ARC Review: Infamy by L.P. Maxa

I really enjoyed L.P. Maxa's Devil's Share series so I was really excited that she decided to continue writing in this world with the RiffRaff Records spin-off series. Infamy is the third book in this spin-off series, but you do not need to have read the previous books to understand this one. I would recommend reading both the Devil's Share series and the previous RiffRaff Records books for full enjoyment though if you can as they are great stories and really help you to know these characters better.

As the daughter of a rocker from Devil's Share, Landry has been determined to forge her own path. Her childhood still affects her, but now surrounded by her family with their unwavering support she is in her fifth year of surgical residency. But when her uncle asks her to come out for the night to see the band Clashing Swell, she knows she can't turn him down. She never expects to feel the instant attraction and connection she does to their wild boy drummer, Brody Frost. But with him heading out on tour soon and her not having time for anything more, they both agree to a secret fling. What happens when it starts to become more for both of them though?

I loved these two. Landry was awesome! Smart and determined, the kind of girl that would be cool to hang out with in real life. She was genuine and the kind of heroine that makes reading fun. Brody was irresistible. He is a bit of a wild one, but he quickly becomes a new man with Landry. He is sexy and charming, but he was also so sweet and had me swooning the whole way through. I loved the connection and chemistry between these two and just couldn't get enough of them. Seeing how they were with one another is something that I think readers are going to really enjoy.

Overall, this story is one of my favorites that I have read from L.P. Maxa though I have enjoyed everything I have read from her. Brody and Landry are two of my favorite characters and I just really loved their story. This is one of these feel good books that you just don't want to put down and at the end are left with a smile having really enjoyed the book from start to finish. I can't wait to read more from L.P. Maxa in the future, and I highly recommend Infamy.

ARC Review: Legacy by L.P. Maxa

I really enjoyed the first couple of books in the Devil's Share series by L.P. Maxa, but I ended up not finishing the series as life just got in the way as did my ever growing TBR. When I saw Legacy coming out though, I knew I had to read it and after finishing it just made me want to start all over with the Devil's Share books and get caught up. I forgot just how much I enjoyed Maxa's writing and this captivating world she has created.

The RiffRaff Records series is a spin-off series about the kids from the couples of the Devil's Share series. You do not need to read these in order, but it does help to know some of the backstory if you have read them. Legacy is a standalone story though and features Beau and Halen. They were close as kids and things only intensified as they got older and developed feelings for one another. Things were good until Beau left and broke her heart.

Beau and Halen were characters that I instantly loved and knew belonged together. Things between them weren't simple though, and despite their connection Beau made the decision to leave breaking Halen's heart as well as his own. It was heartbreaking to watch the pain they each felt, and while I saw what he was doing I still didn't agree with it. These two had such strong chemistry and so much history, and it was so clear that they were made for one another.

Overall, this book was emotional and I enjoyed it, even when it broke my heart. These two had such a special bond that is rare and unique and I loved their story from start to finish. It was great to see familiar faces from Devil's Share as well as their kids. These characters are so close to one another and I just love them all. If you haven't read anything by L.P. Maxa before, I highly recommend checking out the Devil's Share and the RiffRaff Records series. I can't wait to read more from Maxa and go back and read the ones I missed and I think readers will really enjoy these books too.

ARC Review: Play Dirty by L.P. Maxa

Play Dirty is the second book in the Devil's Share series by L.P. Maxa. Before reading the first book in the series, Play Nice, I hadn't read anything by L.P. Maxa, but that book made me an instant fan. Maxa's writing is fun and sexy, and I love the emotions that she is able to bring out as well. So when I finished Play Nice, I couldn't wait to get more of these sexy rockstars. Though I am still really partial to Lexi and Dash, I enjoyed Dylan and Smith's story and couldn't get enough of them.

Smith James, bassist for Devil's snare, is used to enjoying women and drugs to escape his past. Though he doesn't need the drugs, he likes them and doesn't want to quit. But when Dylan Lawson joins the tour in order to look out for Lexi and her baby, Smith finally sees a reason to give up the women and drugs. Dylan can tell that Smith uses, and while she doesn't condemn him for that she also can't be with someone who is caught up in drugs after losing her high school boyfriend to them. But the more time they spend together, the more Dylan sees that Smith is changing. When the tour takes them to Smith's hometown though, his past comes back and threatens everything that they are trying to build.

