Feature and Giveaway: Dirtiest Little Secret by Skye Jordan

She is his fantasy…

Ava Jennings has spent her life dedicated to her family’s steel business. So when she catches her fiancĂ© engaging in extracurricular activities under his desk with a coworker, Ava fires him on the spot. With her self-esteem at an all-time low, Ava throws caution to the wind and heads to a well-known, wild biker bar. She’s determined to prove she’s capable of the spontaneous, wicked-hot sex her fiancĂ© was searching for outside their relationship. And she finds all that and more in a rugged, edgy motorcycle mechanic, the one man in the bar who eclipses all the others.

He’s her dirtiest little secret…

Isaac Banks doesn’t talk to members of the Steel Warriors motorcycle club about his painful past. All they know is he’s the best bike mechanic in the state, which is exactly how he likes it. Ava doesn’t recognize him as the awkward kid who used to spend Sunday nights at her dinner table with their families, but she’s sure interested in the man she thinks he is now. She’s from the world he left behind, and he knows he should walk away—but it’s impossible to say no to the woman who starred in all his adolescent fantasies. All he wants is one night to get her out of his system. Because there was no way she could live up to his dreams.

But he’s wrong. One night will never be enough.

ARC Review: Relentless by Skye Jordan

I have read all of the books in the Renegade series and generally I liked every one of them but this one had a different feel to me. The connection between Troy and Giselle was on a different level than the relationships in the other books (I’m not saying it’s better, it was just different). This was the first book where the couple in the story had a prior relationship. Normally, I don’t go for second chance love. I don’t know why, maybe I’m just a cold witch but I’m usually like if you blew it the first time around, I don’t want to hear from you ever again. In life or in writing. I’m like the Grinch of second chance romance, my heart is 2 sizes too small. But I digress (as usual). I may have been playing second chance romances short because history between the main characters allows for a far richer dynamic in the present day relationship .

In the case of Troy and Giselle, they had been together as teenagers and early in their adult years. Troy and Giselle met in the foster care system and formed a bond based on their joint struggles against abuse and just for basic survival. Troy was Giselle’s protector and later, her lover. Giselle had a gift for singing which Troy helped her to develop and promote in the early days. When Giselle eventually begins to achieve fame and recognition, she and Troy don’t know how to navigate the shifting landscape of their lives or their relationship so they eventually separate. The breakup is ugly because of the intensity of the feelings involved. Seven years later the two are not over each other and reunite in a very sexy albeit totally unexpected way. Despite their intense physical chemistry, the book chronicles their journey from lust to hurt and anger to forgiveness and back to love.

The thing that really left an impression on me about this book is the way the author conveys the intensity of the feelings between Troy and Giselle. Whether the feelings were positive or negative, the story is told in a way that you feel it which connects you to the characters. From the first page, you have a clear picture of Troy’s pain over the past and his desire to just forget. The thing that is compelling about Giselle is her contradictions. On the outside Giselle is famous and beautiful and put together. But on the inside, everything is just a hot mess. I loved that both Troy and Giselle saw through each other’s facades and were able to tell one another the truth about each other even when they had a hard time accepting the truth about themselves.

I absolutely love the ups and downs between Troy and Giselle. The issues that arise for both of them didn’t come across as unnecessary angst. Instead it felt more like genuine conflict that would occur given their situation. And the sex was just very very HAWT!!! To get such a well told story and great sex is like a fried doughnut with no calories. Life just doesn’t get any better than that!

For all you Renegade fans, we do get an update on some of the other Renegades who make brief appearances in this book. I would also like to say for those of you, like me, who read the last book about Ryker and Rachel, if you didn’t love that one, this one is much better. I liked the last book but there was entirely too much information about Hollywood stunts and PTSD for me. This book doesn’t veer away from the story of the main characters so even if you’re hesitant, don’t be, this book is worth reading. Look at that, I’m all about the second chances today.

