ARC Review: Ruthless by Gina L. Maxwell

Ruthless is the second book in the Playboys in Love series by Gina L. Maxwell. Each book is a standalone story and they do not need to be read in order for you to enjoy or understand them. This book was hot and I really enjoyed it! The Playboys in Love series focuses on a group of guy friends that are male strippers after hours and outside of their day jobs. I love this concept, and Gina L. Maxwell definitely doesn't disappoint with these guys!

Roman Reeves is a hot shot lawyer by day and Ruthless the sexy exotic dancer by night. He doesn't have many rules, but he definitely doesn't date friends of friends. Everything changes when he meets Addison Paige though. Since she is a friend of a friend, she is completely off limits, except that he soon finds himself unable to stop the attraction between them. But things get more complicated when she is hired for his firm, and he suddenly finds himself her boss. Roman isn't known as Ruthless for no reason though, and he is determined to have her even if it means breaking all his rules.

These two were super hot together, and I couldn't get enough of them. I will say that this book is on the erotic side, and readers should know that there are some situations involving menage and sharing partners as well as voyeurism. If any of that bothers you, this book might not be right for you. I honestly loved the chemistry between these two though, and definitely recommend giving it a shot if you like a romance with a healthy dose of steam! Roman has specific desires and kinks, and I loved that Addison was accepting of those. The banter was good, and I enjoyed this group of characters a lot.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot and would definitely recommend. There were a few things that kept this one from being a five star for me, one being the lack of communication and assumptions/judgments that were made. I understand the need for some conflict, but I find myself getting frustrated when characters can't talk to one another and let simple mistaken beliefs and miscommunication damage what they are building. Still a good story though, and the heat in this one was definitely worth the read. I am looking forward to reading more in this series from Gina L. Maxwell.

ARC Review: Fighting For Irish by Gina L. Maxwell

I love a good sports romance, so when I saw Fighting For Irish by Gina L. Maxwell I knew this was one that I wanted to read. Fighting For Irish is the first book that I have ever read by Maxwell, but I have heard really great things about her work. I was not disappointed at all. This book was so good and I absolutely loved every word of it. Even though this book is the third in her Fighting For Love series, these can be read as stand alones. After reading this one though, I can't wait to go back and read first two books.

Kat MacGregor has been living under the name Sydney while waitressing at a bar barely scraping by. She is on the run from some men who want her to pay up for a debt that her ex-boyfriend ran out on. When they finally catch up to her, they give her forty-eight hours to come up with the twenty grand or else. Not knowing what to do she plans to run. Aiden "Irish" O'brien has been keeping an eye on Kat even though she has no clue. When his friend's fiance asked him to find her sister and look out for her he never expected to get to know her. But now that he has been working with her and keeping an eye on her, he finds himself unable to walk away. When he finds out she is in trouble, he vows to protect her and get her out of the debt. But in order to come up with the money to buy her freedom, he must reenter the world of MMA fighting that he left behind years ago. Aiden has been running from his own past, and knowing that he needs to fight is bound to bring it all back. As Aiden and Kat begin to spend more time together, their feelings quickly grow. But can they get her out of danger before time runs out and any chance at a future together is lost?

I loved Aiden! He was sexy and sweet, protective and caring. I loved how he was so patient and gentle with Kat despite him used to being a certain way with women. He really showed that he cared for her beyond her just being a favor to a friend or a random girl. I loved watching him help her heal. I loved how real Aiden was. He was kind of a slob and was rough around the edges, but I found him and his Boston accent completely charming. He was really sort of perfect in all him imperfections. I felt so bad for him with all the guilt that he carried and how he kept himself away from those he loved because of it. Kat was great. She was vulnerable yet strong, and I loved that even though she was broken from her past she wasn't apologetic about her circumstances. She accepted her situation and was determined to protect her sister from ever knowing what had happened to her as well as the situation she was in. I liked that she had learned to stand on her own two feet, but it was even better when she started learning to accept help from Irish. Not only was he great with her, but she helped him to realize that he deserved better than what he had been living like as well. These two were so perfect for each other, and I loved that the drama and angst was saved for things beyond their relationship. They had their issues along the way, but most of the problems they experienced were due to things outside of their connection and that was nice for a change. Aiden and Kat had off the charts chemistry and they were amazingly hot together! I loved how things started off slow for them and really grew. I think it made their relationship and connection that much more believable.

