Welcome to Behind the Blogger. Behind the Blogger is a feature where I interview and get to know fellow bloggers from different blogs in the blogosphere.
This weeks guest is Aislynn from Stitch - Read - Cook. If you haven't visited Aislynn's blog before you should definitely hop on over. Her blog is awesome and she has a wonderful feature called A Day in the Life of, where she features a different romance author each week. So without further ado, I give you Aislynn.
1. Why did you become a blogger?
I stumbled onto a couple of blogs back in 2009 - looking up knitting patterns. I was intrigued! What a cool idea! The more blogs I read, the more I thought - I could do this!
When I first started my blog it was mainly geared towards cooking and crafting. It's definitely evolved since then! My BFF Chrystal (www.snowdropdreams.ca) - also a blogger suggested I add books to my site. I've always been a book fanatic so it seemed liked a great idea! Now my blog is an eclectic mix of crafts, cooking and of course great books!
2. Can you tell me a little bit about your blog?
Stitch - Read - Cook is a mix of all the things I love! Knitting, sewing, crochet, cooking and books! I have a weekly feature called "A Day in the Life of...", giveaways and book reviews!
3. What is your favorite book(s)? Why?
My all time favorite book is Skye O'Malley by Bertrice Small. I first stumbled onto Ms. Small's books when I was 15... I found it at the library and couldn't put it down. She's one of my favorite authors! The Skye O'Malley book & series are my go to books, ones I can re-read a million times and not get sick of.
There has never been a woman like luscious, raven-haired, hot-tempered Skye O'Malley. She is the courageous seafaring captain of her own mighty fleet, and intelligent enough to win a battle of wits with Queen Elizabeth herself. Follow along as Skye O'Malley is swept up in a journey filled with romance and passion that takes her from glittering Ireland, to lush Algeria, to the heart of London in pursuit of a unique and eternal love.....
4. Is there a scene from a book that just stands out to you? What is it?
I don't really have one favorite! There are some many amazing ones I couldn't possibly narrow it down.
5. Who are some of your go-to authors?
My shelves are filled to the brim with some amazing authors.. my faves include: Julia Quinn, Bertrice Small, Victoria Alexander, Delilah Marvelle, Kieran Kramer, Vicky Dreiling, Ashley March, Liz Carlyle.. I'm also a huge fan of mystery/action/historical novels! I love Dan Brown, Andy McDermott and Clive Cussler!
6. What are some of your favorite genres?
I have such an eclectic taste in books. My shelves are filled with everything from historical romance, paranormal, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, and suspense! My BFF introduced me to YA as well - something I wouldn't normally pick up.
7. When reviewing, do you stick to the books that you normal like to read, or are you more open?
It really depends on my mood. I usually have 3 to 5 books on the go at one time. I will pick up almost anything the catches my attention.
8. What are some of your favorite tropes? What about those tropes pulls you in?
I don't know if I really have a favorite - the are so many great ones! I am always a fan of past lover's re-uniting, second chances, and childhood friends who become more as adults!
9. What was the last book that blew your mind?
Whirl by Emma Raveling.. it's a YA paranormal and completely amazing. I'm looking forward to the second book sometime this year!

The Aquidae are immortal dark demons who will stop at nothing to destroy the fragile balance of the Elemental world. Fierce and independent, Kendra has always played by her own rules. All while the Aquidae continue to hunt her down, in the hopes of eliminating her forever…
10. Do you have any advice for other aspiring bloggers?
Don't be afraid to write what you think - even if you don't like something just be honest but polite! Try new things, new genres, new authors! I've found some amazing reads by going outside my comfort zone.
11. When you aren't blogging, what do you like to do in your spare time?
When I'm not working (I'm a house designer) I'm spending time with my hubby, our dogs and relaxing. I love to cook - so I'm always experimenting with something tasty for dinner. Visiting with my parents, siblings and friends!
