ARC Review: Havoc by Nina Levine

Havoc is book number eight in the Storm MC series by Nina Levine. This book is a standalone story though, so don't worry about jumping in here if you haven't read previous books. I really enjoyed this story and the characters, and I loved how hot Carla and Havoc were together! This is probably my favorite of the series that I have read, and I can't wait to go back and read the ones I have missed.

fter his ex left him, Havoc has been happy to be on his own. He doesn't do commitments and he doesn't do connections. But when he meets Carla, things are different and she is unlike any woman he has met before. But while Havoc is content to live his life for his club, Carla is looking for stability. Though each of them try to fight what is between them, they soon realize that what they have is undeniable. Though they want to make things work, there are several obstacles standing in their way.

I absolutely loved Carla and Havoc! The chemistry between these two was off the charts hot! I couldn't get enough of them from the very start, and I am honestly surprised my Kindle didn't burst into flames. I loved how Carla was feisty and held her own with Havoc, yet when things got going between them she could submit and let him take control. Havoc was super sexy and commanding, and I loved when he would tell Carla exactly what he wanted. The dirty talk between these two was fantastic, and I loved seeing them explore the physical connection they shared as much as I enjoyed seeing that turn into more. Both of them had things they were dealing with and knew that the other wasn't what they thought they wanted, yet it ended up being that they were so right for one another!

Overall, this was a great addition to this series and I really liked seeing these two together. I loved their connection and the fact that they were perfect together in every aspect of their relationship. I felt invested in these characters right away, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen for them. While I loved the steamy stuff here, I was so glad that it was more than that and that we got to see the emotional side as well. These characters had a lot they were dealing with and there were times that things got really intense, especially for Havoc. But I thought that Nina Levine did a great job of creating a story that balanced it all out perfectly and I cannot wait to read more from her in the future.

ARC Review: Illusive by Nina Levine

Let me just start by saying, I love MC romance. If you haven’t tried it and you like dirty talking, alpha bad boys with criminal tendencies, you really should try some MC books. Illusive is the 6th book in the Storm series and it is marked as a standalone. However, I have not read all of the other books in the series and I found myself tying to play a little bit of catch up sometimes. There are a lot of issues in the club that are being played out in this book and honestly I just felt one step behind the polka half the time because I didn’t know what was going on. I think you can read this book as a standalone, but I would recommend you read the other books in the series first. If you plan to read the other books in the series anyway, I think this one probably spoils some of the stuff that happens in earlier stories. So do yourself a favor, read in order this time.

Illlusive is Griff and Sophia’s story. Griff is the VP of the Storm MC and Sophia is the neighbor of his surrogate mother. As the book opens, I figured out that the Storm MC was struggling with some internal traitors. Griff is personally dealing with some issues from his past which I won’t spoil for you. I can tell you that Griff’s Storm brothers don’t know about his past and Griff is willing to go to some truly criminal lengths to maintain their ignorance. There is a fair amount of plot line devoted to Griff’s struggle to maintain his present and deal with his past. Sophia is ok…I like that she kind of says whatever is in her head, sometimes without even coming up for air. Sophia’s past of neglect and abandonment give her character some interesting layers and help to explain her aversion to “hooking up.” I guess my only issue with Sophia is that I would have liked for her to make her attraction to Griff a little less obvious. She wasn’t actively pursuing him, but the whole calling him “handsome” as a nickname just didn’t appeal to me when he was pretty much ignoring her.

Yes, Griff is a brooding alpha type who is extremely economic with his use of the English language- So he doesn’t talk a lot. But I liked that. I liked Griff’s introspection and the reasons for his brooding were logical. When Sophia and Griff finally get together, it’s a good match with great sex. I enjoyed the relationship between the two but I wish it had taken up more of the plot line. My problem with this book is that there were a lot of page spent on “club business” and the stuff from Griff’s background. I have to be honest, I had moments where I was kind of bored because that just isn’t what I was reading the book for. At the end of the day, I would say this is a decent book with decent writing. It gets off to a really slow start but picks up in the middle. There is a great romance in here somewhere but a lot of other stuff too.

ARC Review: Slay by Nina Levine

Slay is the fourth book in the Storm MC Series by Nina Levine and while this one can be read as a standalone with interconnected characters, the overall story continues from one book to the next. I hadn't read the previous books at the time I read this story though, and I had no problems understanding anything. I do think that it would have been nice to know some of the secondary characters though, and I will definitely be going back and reading the previous books in the series.

Donovan "Blade" Brookes hasn't had an easy life, and his past haunts him. He grew up with a father that treated his mother and him horribly and he lost his fiance in one of the worst ways imaginable. Just trying to get by, Blade goes to the same bar almost every night and ends up meeting the owner Layla. He helps her out when she needs it, and soon they are both wanting to act on the attraction they feel. The more they get to know one another, the stronger their connection becomes. Both of them begin to realize that the connection they share is unlike anything they have felt before. But both Blade and Layla have a lot they are dealing with that could end things before they really begin.

I liked Blade a lot. He was honest and didn't play games. He didn't make excuses for his actions and he always tried to do the best by the women in his life. He was a good guy that had a rough start, but I was really glad to see that it didn't change him into a total jerk. He was vulnerable after losing his fiance, and he was struggling so much with everything that had happened. But Layla was exactly what he needed, and I loved seeing her be so supportive and encouraging. Layla was a great heroine! She was strong and independent, and I really liked seeing such a kick-ass heroine. She could hold her own, and wasn't afraid to stand up to those that needed it. She also had such a kind and sweet side, and I loved how accepting she was. She took Blade as he was and helped him move forward with his life without judging him. These two were perfect for one another, and I cannot tell you how happy that the drama in this book was surrounding them rather than in their relationship itself. It was nice to see two characters be able to really accept their feelings and not try to fight it too hard or run away scared. These two were super hot together, and I loved Blade's alpha personality. But I loved the connection they shared and I think that is a lot of what made these two burn so bright for me.

Overall, this was a really good story. I loved the characters and enjoyed seeing them fall for one another. I do think that this book ended a bit abruptly though, and that is the reason that this one wasn't a full five stars for me. Even with the epilogue, I just felt like it had stopped too soon. But beyond that, I really liked this one. I can't wait to read more in this series though, and I would definitely recommend this one. I think if you like MC books this is definitely a series you should check out. What really made me love this one was the fact that there was no cheating. It's not often you come across an MC book with no cheating, so this one was very refreshing for me. I look forward to more from Nina Levine in the future.