Overall, I thought that this book was fantastic. It was a great romance that had so much to offer. I thought that the writing was great and the story flowed really well. I was interested from the start, and the characters were so likable that I was immediately invested in their HEA. I didn't want to put this one down, and I only did when absolutely forced to. I also really loved the secondary characters that we encountered also, especially Xander. I really hope that we get his story! This is definitely a must read for anyone who likes a rough and tough hero that is surprisingly gentle. I would highly recommend this book to any fan of romance though because it is definitely one of the best books I have read in quite awhile. I will definitely be looking for more from Gina L. Maxwell in the future and can't wait to go back and read the first two installments in this series.

Guest Post with Author Gina L. Maxwell and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author Gina L. Maxwell. Gina is celebrate the recent release of her book Seducing Cinderella (which was amazing!) and has stopped by to chat. Before I give the floor over to Gina, let's get to know a bit about her.

Growing up in small town Fort Atkinson, WI, Gina L. Maxwell, formerly Bisbee, could often be found onstage in the latest theatrical production, performing with her high school show choir, or holding office in her local FFA chapter. She dreamed of following in her father’s footsteps in the entertainment business, of enabling her audience to forget about life for a few hours as they enjoyed the stories she told through her love of singing, dancing, and acting. It wasn’t until her sophomore year in college when she realized she had no acting talent to speak of and her dream needed some adjusting. Another ten years would pass before she discovered a different means to accomplishing the same dream.

Within those ten years Gina married her high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children, and moved more times than she cared to count. In 2009 she started writing as a hobby while her kids were in school, and it quickly became an obsession she couldn’t stop, and then a dream to publish stories of love and passion for romance addicts just like her.

Three years later, her dream came true when she signed with Entangled Publishing for a total of seven books in two of their imprints.

Her Fighting for Love series with MMA heroes debuted July 20th, 2012 for the digital Brazen imprint with the first book, Seducing Cinderella, and reached #9 on Barnes & Noble’s best seller list in just seven days.

The first book in her paranormal romance trilogy, Desires of the Soul, is set to release both digitally and in mass trade paperback in Summer 2013 for the Entangled Select imprint.

When she’s not writing or wrangling plot bunnies, Gina keeps busy with her wonderful family and their ever-growing extra-curricular schedules. Thanks to their immense patience and support, she’s able to do The Thing She Was Meant To Do and live her dream of bringing a little romantic fantasy to the world, even if only in the pages of a good book.

ARC Review: Seducing Cinderella by Gina L. Maxwell

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the chemistry and relationship between Reid and Lucie. These two were hot together and I loved watching them tear down their walls and let the other in.

Reid Andrews is a MMA fighter and was injured pretty badly in his last fight. In an attempt to regain his title, he needs to get back into fighting shape and in two months. When his usual physical therapist has to leave town for a family emergency he makes arrangements to send Reid out of town to train with a physical therapist friend of his. Reid never expected to find that his best friend's kid sister Lucie is the trainer that he is sent to work with. It's been years since Reid has seen Lucie and she has definitely grown up and is no longer the kid he remembers.

Lucie Miller's life is a hot mess. She's disorganized, bookish and wants to desperately be noticed by Stephen the hot orthopedic surgeon that she works with. Unfortunately he doesn't notice she's alive. When she finally thinks that he's noticed her and is going to actually ask her out, he turns he world upside down by asking her for her friend Vanessa's number. Lucie is tearful and heartbroken when her new patient walks in and catches her in tears. Lucie is shocked to learn that her new patient his Reid. Reid is her brother's oldest friend and she hasn't seen him since she was an awkward teen and half in love with him. Now he's sitting here in her office not only asking for her help with his physical therapy but offering up a bit of help for herself. If she devotes herself to his training only he'll help her land Stephen.

But quickly their friendly relationship starts to become so much more. Lucie's old feeling for Reid are slowly resurfacing, and she is finding that he ignites something in her that she hasn't felt in a very long time. And it doesn't hurt that he's one of the sexiest men she's ever scene.

Reid finds Lucie insanely attractive and doesn't understand why Lucie just can't seem to see her worth or beauty. He knows that their relationship is supposed to be physical with no emotions involved since she wants to bag Stephen, but Reid is finding it harder and harder to not be jealous.

I loved the relationship between Reid and Lucie. Loved, loved, loved! Reid is super sexy and I loved watching him seduce Lucie. Seriously, some of their scenes together are very steamy and Reid was great. Lucie was great too, but at times she would do somethings that would grate on my nerves. Otherwise, these two were great. I felt that their relationship felt real and not rushed. I like that they both respect one another and trust each other.

I really enjoyed this book. Gina Maxwell is a new author for me and I will definitely be picking up her books in the future.
