Why I Need a Celebrity Crush

Do you have a celebrity crush? Come on. Admit it. You do, don’t you? I do, and mine is more than a crush. He’s part of my job! I loved writing A Taste of You. The combination of gourmet food and a hot hero made writing the book more fun than work. But no matter the subject, sometimes an author needs a little inspiration.

Enter Henry Cavill. I knew from almost the first moment I conceptualized The Epicurean series that William Maddox Lambourne III would look like Henry Cavill. All that dark hair and those smoldering eyes. Henry was the perfect inspiration for my powerful, mysterious, and deeply sensual hero. William has a tragic past and doesn’t open himself up emotionally. Henry Cavill has that same sort of aloof, untouchable look.

I admit I had to stare—I mean, study pictures of Henry quite often to remain inspired, but I certainly didn’t leave my heroine out. Cat is a California girl who’s moved to Chicago in order to start over. She has her own past tragedies and isn’t ready for a relationship. But the attraction she feels to William can’t be denied. I thought actress Evangeline Lilly was a great celebrity inspiration for beautiful, fun, California girl Cat.

Lastly, I can’t leave out Cat’s best friend Beckett or her sweet dog Laird. Like Cat, Beckett is a Chicago transplant, and he looks like the California native he is. I used Chad Michael Murray as a visual inspiration for Beckett, but when I began writing Beckett, his personality emerged all on its ow.

Laird is the only part of her past Cat’s brought with her. He’s an Australian Cattle Dog, with a pinch of mutt thrown in, who’s full of energy but good natured and protective of Cat.

Who are some of the celebrities you find inspiring? One person who comments will win a copy of A Taste of You from your choice of Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or iBooks. (U.S. only)

She didn’t know how hungry she was . . .
Beautiful and talented Catherine Kelly is intent on starting over as a food photographer in Chicago. With her painful past buried over 2000 miles away, she’s focused on her career and is hungry for little else. Until she meets William Lambourne, a wealthy bachelor with arresting blue-grey eyes filled with enough tragedy to match her own. William urges Catherine to step out from behind her camera and fully taste all that life has to offer, stirring an appetite in her she never knew she possessed—and it’s one only he can satisfy.

He couldn’t wait to feed her . . .
A gourmand who takes great pleasure in food and in women, William Lambourne is rich, powerful, and gorgeous—and as talented in the kitchen as he is in the bedroom. Longing for a woman to truly savor, William finds his match in Catherine. From the moment he meets her, he is determined to discover the perfect recipe to unlock Cat’s resolve, awaken her senses, and make her his own.

Theirs is a meal worth savoring . . .
William is as mysterious as he is passionate, but as Catherine begins to fall for the stormy-eyed billionaire, she knows she must reveal her own dark secrets. But first, William must win Cat’s heart to ensure their pasts don’t undo them. Book One in The Epicurean series, A Taste of You will leave you ravenous for more of Cat and William’s story!

  2. The celebrities I find inspiring are the ones who keep a low profile and manage to live a normal life. For example, Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.

  3. I find the more inspiring celebrities to be those who stay humble and grounded, who give back in big ways and fight through their own battles with integrity. Michael J. Fox is a big one who comes to mind.

  9. Thanks for the great post and giveaway! Right now I also think Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are inspiring. They've grown up a lot and they are very focused on their charitable works. Angelina's willingness to take her very private medical issues and make them public strictly as a teaching point is awesome and I hope that people give her credit for being a role model.

  10. I also think Angelina Jolie is inspiring, but I think Ryan Renyolds is a very sexy and inspiring male. The part he played in the Amityville Horror was very convincing. He looked really scary and insane, almost made me forget how handsome he is.
