Sealed With a Kiss: Sara Lindsay and Giveaway

SARA LINDSEY began writing during her senior year of college. The rest, as they say, is history… or rather, historical romance. A recent graduate of Pratt Institute’s School of Information and Library Science, Sara currently lives in Los Angeles.

Having read many romances featuring librarians, Sara figures this profession bodes well for someday getting her own happily ever after. In the meantime, she plans to turn as many unsuspecting library patrons as possible into fellow romance addicts.

Places to find Sara:

I have always loved Valentine’s Day. A holiday devoted to hearts, flowers, chocolate and pretty cards—what’s not to love? Then again, I’m a hopeless romantic, much like the heroine in Tempting the Marquess, the second book in my Weston family series, which follows seven siblings with Shakespearean names and, much to their mother’s dismay, a definite affinity for impropriety.

Olivia Weston may be a hopeless romantic, but she’s pragmatic enough to know that marriage in real life will never measure up to the passionate romances she loves to read. When the opportunity for an adventure presents itself, Livvy seizes on the chance to have a bit of fun before settling into matrimonial complacency. She travels with her aunt and cousin to Wales, where they will spend the holidays with her aunt’s stepson (the titular marquess) in his haunted castle. Olivia is instantly attracted to the brooding, mysterious marquess, and she yearns to learn his deepest, darkest secrets… but will she discover them before she loses her heart to him?

As Tempting the Marquess is a romance, I don’t think I’m giving too much away by saying that Livvy does lose her heart to Jason. And sometime between locking Olivia out of his library and rescuing her from the Bow Street Runners, he falls in love with her. These letters are from Olivia and Jason’s first Valentine’s Day as a married couple, which takes place shortly before their first anniversary. (As you are seeing the hero and heroine post-epilogue, there is a minor spoiler, but I don’t think it will detract from anyone’s enjoyment of the book.)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

XOXO
Sara

St. Valentine's Day
1800

I ventured out the other day in search of a Valentine I might give to you. The shops were full of cards with illustrations and verses celebrating lovers, but I could not pick one. Beyond my usual indecisiveness, none of them came near to encompassing all that I feel for you.

No printed card can describe the tenderness that wells up in me when I see our daughter's tiny body cradled in your capable hands. No bouquet of roses can convey the way my heart clenches when I find that you have fallen asleep whilst reading to Edward. No piece of poetry—not even by Donne—can express the fire that races through me at your touch or the wickedness you inspire with a look.

I never imagined I would meet a man such as you. There are days, even now, when I pinch myself to be certain I am not living in a dream. We have not always sailed in perfect weather, but I would rather be on your ship during a storm than be without you, safe on dry land.

I would not change a moment of the journey that has led us to this point. Perhaps I would rather have visited the Bow Street offices under different circumstances, but no great harm came of my brief career as a criminal. I would not change the rest of that night for all the jewels in the Tower. I have even forgiven you for locking me out of the library at Arliss. Mind, should you ever again attempt such a thing, you will find yourself another bed in which to sleep, and neither of us would enjoy that.

I hope you will enjoy my gift. It is only a little watch seal, but it is your lover's eye, painted for you by your loving wife. If I captured even a small portion of my adoration of you, I will have painted the best work of my life. I had the back engraved with the opening lines from Donne's “The Bait”—`Come live with me, and be my love, and we will some new pleasures prove.' Life with you—loving you—brings new pleasures every day. You and our children are my greatest joy.

A happy St. Valentine's Day to you, my love, and I look forward to a lifetime more.

P.S. I have drawn myself for your present, but I much prefer drawing you. Come to the library tonight in your red silk banyan… and only your red silk banyan. I am certain that, between the two of us, we will find some new pleasures to prove.

Check out Olivia and Jason's love story in Tempting the Marquess

The Weston siblings have been blessed with Shakespearean names and an affinity for impropriety.
Prepare to fall in love while discovering how the Westons are won.

While Olivia Weston loves matchmaking and romantic novels, she intends to make a suitable match. But first she wants an adventure, and when given the opportunity to visit a reclusive widower living in a haunted castle, Livvy can’t possibly resist.

After his wife’s death, Jason Traherne, Marquess of Sheldon, shut his heart to everyone but his son, and until now he has succeeded in maintaining his distance. But there’s something about Livvy—her unique blend of sweetness and sensuality—that tempts him beyond all reason.

Though there’s nothing suitable about the feelings he inspires in her, Livvy can’t help falling for the marquess. But can she persuade him to let go of the past and risk his heart again?

    11. Yay! Okay, my computer was acting up and I was having some trouble posting. I'm so glad you're all enjoying Livvy's letter! I had so much fun revisiting her and Jason.

For those of you adding the book to your TBR mountains, a) I love you, and b) this is the second book in the Weston family series. It stands alone, but I do recommend reading Promise Me Tonight (Livvy's sister's story) first.

Sheryl - Needless to say, thank *YOU*

Maureen - Perhaps we should all try to write one letter instead of a card this Valentine's Day?

Joanne - Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy it!

Erin - Thank you! Wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day!

    15. As soon as I am able, cost-wise, -- as I have already read both of your books -- I am going to buy then for my own. I sincerely hope that you are able to publish your third Weston novel soon. Happy Valentine's day!

Thank you so much! That's so lovely to hear! Make sure you enter my website contest - I often give books away there.

The third book... I'm rather like Lady Weston with her opus, aren't I? I'm cleaning it up for my Russian publisher (they still want it) and then I'll release Hal and Diana upon the world...

Your comment made me a little teary-eyed, so I figure we're even. ;)

I hope you enjoy the book!

    25. I would hope she would loose her heart to Jason, he sounds swoon worthy. Her love letter is very poetic. Seems you hve had some practice writing flowing love letters? :)

    26. Sounds like a great series! I love when authors work Shakespeare into their stories--almost as much as I love it when they work in Jane Austen. ;) I'll definitely add this series to my TBR mountain range (thank goodness a good chunk of it is digital, or I would have lost sight of my children ages ago--and they're both taller than I am!)

I hope you enjoy both books! I'm picky about reading series in order too. I'm always torn between fear (for my wallet) and excitement when I find a book that sounds good only to learn that it's #17 in a series. Glom time!

I love all of Sarah MacLean's couples (and her book titles)! Devil and Honoria - wonderful choice! I love them as a couple and for what they represent as the start of the Cynster series.

Some of my favorite couples have already been mentioned:

      Darcy & Elizabeth
      Jamie & Claire
      Rhett & Scarlett

      I also love:

Anthony & Kate - Julia Quinn's The Viscount Who Loved Me

Raphael & Elena - Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series

Derek & Sara - Lisa Kleypas's Dreaming of You

Colin & Sugar Beth - Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Ain't She Sweet

...actually, pretty much any couple by any of those authors, and that's just a small sampling! I'm a romance addict!

    30. Cathy -

I adore Rhett and Scarlett! When I was a museum intern, I actually got to see the green & white BBQ dress (well, one of them -- I think there were at least 3 made)! I was in heaven!

Jason can brood with the best of them! Well, perhaps not Heathcliff, but he's in a brooding class of his own. Hope you enjoy the books!

Livvy is definitely an adventuress whose treasure hunt leads her on the journey of a lifetime... Hope you enjoy!
