Faithful as well as the next book in this series.

Ava lost the love of her life eight years ago, and has had trouble moving on ever since. She still has her great group of friends as well as a successful career, but her friends just can't understand why she doesn't date. When she finds out that her ex will be returning to town, she decides that it is time to get over him once and for all. But she quickly realizes that it isn't fair to those that she would date when her heart still belongs to someone else. The draw between Joel and Ava is still there after all these years, but there is more than just the time apart that stands in their way. Can Ava convince Joel that things will be different this time and that their second chance is worth the risk?

I really liked Joel. He was great both in the past and the present. I thought that he was sweet and kind, and also really sexy. He was really adorable with Ava, and I loved how simple things started off between them. It was great to see them go from being sort of friends and study buddies to more between them. But Joel was amazing, and he really wanted to show Ava that things between them were more than just physical. I loved that he took it slow and showed her what she meant to him. I thought that Ava's actions didn't really make sense in the past. I didn't understand her reluctance to be honest with her friends and explain what was going on. There was no reason that I could see for her to keep so many things a secret and it drove me nuts. But I liked Ava from the present and it was good to see her finally figure things out and do what she should have done all along. I was glad that Joel made her earn it and didn't just go along with what she was saying. I felt like she needed to take action, and it was good to finally see that happen. I thought that Joel and Ava had great chemistry and that was clear from the start.

My main reason for this one being only four stars instead of five was that I didn't really care for the back and forth between past and present. While that is common in stories, it felt unnecessary in this one. I wish things would have been done differently, and I hated the back and forth switch. I kept getting confused which was which and I just felt it wasn't executed properly most of the time. I also felt like the big blowout for their breakup was sort of anticlimactic after it was finally revealed what had happened in the past. Because of the format I was expecting something more, and found it to be a let down. I did really like Ava and Joel's connection though, and I was interested enough that I didn't want to stop reading until I had finished. I just personally wished for a different format as to how everything was laid out for the reader. I will definitely read more from Louise Bay in the future though and look forward to getting more of this group of characters. I would recommend giving this book a shot if you are looking for a second chance love story.
