Interview with Author Diane Alberts and Giveaway

Hi guys. Today I would like to welcome to the blog author Diane Alberts. Diane is currently on tour promoting the release of her book Kill Me Tomorrow. Diane was kind enough to allow me to ask her a few questions and I would love to share them with all of you.

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
Me? Hmm…I’m pretty boring. I’m (almost) 30, been married for (almost) 10 years, and have 4 kids (2 boys and 2 girls). I live in Northeast PA, and currently have three contracted books with Decadent Publishing (with another being considered as of today). Oh, and I dye yarn.

Did you always want to be a writer?
As far back as I remember: yes. I read my first romance book when I was twelve, and have been hooked ever since! It always has been, and always will be, my favorite genre.

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
Panster. All the way. I don’t plot. Can’t plot. It’s annoying, sometimes. I’d like to plot it. I really would.

Where do your ideas come from?
Some inner vault in the corner of my mind. Or I read something, and go, “Oh, what if instead, this happened, and then she did this?” Then, a whole other story comes out of me; I sit at my computer, and out it comes! Sometimes, I draw certain things from my real life, as well. In Kill Me Tomorrow, Jasmine’s dagger is inspired by a knife I read about in a book, and have since lusted after for years.

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
Jasmine doesn’t want to desire her enemy. But how can she resist when he is the first to make her feel anything even resembling passion?

Out of any of your books, which one would you like to be a character in? And why?
Escape to Me, my time-travel romance. I’ve always wanted to go back in time. To see the fancy dresses, and elaborate balls. I’d want to go back as a ton member…not a peasant. And to wear a ball gown and dance with an earl? Yes, please!

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
Historical romances, all the way. 1800’s in England with a disenchanted nobleman, and 1500’s in Scotland, with an angry laird. Love them all!

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
Of mine, or someone else’s? I’ll answer both, to be safe.
Mine: Reclaimed will always be my baby. It was my first book, and it showed me that I could write. Since then, I haven’t stopped.

Someone else’s: My favorite, to this day, is the Jude Devereux Montgomery series. It was my first romance book ever (Highland Velvet), and I still like to read the series every few years.

Have you ever fallen for another author's hero? If so, who and why?
Every time I read a book, I fall for the hero. If the author did a good job, then everyone should, right? Or am I alone in that?

Describe the characteristics that make up your perfect hero.
Alpha, but not an ass. He must be controlling and demanding, but when he’s around our heroine he turns softer. Loving and compassionate.

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
Sex scenes. I never know how much detail to give. How into the character’s heads I should go. I feel like I’m intruding, almost. But, at the same time, it’s such a pivotal point in the story, where they finally give in and let passion rule.

If you could have dinner with any three book characters, who would you choose and why?
Stephen from Highland Velvet (Because I will always love him), Harry Potter (who wouldn’t want to meet the boy who lived?), and Jeremy Mallory (From Johanna Lindsay’s Mallory series) because, hell’s bell’s, he seems like fun! Then, we’d all go drinking together. And Harry would use spells to entertain us in the bar, like making people dance against their will. And elevating beer bottles out of people’s hands.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
JK Rowling (because her imagination amazes me), Teresa Medeiros, and Christina Dodd. The latter two because they seem like so much fun to hang out with!

What do you like to do in your free time?
Knit. I love knitting.

Favorite movie?
Oh, God. I’ve seen so many. I like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Who doesn’t love a HOT pirate?

Favorite song?
Anything from Barenaked Ladies (the band, get your mind out of the gutter) ;)

Favorite color?
Purple!

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Yup, the sequel to Reclaimed. It’s just started, but it’s gonna be good.

Jasmine Baruch is a jinn-a supernatural being who fights demons with fire. While that's difficult enough, she's got bigger problems. She's a virgin, and in the jinn culture, that is sheer blasphemy. Jinn are supposed to be passionate, promiscuous creatures-everything she isn't. Due to marry the next day, she takes matters into her own hands by using 1NS. But, like the rest of her life, nothing is easy. The man chosen for her, though incredibly gorgeous, is a demi-sanguine; a half-human, half-demon-her enemy.

Gavin Werbato is looking for an easy night of sex. Nothing more, nothing less. Instead, he gets a gorgeous jinn convinced it is her duty to kill him. He can certainly think of better things to do with her soft hands than murder. He need only convince her of that...

Can the fire sparked when these beings collide be controlled, or will it consume their world as they know it?

**Excerpt**

She’d accomplished nothing at all.

Nothing.

A weight sank beside her on the bed, and she shrieked. She darted a glance at the door, but it remained locked. Of course it did— portals didn’t hold back demons.

“Good punch.” He laughed and rubbed his nose. “Some men might hold a grudge—but not me. I heal too fast.”

Indeed he did. A glance at his face revealed features as gorgeous as ever. This sucked for the self-pity party she’d been trying to throw.

She preferred him bloody and not so devilishly striking.

She groaned and dropped her head into her hands. “Why won’t you just leave?” He caressed her arm in a lazy, seductive way, and she shivered. “Stop that.”

His hand stopped moving, but he didn’t remove it. “Why do I have to stop?” he murmured. “Why do I have to leave?” He traced an invisible path leading up to her shoulder. From there, he grasped a curl and twirled it between his fingers, as if testing its elasticity. Her scalp tingled at his tender tug, and a jolt of lightning shot straight to her stomach, causing her to bite back a moan.

“Because….” She lifted her head, and turned to face him.

His eyes were so blue they were nearly purple, which, combined with his light blond hair, made him a lethal opponent indeed. How could she resist such a gorgeous creature, knowing that it might be her last chance to rid herself of her virginity? Yet, how could she say yes? “Because you are half demon, and I am a jinn. We are adversaries, you and I.”

“I’m not an evil demi-sanguine,” he assured her calmly. “I don’t rape, kill, or pillage. I’m unremarkably human—plus a few small details. But you are hardly normal yourself,” he drawled with a lazy grin. “And I’d like to make love to you.”

  9. Such a yummy sounding book, but then all the 1NS books sound fantastic. Wish I could afford to buy them all immediately, but my book budget is pretty tapped out.
