Robin Bielman lives in Southern California, a bike ride away from the ocean if she’s feeling really adventurous. She loves books and baking and running on the treadmill while watching her favorite TV shows. When she’s not reading or writing her next story, she’s spending time with her high school sweetheart husband and two sons, most likely watching, playing, or discussing baseball. She drives too fast, drinks too much caffeine, and if every day were Cupcake Day, she’d be a happy camper! She loves to connect with readers.

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for having me as a guest today, Dani! I’m so glad to be here!
Two Guys and a Girl
Once upon a time there were two brothers who lived next door to a girl. In my newest release, Yours At Midnight, it’s this scenario that sets in motion my hero and heroine’s story. It’s a love triangle—of sorts. As kids and teenagers, my heroine, Lyric, only had eyes for Oliver. But Oliver only liked Lyric as a friend. His twin brother, Quinn, however, had deep feelings for Lyric. Feelings that hurt like hell when all he and Lyric did was butt heads.
Fast-forward to the opening of my book and it’s been four years since Lyric and Quinn have seen each other. Four years since Oliver died in a car accident and Lyric and Quinn spent a night together as a way to soothe their grief. And even though Oliver is gone, he is still very much a presence in their lives. It was a challenge for me to write a story where one member of my love triangle was only around in spirit. Oliver was important in so many ways, and keeping him “alive” was a way to keep me hero and heroine apart, but eventually bring them together.
When Quinn and Lyric finally talk about Oliver, when each subsequently digs into the deepest part of their memories and feelings about their friendships, well, I hope the reader is right there along with them to feel the deep, intense revelations that propel Quinn and Lyric—especially Lyric—to come to some very important and life changing conclusions.
There’s a quote from Ann Landers that I just love and I think sums up Quinn and Lyric’s relationship pretty nicely:
“Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.”
There was never a doubt in my mind about Lyric and Quinn being made for each other. Adding in Oliver was fun, heart wrenching, and pushed me to write from a deeper place inside me. I’ve lost loved ones, too, and I hope I was able to convey a triangle where true love did bring my characters what their hearts desired.
Two of my most recent favorite love triangles are Katniss/Gale/Peeta from The Hunger Games and Elena/Damon/Stephan from The Vampire Diaries. What about you? I’d love to hear who’s in your favorite triangle.
Lyric Whetsone only had eyes for Quinn Sobel's brother Oliver, until a car crash took Oliver's life on New Year's Eve. Then, a moment of shared grief between Quinn and Lyric became something more impassioned, something that frightened Quinn so much he ran from Lyric's bed and her life, disappearing for four long years.
Now Quinn's back for another New Year's Eve, struggling for closure, desperate to leave his grief in the past and make amends with the girl of his dreams.
But Lyric has a secret--one that could drive Quinn from her life forever. Will Quinn run away from the love and acceptance he's always wanted...or will he claim his New Year's kiss and make her his at midnight?

ReplyDeleteHi pc! Oh, I love those triangles, too. Two really great movies.
DeleteGreat tour!
ReplyDeleteMy fav triangle, gosh I don't know. Maybe Patricia Briggs's Mercy-Adam-Sam. Although I kind of wish an original LT and its resolution appears. like, the boys fall in love instead and end up together, or they all form a relationship, like an alternative lifestyle :)
Hi Mimi! I haven't read this, but I like how you've got an alternate ending. :) Thanks for commenting!
DeleteHmmm... the early Richard, Jean Claude and Anita triangle was amazing... Not near the end of course....
ReplyDeleteHi May! I haven't read Anita's series, but now I'm thinking I really need to check it out.
DeleteI don't have a favorite, sorry.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay Ingeborg! Maybe you'll discover one this year. :) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteHi Dani! Thanks again for hosting me! I love hanging out here. :D
ReplyDeleteRevenge (TV series) - Emily/Aidan/Daniel.
