Readers first met Gage and Skyler in One Night of Sin, when good girl Skyler was looking to be very, very bad with a certain MMA fighter-turned-bouncer. Their impulsive fling led to true love, but just because they’re happily in love doesn’t mean they’re still not capable of surprising each other…
She didn’t have to glance over her shoulder to know he was following her. That had been her intention, after all. She’d coaxed him into the alley with sultry looks and wicked smiles, knowing he wouldn’t be able to resist. Not when her indecently short dress kept riding up her thighs. Not when she’d deliberately kept brushing up against his hard body each time she walked by him.
Skyler’s pulse raced as his footsteps sounded behind her. The pulsing bass line inside the club was so loud she could hear it outside, feel it vibrating beneath her high heels. She sucked in a breath when a big, warm hand splayed across her lower back, and then his deep voice rasped in her ear.
“You’ve been a bad girl tonight.”
She twisted her head to meet his eyes, her breathing quickening when she glimpsed a gleam of heat. The smoldering flames of sinful promise.
“What did I do?” she asked innocently.
“Are you kidding me? Showing up here in that fuck-me dress? Bending over any chance you get so you could flash those sexy tits at me? Rubbing up against me in the club?” That possessive hand traveled up the length of her spine, resting on the nape of her neck. “You knew it would drive me crazy, baby. You wanted to drive me crazy.”
A shiver raced through her as his hand slid down her bare arm before curling around to cup one of her breasts. Hard enough to make her whimper.
“You probably shouldn’t do that,” she murmured. “My boyfriend might walk outside any second.”
His cheek nuzzled the side of her neck, a dark chuckle leaving his lips. “Your boyfriend, huh? And why would he bother tracking you down now, when he’s left you alone all damn night?”
Skyler turned around, leaning into his broad, muscular body. “Because he promised to kiss me at midnight. And he always keeps his promises.”
Gage chuckled again, his rugged face donning her favorite expression—that thrilling combination of raw heat and sweet adoration. “Do I?”
“Always.” She pressed her palms to his hard chest, tipping her head to meet his eyes. “You better pucker up, babe. They’re starting to count down.”
The sound of muffled voices chanting the New Year’s countdown echoed behind the back door of the club. They’d just eight.
Seven. Six.
Gage didn’t make a move. Didn’t pull her closer. Didn’t thrust his fingers through her hair in that forcefully seductive grip she craved.
Five. Four. Three.
His gorgeous eyes fixated on her lips.
Skyler’s heart thudded.
Two.
Her eyelids fluttered shut.
One.
The kiss didn’t come.
Her eyes popped open as she felt something hard and soft being thrust into her palm. Her fingers involuntarily curled around the object, then relaxed as she stared at her hand—and her heart flew to her throat. She was holding a black-velvet jeweler’s box.
“Open it,” Gage said gruffly.
With shaky fingers, Skyler snapped open the little box, gasping as the brilliant diamond winked up at her. She wrenched her gaze away from the ring and looked at Gage in shocked wonder.
His lips quirked. “Happy New Year, sweetheart.”
No More Mr. Nice Guy…
The moment AJ Walsh sees the sexy, tattooed pixie walk up to his bar, it's lust at first sight. Brett Conlon is trying to convince her family that she's put away her reckless wild girl side for good. Nothing―and no one―could be better for her reputation than golden boy AJ Walsh.
