ARC Review: His Royal Favorite by Lilah Pace

His Royal Favorite is the second book in the His Royal Secret series by Lilah Pace. This book is not a standalone, and picks up after the events of His Royal Secret. If you haven't read that book yet, you will want to start there before proceeding. His Royal Secret ended with a HFN ending, though there was a cliffhanger. I was really looking forward to getting more of James and Ben and couldn't wait to see how things would play out for these two.

James, the Prince of Wales, has decided to let the world know about his relationship with Ben and come clean about being gay. Though Ben and James are in love and ready for the future, James and Ben both worry about how that will change both of their lives. But after the world finds out, things begin to implode as Ben's past is put on spotlight and James' sister's health begins to decline. Can Ben and James prove that love conquers all, or will there be too many things standing in their way despite the love they have found in each other?

I was so happy to see that James was going to come out and that Ben was there to stand beside him. Their love felt strong in the first book and yet neither of them had ever expected to be with each other in the long run. I knew they would have many difficulties ahead of them, and that was definitely true here. Part of that was both of them struggling with their new circumstances, with Ben's whole life altered drastically. I felt for him and all that he was going through, but I will admit that it was frustrating at times to see both of them questioning each other and their future. While their connection and chemistry were still very real, it felt like something was missing and that these two were going through the motions at times. I wanted to see them on solid ground and finding their footing together, but their relationship just felt off kilter through much of this book.

I also felt like this book suffered a bit like the first one did in that the pacing was a bit slow and had a tendency to drag at times. I think that again we got more of the mundane details than were needed, and after reading this book I really feel that this one would have been better off as a single novel rather than a duet. The overall story was good and I liked the characters, but I do think that this could have been a lot shorter and condensed for a much more solid story. I still think that these books are worth the read, especially if you are a fan of contemporary M/M romance. This series didn't have quite the same spark that Lilah's first series did though, so while I enjoyed it I didn't love it. James and Ben were great together though, and I was happy about how things turned out here.

ARC Review: Seducing The Boss by Mari Carr

The first thing you need to know is that the name of this book is a total misnomer. Kellan is Sara's boss and also one of her oldest friends. When Kellan finds Sara sad and lonely after being stood up one night, he starts to see his friend in a new light. Sara is having a moment where she is wondering what is wrong with her. She does not have a good history with relationships and while men are finding women to hook up with all around her, no one seems interested in her. Even though Kellen knows he shouldn't, he can't help but to tell his friend and work subordinate that she is beautiful and desirable, you know, to comfort her. When Sara does not seem convinced, Kellen takes it one step further and offers to prove to her how desirable she is during one weekend in which he will rock her world repeatedly. Sara really wants to say no but she wants to say yes even more than that. And what kind of book with this be if she did the smart thing?

So Sara and Kellen embark on their one weekend. It's one weekend because Kellen does not do long term ever. It turns out that Kellen has some really complicated reasons for being a confirmed bachelor that travel back to his youth. This is one of the things I really liked about this book.We are always reading about manwhores who have no excuse for their lack of self control or commitment phobia. I liked that Kellen was really a good guy and that the author offered us a plausible reason why he chose to keep out of long term relationships.

I also really liked Sara's character. For as anti-relationship as Kellen is, Sara is positive that she wants the long term love with picket fences and diaper bags. Sara knows going in that there is no way that she can get those things from Kellen. Because of that, when the weekend is up, it is Sara who ends things. Kellen doesn't want to let go but he also doesn't want to "DTR"- define the relationship as the kids say. And this is why I love Sara, she was having none of the wishy washy BS.

The chemistry between Sara and Kellen is off the charts. They are clearly the perfect match for one another and most people have known this since they were kids. The scenes between Sara and Kellen make you love their developing love. But even with all that, Sara would not back down. And by not backing down from what she wanted, Sara forced Kellen to rethink what was important to him and to finally face some issues from his past.

This is a real love story. So for all of you out there who like the books that are more focused on the romance, this is one of those. And oh yeah, you still get some smoking hot sex and dirty talk to go with it. I highly recommend this read.

ARC Review: Chased by Love by Melissa Foster

Chased by Love is the newest addition to the Love in Bloom series by Melissa Foster and is the third Ryders book. Each book is a standalone story, but for full enjoyment these books are fantastic when read in order. I seriously cannot get enough of Melissa's books, and I love each new release of hers and how it continues to give us glimpses into this amazing world that she has created.

Trish Ryder is a serious actress that believes everyone should take their job as serious as she does. As much as she was looking forward to working with her crush, famous rocker Boone Stryker, she quickly realizes that he is not the man she thought he was. Showing up late or not at all, and turning ice cold when the cameras roll is not what she expected from him. So when the director sends them to their next shooting location for ten days to get things figured out both of them are surprised to realize that there is more between them than they first thought. But is it just attraction between Trish and Boone, or could they possibly find a future together that they never could have expected?

I will admit that I struggled a lot with Boone at the beginning of this story. He came off as a jerk, and even though he knew it he continued to act that way. I wanted so badly to like him, especially knowing all that he had been through and continued to deal with. Yet I also saw how he was acting and that made it hard at times. Luckily that didn't last long, and he won me over quickly. I was so glad that he was able to let Trish in and show her who he really was, and not just the reputation that the world assumed was correct. Trish was a firecracker, feisty and strong. I really loved her and was glad that she was able to hold her own. She was exactly what Boone needed in a woman, never giving up on him or letting him get away with shutting her out. These two had smoking hot chemistry right from the start, but their bond was one that took time to build and I really enjoyed seeing it form.

Overall, I really enjoyed Chased by Love. Melissa Foster has once again delivered a solid and captivating romance that I didn't want to put down. Chased by Love was emotional and I really loved seeing familiar faces as well as getting to know some new ones. The thing I love most about Melissa's stories is seeing the importance of family, friends and love, and how that is always a constant in her books. Even with those things always in her stories though, each book is new and fresh and that keeps me coming back for more every time. If you are a fan of contemporary romance, Melissa Foster should be on your must read list. Chased by Love was a great story, and I honestly can't wait for Jake and Addy's story after seeing them at the end of this one.

Feature and Giveaway: Blind Spot by Katana Collins

I'm used to going for the easy things in life.
The easy A in school.
The easy lay in bed. The easy life my trust fund affords me.
Until I met Shelby.
Never in my life have I found retro T-shirts and lip balm so damn sexy.
She's exactly what I never knew I wanted.
And she's anything but easy.
But suddenly, easy is overrated.

Only one damn problem... For Shelby, hating me is easy.

For the first time in my life, I have to work for something. And though she may not be easy...she'll be worth it.
