Blind Date with a Book Event with Katee Robert

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Katee Robert learned to tell her stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her 2015 title, The Marriage Contract, was a RITA finalist, and RT Book Reviews named it 'a compulsively readable book with just the right amount of suspense and tension."  When not writing sexy contemporary and romantic suspense, she spends her time playing imaginary games with her children, driving her husband batty with what-if questions, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

ARC Review: Rebel Heir by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but I love Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. Both of them are amazingly talented writers on their own, but together they are magic! It always feels like their stories are so smooth and flow effortlessly, as though they were always meant to write together, and that was definitely the case with Rebel Heir. I loved seeing them do something different together than what they had done with their previous releases, and I think that this series is one that readers will love just like I already do. While this is the first book in the duet and it does have a cliffhanger, I really believe it is worth reading right away.

Gia and Rush’s story was addictive and once I started, I couldn’t put it down. Gia is staying in the Hamptons while trying to write her book, but when she needs inspiration and money she ends up taking over a friend’s shift at the popular bar, The Heights. The only problem is, she quickly finds herself drawn to the owner and unable to fight the attraction between them. While Rush doesn’t do relationships or commitment, they soon realize that things aren’t always able to be controlled. Though they have no business getting involved, neither one expected for things to go the way they do.

I loved Rush and Gia. I was instantly invested in them and found myself captivated with their story. The banter and chemistry was fantastic, something I always know will be off the charts with Vi and Penelope’s books. I really felt the connection between these two growing, and it was so much fun to read about. The first half of this book was just amazing, and the whole time I kept telling myself to brace for what I knew had to be coming since this one ends with a cliffhanger. Honestly though, I wouldn’t change anything. I am already on pins and needles waiting for Rebel Heart.

If you haven’t read anything by these two before, you definitely need to check them out. I have read and loved everything I could get my hands on of theirs, and they never disappoint. That being said though, they just seem to get better with each new book and Rebel Heir could definitely be at the top of my favorites list from them. This book is a must read, and Rebel Heart can’t get here soon enough!

ARC Review: The Birthday List by Devney Perry

I am a huge fan of Devney Perry’s and I honestly cannot get enough of her stories. I have loved each one of them, and The Birthday List was no exception. This book was sweet and heartfelt, and I loved each of the characters. Devney Perry really hit it out of the park with this story and I know readers are going to love this one as much as I did.

Poppy thought that she had it all, a loving husband a future together filled with making their dreams come true. But with one tragic event, everything changed for her. Now years later, she is trying to move forward with her life and part of that means coming to terms with her husband’s tragic death. Jamie left behind a list of things he wanted to do before each birthday, his version of a bucket list, and Poppy is determined to complete each item on the list. She never could have guessed that the man who delivered the terrible news of Jamie’s death would also be the one to help her complete his list and help heal her heart.

I loved Poppy and Cole so much! Cole was so sweet and patient with Poppy, he was exactly what she needed. I loved that he was so willing to help her complete Jamie’s list, because he knew how important it was to her. He was always there for her, however she needed him. But Poppy also wasn’t weak, and while she leaned on Cole, she was determined to be strong and move forward with her life. Poppy was fun and full of life despite everything that had happened to her, and I loved her for Cole just as much as I loved him for her. These two had a great connection that just grew stronger the more they spent time together, and I felt that it was so genuine and believable. I was glad that things happened naturally and weren’t rushed at all. The chemistry between them was amazing, but it was so much more than that for these two.

Overall, I loved this book and Devney Perry continues to impress me with her writing skills. She never disappoints, and I love that her stories are so full of love and life. Things aren’t always smooth sailing and there were times that my heart broke for the characters in this story, yet the journey was so worth it. If you haven’t read and of Devney’s stories yet, this is a great place to start and I recommend them all! But if you are already a fan, this one is everything you would expect from her and more. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us with her next book!