ARC Review: The Risk by Skye Jordan

The Risk is the first book in the Xtreme Heroes Series by Skye Jordan. I am such a sucker for sports romance stories, and I knew I had to read this book after reading the blurb. While this book was a bit predictable, it was a really good story and I enjoyed reading it. Noah and Julia were a great couple, and I liked seeing them both overcome their issues.

Julia Bailey is a former Olympic swimmer that turned physical therapist after suffering a career ending shoulder injury. After a scandal with a client though, she has been working at a home for the elderly rather than helping athletes with their rehabilitation like she loves. When a friend shows up telling her that he needs her help with a client, Julia is quick to say no. But soon she finds herself agreeing and sets out to help him out. Noah Hunt is a professional snowboarder that has been struggling to heal after an ankle injury. Having gone through three therapists already, he has decided to take his care into his own hands. But months after his injury he is getting nowhere and things are worse than ever. After first trying to get rid of Julia, he finds himself drawn to her and agrees to go along with her plan in order to keep her close by. Noah wants Julia as more than just his therapist, but she has no interest in getting personal with a client after her past. But the longer they are around one another, the more their feelings for one another grow. Can Julia and Noah find a way to have it all, or will the risk be too much?

I liked Julia and Noah. They both had moments where they frustrated me, but I thought that these two were really great together. Noah at first came off as a cocky jerk that thought he knew everything, but as we got to know him over the course of the book it was clear to see that there was so much more to him. He was great with children and loved giving back. He was a really good guy and I loved how much of a hard worker he was. He had not had it easy growing up, and yet his determination to succeed allowed him to accomplish more than most people ever do. Julia was the same. She had it all and then lost it, but instead of living off her name and reputation she worked hard and started over. She wanted to be successful based on her abilities and not off of her name. I really admired both characters and thought that they had a lot in common. I also loved the chemistry between them. They might have been different in a lot of ways, but they also just clicked really well together.

Overall, this was a quick and fun read. I liked Julia and Noah a lot and thought that they really cared about one another. Julia was committed to helping Noah not just heal, but also to have a healthy life down the road. She wanted to make sure that he didn't hurt himself and always gave it to him straight. I loved how supportive and encouraging she was with him. I also really liked Noah's friend Finn. I would love to get his story and get to know him better. He seemed like a really good guy as well, and I found him interesting. I would recommend this book to contemporary romance and sports romance fans. I think that a lot of readers will really enjoy the story and the characters. While this book might have been slow to develop the relationship between the two characters, the tension and attraction between them kept me turning the pages to find out what would happen next. I will look for more from Skye Jordan in the future, and look forward to more in her Xtreme Heroes series.

ARC Review: Rebel by Skye Jordan

Another great installment in Skye Jordan's Renegade series. I'm really loving this series and I definitely can't wait for more.

Rebel is great and I really enjoyed the relationship between Wes and Rubi. I love that they were friends before they became a couple and that their relationship didn't feel rushed. It was great seeing them take the next step. The chemistry and heat between these two was smokin' hot and I just didn't want to stop reading. I loved watching their relationship evolve and grow from friends to lovers.

First let me say that Wes is so swoonworthy. Seriously, he's hot and pretty much the perfect guy. *sigh* Loved him. What I love most about him is his honesty. He's completely upfront and honest and doesn't play any games and let me tell you, that is so refreshing to see. He's such a good guy and a perfect match for Rubi.

As for Rubi, she's smart, sexy, sassy and tough as nails. I like her and the fact that she's so intelligent. I'm a big fan of smart characters. Intelligence is definitely sexy in my book. =) Though Rubi is tough, she's actually really vulnerable and I couldn't help but want to give her a hug. She has a difficult past with her father and it just breaks your heart at times to see her in pain. I felt that Rubi grows quite a bit and I enjoyed watching her cope and come to terms with things.

All in all, this was a great read and I can't wait for more. I love this world and it's characters that Skye Jordan has created. It's hot and fresh and I can't wait to see what's in-store for the rest of the Renegades.
