Guest Post with Author Vanessa Devereaux and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to the blog author Vanessa Devereaux. Vanessa is currently on tour promoting her new book Then Came You. So please everyone, give Vanessa a warm welcome.

I'm glad the topic of this blog post is loving someone from afar because that's the basic theme of my new book Then Came You
The hero Connor O'Riordan has had his heart set on Gillian Matthews for two years. He's a rancher in Wyoming and she's the sales rep for a pharmaceutical company that supplies drugs and vaccines for his horses and livestock. The fist time she visited the ranch he was attracted to her. Gillian also felt something for him, only problem was she had a boyfriend and wasn't the cheating kind. It's something she made very clear to Connor from day one. He accepts it but makes her promise that is she ever parts company with the man in her life she'll tell him.

When the story open's she calling Connor for the first time since breaking up with her boyfriend. Being a woman of her word, she tells him she's single again. In his heart he always believed he'd get an opportunity to date her but when he hears the news he's sent into a panic. What if she starts dating someone before he has an opportunity to romance her? He decides he has to move fast and invites her to the ranch for the Thanksgiving holiday where he plans to treat her like a princess.

This was a great story to write because I'd never touched on this theme before so it was new territory for me. Connor never knew if Gillian would ever break up with her boyfriend. He hung in there hoping that one day things would fall into place.

Although he's been a bachelor for sometime I didn't want him to come across as a guy who feared commitment just the opposite in fact. I also wanted him to be a true romantic at heart as well. The kind that opens doors and pulls out chairs for a lady. I really thought that this was the type of personality that would match someone that has loved someone from afar.

I love all the characters I create but have to say when Connor started taking shape on the page he began to be one of my favorites. He's the sort of guy that any woman would be proud to say was their guy and in fact, you'd feel honored that a man like this had waited so long for you.

Of course when you have someone great like Connor, you can't just pair him with just any lady. I had to create a heroine worthy of him and came up with Gillian. I tried to create someone that readers would like and could get a sense of why Connor found her so special.

Most of the other books I've read about worshipping and loving someone from afar focus on people they knew as children and teenagers and never ever got around to telling just how they felt about them. I always think it's so sad that they lost perhaps the love of their lives. It was one of the reasons I waned to create this happy ending for Connor because I knew, and I think readers will agree, no guy deserves a HEA more than him.

I hope you'll check out Connor and Gillian's story and enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it.

Connor O'Riordan had his heart set on Gillian Matthews the first day she stepped onto his ranch but the only problem she had a boyfriend. He'd made her promise that if the two of them ever broke up she'd tell him. Gillian is a woman of her word and when Connor finds out she's now available he'll do anything to woo and romance the lady of his dreams. The best way to start...invite her to spend Thanksgiving at his ranch.
