ARC Review: Sugar Free by Sawyer Bennett

I don't remember the last time I read an entire three-part series and gave every single part of the series a 5-star rating. But this series- OMG! Every single installment including this one have been off the charts good. Not just good, but sitting on the edge of your seat, trying to breathe and dropping your kindle because you're so excited good. I give such major props to Sawyer Bennett for reinventing herself as an author and writing something that exhibits all her best qualities but still breaks new ground for her.

If you have not read the first two books in this series, this is where you leave us. These books are all continuations of one another. You can't read this book without reading rhe other two first. This review will not contain any Sugar Free spoilers but it will definitely spoil the first two books for you.

When Sugar Free kicks off JT is dead. Sela has to tell Beck what happened. Beck makes the decision to help her cover up the murder and Caroline is along for the ride. Even though Sela made the decision not to tell Beck and Caroline about JT's confession about Caroline, she does change her mind. But but but, none of that works out the way you might think. Sawyer Bennett manages to weave mystery and suspense within mystery and suspense. Half way through the book you will be going wait WHAT? Instead of just wrapping everything up in this book, Bennett continues the adventure right up until the end. That's why I really love this book.

It seems like seriel authors sometimes dial it in during parts of the series. Bennett didn't do that here. She continued to develop the relationship between Beck and Sela in a very real way. Everything was not just wonderful between the two. Sela didn't just kill JT and ride off into the sunset with the love of her life. Things were legitimately and understandably rough for the couple. Their ability to pull through hard times and strengthen their love was really amazing to watch. It put this book over the top and made it a love story and an adventure that I will remember for a long time. If you have already come this far in this series, I probably don't have to convince you but I can reassure you. This book doesn't just fizzle. Sawyer Bennett delivers everything you are looking for and more.

Feature: Sugar Free by Sawyer Bennett

Sela and Beck’s deliciously sinful tale of sex, lies, and vengeance reaches its explosive conclusion in the final chapter of Sawyer Bennett’s Sugar Bowl trilogy, which began with the novels Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush.

For years Sela Halstead dreamed of revenge, but the quest for payback has been anything but sweet. Now, once again, she finds herself at the mercy of Jonathon Townsend, his hands crushing the very breath from her body. And even though she escapes with her life, Sela fears she may never recover. In desperate need of shelter and comfort, she runs to the one man she can trust. Beckett North has stood by Sela since the beginning. But can he handle the brutal truth?

Beck will do anything to protect what is his—and make no mistake, Sela belongs to him, heart and soul. The passion between them runs hot, even as their world begins to unravel. With the legacy of his ruthless business partner hanging in the balance, Beck stands to lose everything: his fortune, his family, his freedom. But each touch of Sela’s mouth on his skin, her nails down his back, makes it harder to let her go—and it might not even be his choice to make.

ARC Review: High-Sided by L.P. Dover

L.P. Dover is one of my favorite authors, so I honestly don't even question whether or not I will read a new release of hers. Each time I see something with her name on it, it is just a given that I will be reading it since I know I am going to love it! High-Sided was definitely one that I loved and it might even be my favorite of the Armed & Dangerous Series so far! This story had everything that I expected and more, and I think this book is one that readers will love.

Logan Chandler lived his life on the wild and reckless side until an accident on the track changed everything. Forced to leave behind his riding career, Logan is now one of the best FBI agents in the country. But when a call from an old friend sends him back to the racetrack, he comes face to face with the girl he never though he would see again. Logan will do whatever it takes to make sure that Kassidy is safe, but can he save her and win her back?

I loved these two! They were perfect for one another and it was as if time and circumstances didn't exist for them. Though so much had changed, it was obvious that their feelings had not. I was glad that they were able to move forward and that Kassidy was able to move past the fact that Logan had pushed her away. Not only did these two have an undeniable and unbreakable connection, but they also had such strong chemistry and were super hot together.

Overall, another fantastic addition to this series and I didn't want to put this one down. L.P. Dover is a great writer and I love getting lost in her books. This is the third book of the Armed & Dangerous series, but each book is a standalone story. If you are new to this series, I recommend reading each of the books though you can read them out of order. But honestly you can't go wrong with any of her books, and I am already looking forward to seeing what she has planned next!

ARC Review: Come to Me Quietly by A.L. Jackson

I really loved Come To Me Quietly. It was a great story and I couldn't put it down. While this isn't my first book from AL Jackson, I am always impressed with her beautiful writing. If you haven't read anything by her yet, this is definitely one worth taking a chance on.

After everything that he has been through, Jared doesn't believe that he deserves to find love since he destroys everything he touches. But when he returns to town and runs into an old friend, he finds himself staying with Christopher and his sister Aleena. Chris and Aly had once been his best friends, but neither of them are the same people they once were, especially Aly. Though Jared is drawn to Aly, he is determined to stay away from her since he knows that he would only destroy her. But it becomes harder and harder to fight what is between them, and Aly is just as determined to show him that what they have together is worth taking a chance on.

I absolutely loved both Aly and Jared. They had so much history and I was instantly captivated with their story. I had to know more about them and what all had happened to make Jared leave everything behind. My heart broke for him as he was so hard on himself. I just knew there was so much to this sweet guy that you didn't know and I couldn't wait to find out what it was. Aly was perfect for him, and I was so glad that she didn't give up on him. She gave him exactly what he needed and I couldn't have imagined anyone better for him. Their chemistry was strong, but it was their undeniable connection that made them such a special couple.

I will say that there were times that Jared frustrated me with how down on himself he got. He kept pushing Aly away because he didn't believe he was good enough for her, and after awhile it got a bit old. I still really loved the story and the characters, but that was what kept this one from being a five star read for me. I am excited that AL Jackson has continued their story in another book. While there is a good stopping point here, there is room for more and I am excited to see what happens next for them. I highly recommend this one to NA fans and readers who love emotional romance stories.

ARC Review: After Loving You by Ashelyn Drake

Ashelyn Drake is a new to me author. I loved the sound of this book though, so I had to take the chance on it. While this wasn't a horrible book, it definitely wasn't what I was expecting.

Mia and Jared broke up before college, but two years later they find themselves thinking of one another. Though each of them are seeing different people, they can't seem to let go of the past. But as they find themselves being drawn to each other once more, they also must figure out if they belong together, or if it is time to move on.

I have to admit that a lot of what I struggled with here was the characters. They felt really immature for me, and that was hard for me to connect with. I expected quite a bit of angst, and there was plenty. But there was so much push and pull that it just got old at times. I can't really get into it much without spoiling anything, so I won't go into specifics, but I did really like one character here. They were the bright spot for me and honestly I thought that they deserved better.

My biggest issue was that this book was so misleading. I felt like it was a story about one thing, when in actuality it was something else entirely. I could have been on board with that, had I known that ahead of time. But I don't appreciate being led to believe one thing and then get something else entirely. I think part of it was done for shock value and it didn't feel entirely genuine, especially considering a lot of what happened here. So while this story had promise, overall this wasn't entirely for me. I think that there are other readers out there that will really enjoy this one though, so if it sounds like something you might like I recommend giving it a shot.
