Feature and Giveaway: The Care and Feeding of an Alpha Male by Jessica Clare

Beth Ann needed a hero…

Beth Ann Williamson has finally had it with her on-and-off fiancĂ© of nine years. The problem? No one in town seems to believe her when she says it’s really over. Now Beth Ann is determined to show the small town of Bluebonnet, Texas, that she can take care of herself. That means opening her own salon and not taking the help that her ex-fiancĂ© seems determined to offer.

Of course, even the best laid plans go awry when she’s stranded in the woods in the middle of a downpour. Some independent woman she is. She can’t even find her way out of the woods without the help of a handsome, but scowling, Marine.

She got more than she bargained for…

A die-hard survivalist, Colt Waggoner’s none too pleased when he’s sent to find the town’s pampered princess. He’s even more annoyed when Beth Ann isn't grateful for the rescue. Fine, then. He’ll just have to teach the sexy blonde a lesson--a weekend of roughing it out in the wild. Just the two of them, alone, in muddy, wet clothing that needs to come off…

But Beth Ann isn't the spoiled princess he thought. And when she propositions him for a one night stand, he knows he should turn it down. Because this alpha male might need more than just one night in her bed to satisfy him…

ARC Review: The Care and Feeding of an Alpha Male by Jessica Clare

This was the second book that I've read from Jessica Clare and I loved it. It was just so good and I couldn't put it down. I loved the relationship between Cold and Beth Ann. Not only did these love each other but they brought out the best in one another. I love that we were able to watch their relationship progress from two people that couldn't stand each other to a couple that doesn't feel complete without the other. Both Colt and Beth Ann grew leaps and bounds by the last page and I just loved how things progressed.

Beth Ann has finally had it with her cheating fiance' and has finally cut him loose after nine years of dating. While everyone in town is convinced that Beth Ann is just going through a phase and will eventually take him back, she knows the real truth. That her ex-fiance' was a lying, cheating jerk and she's glad to be rid of him. Now she is bound and determined to become independent and be able to take care of herself without anyone else's help. Everything is great and dandy until she gets lost in the woods during a downpour while out looking for her sister.

The day after Colt graduated high school he fled Bluebonnet and joined the Marines. He was determined to get as far away from Bluebonnet as he could. He never expected to get hurt in the line of duty and now he's back in Bluebonnet working alongside his buddies Dane and Grant running a survival school. Not only does he work at the survival school, he also works as a volunteer for the local fire department. When a bad storm hits, he's responsible for helping to evacuate the area, this includes finding Beth Ann.

Colt and Beth Ann have a tempestuous relationship to say the least. Both have never gotten along and neither are happy to see the other. When Beth Ann is less than grateful for Colt's assistance he decides to teach her a lesson. He tells Beth Ann that they are rained out and stranded in the woods and will have to wait out the rain before they can return home. But instead of complaining and being a spoiled brat, Colt is surprised that he is actually getting along with Beth Ann. Not only are they both getting along, both are quickly beginning to realize just how attracted they are to one another. When Beth Ann propositions Colt asking him to be her first one night stand he knows the right thing would be to say no, but there is just no way he can turn her away. She's just too sexy. The next day both realize that they aren't satisfied with just one night. But can two people that have always hated each other turn that around into a real relationship? Or is it just sex?

I love the relationship between these two and oh my goodness were these two hot together! I loved watching them both realize just how much they cared for the other. I love how protective Colt is when it comes to Beth Ann but not only is he protective, he's so caring. He became the rock she needed and I love that we were able to see his walls come down and let her in.

This book is definitely worth picking up.

Interview with Author Stephanie Julian and Giveaway

Today I am super excited to welcome to RFTC author Stephanie Julian. Stephanie will be a featured author at the Olde City, New Blood mini-con that is taking place in St. Augustine this coming February and I am super excited to meet her. Stephanie is the author of the the Forgotten Goddess series and she is here today to answer some questions. Please give Stephanie a warm welcome.

Stephanie Julian is the author of the Forgotten Goddesses, Magical Seduction, Lucani Lovers, The Fringe and Darkly Enchanted series. A former reporter for a daily newspaper, she enjoys making up stories much more than writing about real life. She’s happily married to a Springsteen fanatic and is the mother of two sons who love her even when they don’t have any clean clothes and dinner is a bowl of cereal.

Interview with Author Stephanie Draven and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome author Stephanie Draven to RFTC. Stephanie is celebrating the release of her newest book In Bed with the Opposition and has stopped by to answer a few questions. So please give Stephanie a warm welcome.

