Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author Soraya Lane. Soraya is celebrating the release of her book The Navy SEAL's Bride and has stopped by to chat. But before we get to that, lets get to know a bit about Soraya.
As a child, Soraya dreamed of becoming an author, recreating the types of stories she devoured day and night. Fast forward more than a few years, and Soraya is now living her dream. Working as a freelance writer and now a professional author too, she writes every day and loves her job. Soraya describes being a Harlequin Mills & Boon author as “the best career in the world”, and she hopes to be writing heart-warming, emotional romances for many years to come.
Soraya loves spending her days thinking up characters for romance stories, and her home is a constant source of inspiration. She lives with her own real life hero and son on a small farm in New Zealand, surrounded by animals and with an office overlooking a field where their horses graze.

What could you not live without?
It’s pretty obvious from the title of my book that my hero is a Navy SEAL, and I have to say that even the words “Navy SEAL” excite me. I think we all probably imagine a gorgeous, muscular man who could save us no matter what the situation, and that’s exactly the kind of man I wanted to write about in this book.
Tom Cartwright is strong, tough and capable, but the one thing he was missing from his life was a woman. Of course, that made him a great challenge for me, and I loved every single word I wrote in his story.
In my previous book, Back in the Soldier’s Arms, Tom was the hero’s brother. I didn’t really think too much about him, until he started “talking” to me. In that book, he showed himself as a guy who didn’t like the fact that his brother had cheated on his wife, and wasn’t afraid to tell him what an idiot he’d been. I have to say, that really appealed to me!
But Tom goes from a pretty easy-going guy in the first book to a troubled ex-SEAL in his own story. He’s been part of an operation gone wrong, his life has been completely turned upside down, and he’s struggling with no longer being a SEAL. For this guy, the Navy has meant everything to him – he’s lived and breathed it for all of his adult life. Suddenly he doesn’t believe he’s capable of being the man he used to be, and it takes meeting a certain young woman to show him just how capable he truly is.
The idea of the thing you love in life (as in work/hobby etc, not a loved one) being taken away is something that really got me thinking. What if I couldn’t write anymore? What if something happened to me that meant I could no longer put pen to paper, or in my case fingers to the keyboard? I’d also be devastated if I couldn’t ride my horse anymore, because it’s a hobby that’s meant so much to me for so much of my life.
What in your life, be it your job, hobby or sport, would you struggle to live without, and why? I’d love to hear your thoughts! And one lucky person will win a copy of The Navy SEAL’s Bride.