Smith was complicated and I was really interested in his character from the beginning. He had so much in his past and beneath the surface, and he didn't let a lot of people in. Though he was a good guy, he was also struggling with some guilt and painful family memories. Dylan was so good for him, and I really liked how she was with him right away. Though she knew he was a bit of a bad boy, she didn't let that stop her from seeing where things between them could go. Dylan was smart and funny, and I liked how well she fit in with the band right away. She was extremely likable, and I loved that she was able to hold her own. These two connected emotional and I enjoyed seeing them get to know one another. Watching Smith transform from the guy that lived for drugs and casual sex to being the caring and sexy boyfriend content to stay at home and watch movies with his girl was a lot of fun. The chemistry between them was smoking hot and the sparks were flying from the start. But it was seeing them fall for one another and grow closer that I really enjoyed the most.

Overall, I love this series and Play Dirty was such a great addition. I was worried that since I loved Play Nice so much that this book wouldn't be able to live up to the expectations I had because of that, but that absolutely wasn't the case. L.P. Maxa brought the heat, emotions, and humor that she did the first time around and I felt like she really did the characters justice here. This wasn't just another rockstar story, and I was so glad that Smith and Dylan's story was so genuine and believable. This group of characters is one of my favorites, and the camaraderie between them is unlike any other I have read before. Each character is unique and different, and while they are flawed they are easy to relate to and root for. If you are looking for a great contemporary romance this series is one I would highly recommend. I think that readers will really enjoy these books as much as I have, and I am already anxious for the next book after how L.P. Maxa left us set up at the end of Play Dirty.

Review: Play Nice by L.P. Maxa

Play Nice is the first book that I have ever read from L.P. Maxa and I have to say that after finishing it I am wondering how it is possible that I never knew about Maxa before! This book was fantastic, and I couldn't put it down. It was so good and funny, yet also sweet and sexy. This book was such a great start to her new series, The Devil's Share, and I cannot wait to read more! This book was such a wonderful surprise when I had been in a bit of a book slump lately! If you love rockstar romances, this is definitely one you won't want to miss!

When Lexi shows up to a concert with her best friend Amy, her whole reason for going is to support her friend Luke. Luke is Amy's brother and is the new drummer for The Devil's Share, but he has been one of Lexi's best friends for years. But when Lexi meets sexy lead singer Dash Conner, she never expects to find herself the focus of his attention. Though Lexi has no intention of becoming another notch on his bedpost, she wouldn't mind getting to know him a little better. Dash on the other hand is used to getting whatever he wants, especially when it comes to girls. But when Lexi tells him that he needs to woo her, he instantly knows that she is different and there is something about her that has him wanting to see what it is. So when he finds out that she is a photographer, he hires her to travel with the band to take photos for their new album. But soon Lexi and Dash are giving into the attraction between them, and must face more than they ever expected when their passionate night together leads to a broken condom.

I cannot even begin to state how much I loved both Dash and Lexi. These two were so much fun to read about, and I absolutely adored them together. Dash was at first glance your typical rockstar, used to sleeping around with no want or need for commitment. But with Lexi he was instantly different, seeing how special she was. He didn't have any problems staying faithful to her or changing from who he was to the man she deserved. I loved that while he knew his feelings were growing for her, he went with it rather than completely freaking out and acting like a jerk as is typical for this type of hero. Lexi was fun and feisty, and I loved how freaking cool this chick was. She was everything you want to root for when it comes to a heroine, and it was so easy to like her. Her character was so refreshing, and it was nice to see a heroine that could handle a group of rockstars and not let insecurities and jealousy take over and create unnecessary problems. She was the perfect match for Dash, and their relationship was one that I couldn't get enough of. Add that to the amazing connection that they had and off the charts chemistry, and these two could not have been more enjoyable to read about.

Besides these fantastic characters though, I really just loved every single thing about this story! It was well written and engaging, and I didn't want to put this one down for anything! I was captivated right from the start, with L.P. Maxa's writing style instantly drawing me into the story. I loved not only the main characters, but the secondary ones as well! Each member of the band was so unique and different, and I loved the camaraderie that they shared. These guys were so funny and adorable when it came to how they welcomed Lexi right into their family, and I couldn't wait for each time they were all together to see what would happen. I also felt like this story itself was refreshing, with the drama and conflict being something new and original. There wasn't the typical cliches that you often find with this type of story, and I cannot even begin to tell you how happy that made me. Overall, this story was an absolute win all around for me and I would highly recommend it. Though there is an ending here, it definitely sets up for the next book in the series. I for one can't wait for the next book, which Maxa said at the end of Play Nice will be Smith's story. It cannot get here soon enough, and I know I will be first in line to get it when it comes out.
