Gina Conkle writes lush Viking romance and sensual Georgian romance. Her books offer a fresh, addictive spin on the genre, with the witty banter and sexual tension that readers crave. She grew up in southern California and despite all that sunshine, Gina loves books over beaches and stone castles over sand castles. Now she lives in Michigan with her favorite alpha male, Brian, and their two sons where she occasionally gardens and cooks.
The hour approached midnight when Lord Edward arrived at Greenwich Hall. He raced upstairs to find the adjoining door between his suite and his wife’s firmly shut. He loathed disturbing her sleep. Ripping off his cravat, he poured a glass of Scotch whiskey that would remain untouched.
On his pillow sat a letter.

It's going to take a Beast to tame this Beauty
Enigma Earl. The Phantom of London. That's what the gossip pages call Lord Edward Greenwich, a mysterious nobleman who doesn't show his face in London Society. With a reputation like that, no wonder Lydia Montgomery is horrified to be dragged from bed and packed off to live with him to save her mother from penury.
While Lydia has received all of the training a lady should endure, she's decidedly un-ladylike. She despises her corset and isn't interested in marriage. She'd prefer to remain unmarried and spend her time improving her art. But if she wants a chance at happiness, she'll have to set aside her fear of the earl and discover the man hiding behind the beast.
Will Edward and Lydia's greatest discovery be each other before time runs out?

I love when the couple starts off as only friends and then realize there is more to it than that! It's fun to watch that realization.
ReplyDeleteThese characters have to make it work. They make the effort to see, understand, and find a path. Oh, sounds like all marriages! But to do so without love seems a challenge!
ReplyDeleteI loved these letters and seeing the real Edward emerge with her silence.. Marriages of convenience are enjoyable because they eventually end up falling in love.

Marriage of Convenience can put two people together that otherwise wouldn't spend time together & therefore find out they like each other.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Meet the Earl at Midnight! I'm not entering since I have both ebook and print book. I love these letters! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Glenda! I'm so glad you love Edward and Lydia as much as you do. It was fun to revisit them and write these letters.

ReplyDeleteI love seeing how 2 people come together. :)
ReplyDeleteIt brings two people together who don't want to be married. But they discover there is more to each other. With that discovery they are falling in love.

ReplyDeleteThanks Lori. I had a good time plumbing the male psyche...from my female perspective. :-)
DeleteI like marriages of convenience because you get two people that begin to
ReplyDeletefall in love after just wanting to stay friends
It's the forced thing that gets me. How can two people that may not be suited for each other make it work? And if they're are enemies to begin with then the sexyness factor can go so high up!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the enemy/sexy factor. :-)
