Check out Cecily and Lucas' love story in HOW TO DANCE WITH A DUKE.
What’s a wallflower to do when she’s suddenly in need of a husband? Use all the pluck and moxie she can muster to get what she wants…My Dear Cecily,
I know this will find you well. I’ve been watching you from afar since you got back to London, and have assured myself daily of your safety.
I wish that I could tell you that I am here as well, but my fears for you make it impossible for me to do so. So I watch, and wait. And do what I can to ensure that whoever wishes to do you harm is caught at last.
Can it have been only a few short weeks since we met, there on the steps of the Egyptian Club, which has come to be such a special place for us? Who would have guessed that the Club that denied both of us entrance would host the most pivotal moments in our relationship? Not I. And I daresay not you either. Especially given the way you kicked at the locked door of it that day. I still chuckle to remember it.
There will be more memories for us. More laughter. And I hope that once this business with the expedition is behind us, we will be able to be frank with one another. I know that you were hurt by that bastard who broke your heart. But I am a different man. A man who knows your worth, who knows that you are more valuable than any of the artifacts you are so familiar with. And I hope that once you have seen how much I love you that you will open your heart to me as well.
I must go now and meet with the man from Bow Street. I hope to see you soon.
Ever yours,
Winterson

SHE’S IN NEED OF A PARTNER
Miss Cecily Hurston would much rather explore the antiquities of Egypt than the uncharted territory of marriage. But the rules of her father’s exclusive academic society forbid her entrance unless she weds one of its members. To clear her ailing father’s name of a scandalous rumor, Cecily needs to gain admission into the Egyptian Club—and is willing to marry any old dullard to do it.
AND HE HAS ALL THE RIGHT MOVES
Lucas Dalton, Duke of Winterson, is anything but dull. He’s a dashing and decorated war hero determined to help Cecily—even if that means looking the other way when she claims the dance card of Amelia Snow, this season’s most sought-after beauty. But Lucas has a reason for wanting Cecily to join the Egyptian Club: His brother went missing during one of Lord Hurston’s expeditions to Egypt. An alliance with the explorer’s bluestocking daughter could bring Lucas closer to the truth about what happened…or it could lead him to a more dangerous love than either he or Cecily could have imagined….

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new release. It's a shame that society has gotten away from the written letter. Email doesn't have the same emotional connection.