Stephanie Draven is currently a denizen of Baltimore, that city of ravens and purple night skies. She lives there with her favorite nocturnal creatures–three scheming cats and a deliciously wicked husband. And when she is not busy with dark domestic rituals, she writes her books.

Stephanie has always been a storyteller. In elementary school, she channeled Scheherazade, weaving a series of stories to charm children into sitting with her each day at the lunch table. When she was a little older, Stephanie scared all the girls at her sleepovers with ghost stories.

She should have known she was born to hold an audience in her thrall, but Stephanie resisted her writerly urges and graduated from college with a B.A. in Government. Then she went to Law School, where she learned how to convincingly tell the tallest tales of all!

A longtime lover of ancient lore, Stephanie enjoys re-imagining myths for the modern age. She doesn’t believe that true love is ever simple or without struggle so her work tends to explore the sacred within the profane, the light under the loss and the virtue hidden in vice. She counts it amongst her greatest pleasures when, from her books, her readers learn something new about the world or about themselves.

The Heir and the Spare is one of my all time favorite books and I am just so happy she is here today. Maya Rodale began reading romance novels in college at her mother’s insistence. She is now the author of numerous “dazzlingly sexy and witty” historical romance novels. A champion of the romance genre and it’s readers, she is also the author of the non-fiction book Dangerous Books For Girls: The Bad Reputation Of Romance Novels, Explained and a co-founder of Lady Jane’s Salon, a national reading series devoted to romantic fiction. Maya lives in New York City with her darling dog and a rogue of her own.

Guest Post with Author Cassandra Carr

Today I would like to welcome back to RFTC author Cassandra Carr. Cassandra is on tour for her book Double Vision and has stopped by to chat. Please give Cassandra a warm welcome.

So who am I? I've been writing my whole life, but only decided to pursue writing as a career in the past couple of years. I'm lucky to have an incredibly supportive husband named Inspiration who brings home the bacon so I can stay home and fry it (and eat it all before he's able to fight through the rush hour traffic - I'm mean that way, but like I always say, don't get between a woman and her bacon).

I live in Western New York with Inspiration and our young daughter, Too Cute for Words. I'm a major hockey fan, which explains why many of my heroes are hockey players. If you haven't looked at the guys playing the sport today, search for some images. You won't be disappointed.

I'm a member of the leading professional association for romance novelists, Romance Writers of America, and also serve as President of my local chapter, newsletter editor for Passionate Ink, and am a member of ESPAN. I've met so many interesting people through these organizations and highly recommend them to any aspiring writer!

As you can see, my life is pretty busy, but I try to take as much time as I can to write. And re-write. And re-write. It's a never-ending, vicious circle, and I love it!

Interview with Author Janet Mullany and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author Janet Mullany. Janet is celebrating the recent release of her book Hidden Paradise and has stopped by to answer a few questions. So please give Janet a nice and warm welcome.

Janet Mullany, granddaughter of an Edwardian housemaid, was born in England but now lives near Washington, DC. Her debut book was Dedication, the only Signet Regency to have two bondage scenes (and which was reissued with even more sex in April 2012 from Loose-Id). Her next book, The Rules of Gentility (HarperCollins 2007) was acquired by Little Black Dress (UK) for whom she wrote three more Regency chicklits, A Most Lamentable Comedy, Improper Relations, and Mr. Bishop and the Actress. Her career as a writer who does terrible things to Jane Austen began in 2010 with the publication of Jane and the Damned (HarperCollins), and Jane Austen: Blood Persuasion (2011) about Jane as a vampire, and a modern retelling of Emma, Little to Hex Her, in the anthology Bespelling Jane Austen headlined by Mary Balogh. She also writes contemporary erotic fiction for Harlequin, Tell Me More (2011) and Hidden Paradise (September, 2012).

Today I am super excited to welcome to RFTC author Elisabeth Staab. Elisabeth will be a featured author at the Olde City, New Blood mini-con that is taking place in St. Augustine this coming February and I am super excited to meet her. Elisabeth is the author of the Chronicles of Yavn series and she is here today to answer some questions. Please give Elisabeth a warm welcome.

Elisabeth Staab lives in Northern Virginia with her hero and soul mate, Tom. She has been a telemarketer, a web page editor, a software developer, a reader for the blind, a technical trainer, a coffee shop barista, a teacher, a tutor, a homemaker, a government project manager, a graphic designer, and a professional ebayer. Finally, she's landed on being a writer - which is what her high school guidance counselor originally suggested anyway.

