Today I would like to welcome to the blog author Sarah Ballance. Sarah is currently on tour for her book Tide of Lies and has stopped by the blog to chat. Before I give the floor to Sarah lets get to know her a bit.
Sarah lives a charmed life as the mother of six incredible homeschooled children, all of whom are completely adorable when they're asleep. Her husband of many years (long, long years, he calls them) is the kind of guy who could teach those heroes from the books a thing or two about romance, not that he'd readily admit it. Completely supportive of her love for writing fiction, he's generously offered to help with any necessary research for "the good parts." She's never had to ask twice.
Although the idea of writing romance and romantic suspense initially intimidated Sarah, it has morphed into a favorite pastime since her characters, unlike her kids, actually listen to her. Er, sometimes.
Places to find Sarah:
My husband and I have been married almost fifteen years (fourteen of which I've spent changing diapers … nonstop), and during that time we've amassed six children (see previous comment about diapers). I'm a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom which translates quite readily into burnout. With six kids and fourteen years of diapers between us, you'd think romance would be dead . . . wouldn't you?
Maybe not. We do, after all, have my characters.
Okay, so the characters don't get full credit. My husband and I were married a good ten years before my first thoughts of fiction came along, so we've definitely done our share of the work. Maybe the measurements are skewed since we've always been in such a fantastic place, relationship-wise, but when I write about those first feelings of attraction between characters, I can't help but go back the 16+ years to when my eyes met my husband's for the first time. In fact, I relive all of those firsts through each of my books. No matter what my characters' stories (as a suspense author, I do tend to torture them a little) they all experience those first moments of new love. And when you've been married for what my husband refers to as many "long, long years" there's something really special about falling in love all over again on a regular basis.
Even with six kids and nearly 14 years of diapers between you.
Diapers aside, my husband and I have it much easier than Holden and Julia, the main characters from my new romantic suspense, TIDE OF LIES. In their story, ten years ago a reckless week changed several lives, the consequences far more reaching than any of them imagined. With past betrayals, deep secrets, and murderous intentions, the only thing I want to have in common with this story is the happily ever after! *grins* If you'd like to read the entire first chapter for free, you can do so at Noble Romance. Thanks so much for joining me today!
A devastating secret. A shocking betrayal. A deadly obsession.
Haunted by three unsolved murders, Detective Holden Whitlow is stunned when his cold case takes a heated turn. Julia Cohen, his ex-lover, is back in town, and in the face of a brutal attack she's ready to run. No matter how tightly she holds her secrets, for Holden, turning away from the woman he's spent a decade trying to forget isn't any more an option than walking away from his job . . .even when it threatens to cost Julia her life.
Julia is still reeling from a past she can't bear to face. When she becomes the target of a killer, fate throws her back into Holden's arms, but she's yet to recover from a truth that has stripped her of everything—and everyone—she loves. Will she tell him the secret that will destroy him, or will her lie destroy them both?