ReplyDeleteHi Olga! Oh, Revenge is one of my favorite TV shows! I'm crushing on Aidan. :)
DeleteHi! :) At first, I couldn't think of anything, then saw the first comment, and yep Bridget Jones's Diary is up there... looking at the other DVDs around here, the only other one is really Clark/Lana/Lex from Smallville... (and we wouldn't consider Luke/Leia/Han one, right? LOL)...
ReplyDeleteNow, tv, when I used to watch Guiding Light - arguably, there were plenty of triangles going on there. But, it was a soap, after all.
Bookwise, which is much harder to look at all the books surrounding me for ideas, but there, the only one that even remotely is triangle like is Darcy/Lizzie/Wickham. Guess I tend not to end up reading a whole lot about them. LOL
Lois
Hi Lois! I love that you brought up soap operas! I haven't watched them in a long time, but I remember there always being lots of triangles going on! LOL
DeleteThe tv show revenge love triangle is pretty good right now
ReplyDeleteHi Latanya! Yep, it is. :)
DeleteI really hate triangles actually
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick one, I would probably pick all the characters in the Stalk Me series by Jillian Dodd
Hi Eva. I haven't read that series. And I'm intrigued why you don't like them. Is it because someone gets their heart broken? I'm with you on that. It's hard for me to read about a character I like suffering, and I always hope that they get their own story and happily ever after.
DeleteI LOVE Mercy Thompson series AND Anita Blake And Merry
ReplyDeletegoing with oldie but goodie
Scarlet, Rhett & Ashley
Hi PM! I'm not sure, but I'm thinking Gone With the Wind might be one of the very first love triangles. I'll have to check out the Mercy Thompson series - thanks for the introduction!
DeleteI don't know of any love triangles like this but I've read many ménage love stories.
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds really good.
Hi Lori! Thank you. You've opened up a whole other kind of triangle. :) I've read them, too, and these are the instances where I want a HEA for everyone involved!
DeleteOverall I don't really love triangles, but I do like them when there is a HEA for all three. I think it's more about my non-committal ways than anything else LOL Reading the others' ideas I completely agree: Bridget Jones' Diary and Pride and Prejudice from well known books and then there are several from TV shows - especially from when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I just said that, Sharon. :) I'm all about the HEA and if one character is left out then I definitely want him or her to get their own story next!
DeleteThe latest triangle I can recall reading about is Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens and Down to You by M. Leighton. Both are good.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite triangle though, because someone, if not everyone, ends up getting hurt. Unless of course one person involved is abusive in any form. Then I always root for the other guy/girl. :/
Hi Chanpreet! Thanks for stopping by! I've heard great things about Down to You. I'm adding it to my TBR pile right now!
DeleteNot really a fan of triangles.
ReplyDeleteHi bn! This one's a little different. :) I hope you'll give it a try.
DeleteSome of my favorite triangles are from Eve Langlais' fun, sexy stories.
ReplyDeleteHey June! Another new-to-me author. I'll have to check out Eve's books. I love fun and sexy.
DeleteMy favorite triangle was Scarlett, Ashley, and Rhett.
ReplyDeletekscathyATyahooDOTcom
Hi Cathy! Another Gone With the Wind fan! It's been so long since I've watched it, I might have to remedy that sometime soon.
DeleteOoohh, is the secret she had his child?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite love triangle is Cassie, Xander, and Ky from the Matched series!
Thanks,
Leanne
Hi Leanne! You're going to have to read it to find out! LOL Who's the author of the Matched series?
Deletethe trouble with a triangle (when all three are alive) is that someone is probably going to be hurt.
ReplyDeleteHi Di! I agree, but if done right, I think there's a clear reason why two pair off and the third one is okay with it. Forgot to mention another triangle I love - Stephanie, Morelli and Tank from Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books!
DeleteI like Ann Landers quote. I might have to steal it as one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! Oh, I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for letting me know. :)
DeleteOh, my gosh. I love, love, love that quote! Thank you for posting it! She summed it up perfectly.