Elisabeth believes that all kinds of safe, sane, and consensual love should be celebrated--but she loves the fantasy-filled realm of paranormal romance the best.

Today I am happy to welcome one of my most favorite people to the blog, author Juliana Stone. Juliana has recently released her first contemporary novel Offside, the first book in The Barker Triplets and to celebrate the release Juliana is here to chat. Before I give the floor over to Juliana, let's get to know her a bit.

Juliana Stone's love of the written word and 80's rock, have inspired her in more ways than one. She writes dark paranormal romance as well as Contemporary Romance and spends her days navigating a busy life that includes, a husband, kids, a dog and a cat.

Guest Post with Nona Raines and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to RFTC author, Nona Raines. Nona is on tour promoting her novella One Good Man and has stopped by to chat. Please give Nona a warm welcome.

Nona Raines became hooked on romances when she first picked up "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen Woodiwiss (and she's not telling how long ago that was). Romances may have changed since then, but her love for a good love story has not. She's been writing off and on for years, but it was only when she joined the Central New York Romance Writers Association that she finally gained the support and confidence she needed to complete a manuscript.

Nona lives in upstate New York with her many pets and is currently working on her next novel. A former librarian, she enjoys reading books of all genres and discussing them with others. She is thrilled to finally be able to call herself an author and looks forward to hearing from readers.

Interview with Author Amy Andrews and Giveaway

Today I am happy to welcome author Amy Andrews to RFTC. Amy is celebrating the release of her book Taming the Tycoon and has stopped by to chat. Please give Amy a warm welcome.

Amy is an award-winning author who has written thirty romances for Harlequin Mills and Boon in both the Medical and RIVA/Presents lines. She wrote her first book at the age of twenty-two while unemployed and freezing her butt off in the UK, largely because it involved being able to stay in bed with her electric blanket. One twelve year apprenticeship later she finally got "the call".

To date she's sold over a million books and been translated into thirteen different languages. In 2010 she took out the sexy category in the prestigious Australian Romantic Book of the Year Award affectionately known as The Ruby.

She's recently launched a couple of separate writing ventures with the release of Sister Pact a contemporary women's fiction novel that she wrote with her sister Ros Baxter and was published by Harper Collins Australia as well as the very exciting release of her first category romance, Taming the Tycoon, with Entangled Publishing.

In what she euphemistically likes to call her spare time, Amy works part time as a paediatric intensive care nurse and was on the national executive for Romance Writers Of Australia for six years during which time she organised two national conferences and undertook a two year term as president.

She's been married for twenty-two years and has two teenagers who only admit to her being a writer when they have to explain to their friends why there's no food in the house when their mother is approaching a deadline. She lives on acreage on the outskirts of Brisbane with a gorgeous mountain view but secretly wishes it was the hillsides of Tuscany."

A former junior high science teacher, Elisabeth Naughton traded in her red pen and test tube set for a laptop and research books. She now writes sexy romantic adventure and paranormal novels full time from her home in western Oregon where she lives with her husband and three children. Her work has been nominated for numerous awards including the prestigious RITA® awards by Romance Writers of America, the Australian Romance Reader Awards, The Golden Leaf and the Golden Heart. ARC Review: Sultry With a Twist by Macy Beckett

I really enjoyed this book. In fact I found it hard to put down once I started it. I'm a sucker for second chance at love and friend's to lovers stories and this book had both and it did not disappoint. I really loved this book and I can't wait to read more from this author.

The chemistry between Luke and June is great. I loved their relationship and the fact that yes, it's been nine years since either has seen or spoken to one another and even though their last moments together were spent arguing, they still had a great friendship. They seemed to pick up right were they left off, sans the argument.

I liked the progression of their relationship and I especially liked that we were shown glimpses of their past. It gave me a better appreciation of their relationship. It helped me understand exactly how much these two both care for one another.

Neither Luke or June has had it easy in life and I loved the they were both able to gain solace and companionship with one another. I do wish that Luke wouldn't have fought his feelings for so long, but I get it. He thinks that he isn't worth love since everyone in his life has used and discarded him and it seriously breaks your heart. Luke is such a good man but he thinks he's worthless. I loved that June loves him unconditionally and she doesn't give up on him. The moment Luke finally does give in and let's June in is explosive. They are both so hot together, but what I loved the most is that it wasn't just sex between them. You could feel the love and emotion between them and at times I felt like an intruder.

I am eager to see what is next for this author. Hopefully more books set in this world. I loved her voice and her characters. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Sultry Springs.
