A la Twitter style, please describe your book in 140 characters or less.
In my first new adult book, TRUE, Rory is socially awkward and is just looking to have the same sexual experiences as other girls…only she is not prepared for the feelings she winds up having for Tyler.
What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I like to write the dramatic scenes where you really have to pull the emotion out of the characters and help readers feel them. I want my readers crying and sighing.
If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead), who would you choose and why?
Edgar Allan Poe, because I want to know if he was at all like his writing, in which case he would be fascinating. Jane Austen, to ask if she has any insight in where to find a real life Mr. Darcy, my all time favorite hero. J.K. Rowling. She has to be chock full of advice and about the business of writing.
What are you favorite types of stories to read?
I read a lot of non-fiction, both for research and for pleasure. My book club has read some awesome titles. For fiction, I read everything—romance, YA, mystery, thrillers, literature. I just wish I had more time to read more!
Last question, are you working on anything right now?
I am working on a second new adult book, which features the heroine from TRUE’s roommate, Jessica. Rory and Jessica are total opposites, and while Jessica may have a ton of sexual experience, she has never let a guy into her heart—until now. It will be out in November of this year.
Awkward girl meets scorching-hot boy…
When Rory Macintosh’s roommates find out that their studious and shy friend has never been with a guy, they decide that, as an act of kindness they’ll help her lose her virginity by hiring confident, tattooed bad boy Tyler Mann to do the job…unbeknownst to Rory.
Tyler knows he’s not good enough for Rory. She’s smart, doctor smart, while he’s barely scraping by at his EMT program, hoping to pull his younger brothers out of the hell their druggy mother has left them in. But he can’t resist taking up her roommates on an opportunity to get to know her better. There’s something about her honesty keeps him coming back when he knows he shouldn’t…
Torn between common sense and desire, the two find themselves caught up in a passionate relationship. But when Tyler’s broken family threatens to destroy his future, and hers, Rory will need to decide whether to cut her ties to his risky world or follow her heart, no matter what the cost…

Hi Erin and congratulations on the release.
ReplyDeleteOne question that I have for you is between YA and NA which was easier to write and why?

What is one of your favorite dramatic scenes you have written to date? lisagk(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI loved Erin's early books because they were light fluff. From the description of True, it sounds like her writing is getting a bit edgier. Not a bad thing. I like to mix my fluff and edgy reads.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so good! I love books in which the circumstances are set up as a prank but the people actually end up falling for one another. It reminds me of the movie, 'She's All That.' Loved that movie ergo, I'll love this book!
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway!
