Today I would like to welcome both R.C. Ryan and Katie Lane to RFTC. Both ladies are part of the Forever Western Blog Tour and have taken the time out of their busy schedules to let me ask them a few questions. So lets get to know them a bit shall we.
New York Times bestselling author R.C. Ryan has written more than ninety fiction novels, both contemporary and historical. Quite an accomplishment for someone who, after her fifth child started school, gave herself the gift of an hour a day to follow her dream to become a writer.
The Lost, an anthology of stories by J.D. Robb, Mary Blayney, Patricia Gaffney, and R.C. Ryan writing as Ruth Ryan Langan was published in Fall 2009. Ms. Ryan’s story, “The Legacy,” is an exciting tale of intrigue and other-worldly adventure.
In a career spanning more than twenty years, Ms. Ryan has given dozens of radio, television, and print interviews across the country and Canada, and has been quoted in such diverse publications as the Wall Street Journal and Cosmopolitan. She has also appeared on CNN News, as well as Good Morning America.

Wolf-whisperer Quinn Conway wins heart of rancher Cheyenne O'Brien. Together they face an enemy who will stop at nothing to see them dead.
What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
Hmm. I love writing love scenes. But I also love writing the suspense scenes. Both are like choreographing a dance. Each little movement. Each step. Every word has to have meaning. and convey real emotion to the reader.
If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead), who would you choose and why?
Only three? That's a tough call.
Stephen King. I love the way he conjures terror in the heart of the reader. What a gift.
Phillipa Gregory. I love the rich tapestry of historical data she weaves through her historicals dealing with the era of Queen Elizabeth and Henry of England.
William Shakespeare. I'd love to ask if he actually wrote all the plays attributed to him.
Last question, are you working on anything right now?
I'm just wrapping up JAKE, book 3 in this Wyoming Sky series. Lots of loose ends to tie up, and I want them all neat and tidy before it goes to my editor.
A Wyoming Sky Novel ...
The Truth Can Be an Irresistible Temptation . . .
As a young boy, Quinn Conway was shattered by his mother's mysterious disappearance. Today, as the oldest of the Conway brothers, his only concern is protecting his family and their ranch. One look at beautiful, strong-willed Cheyenne O'Brien tells him she's also no stranger to tragedy. A series of increasingly dangerous "accidents" are plaguing her and her land, and Quinn can't stand idly by while a woman is in danger. Fiercely independent, Cheyenne isn't one to lean on others, yet she can't deny her attraction to the rugged rancher offering help. Soon, the passion building between them proves as wild and untamed as the land she loves-and just as impossible to resist. But a relentless enemy is about to make one final devastating move. To survive, Quinn and Cheyenne must put their cherished freedom-and their hearts-at risk . . .

Katie Lane's interest in romance was sparked in high school in the backseat of a '65 mustang-okay, so maybe it wasn't romance as much as raging teenage hormones. Still, coupled with a wild imagination, those make-out sessions inspired many a steamy storyline along with a strong belief that true love does prevail. Katie lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with the owner of that mustang and would love to hear from her readers.

Widow gets evicted from mansion and returns to her childhood trailer where a good ol’ boy neighbor and 4 orphans will add to her troubles.
What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I love scenes with the town of Bramble. Those folks just tickle me pink.
If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead), who would you choose and why?
Paul the Apostle—Did you ever have a bad writing day and felt uninspired? Shakespeare—Why did you let Romeo swallow the poison? J.K. Rowling—Couldn’t you have given Snape one girlfriend?

Hunk for the Holidays will be out September 2012. And I just finished the fourth book in my Deep in the Heart of Texas series. Trouble in Texas will be out December 2012.
Shirlene Dalton has it all: a dream marriage to a man who spoils her rotten and the most outrageous mansion Bramble, Texas, has ever seen. But when her husband unexpectedly dies, Shirlene finds herself right back where she started-in a rundown trailer on the wrong side of the tracks. Never the type to let a little bad luck and a whole heap of heartache get her down, Shirlene is ready to prove to the local gossips she can make it on her own . . . until she ends up living next door to the most tempting cowboy in town.
Billy Wilkes has a score to settle and a plan to wipe Bramble right off the map. But when his sexy, redheaded neighbor figures out what he’s up to, his good ol’ boy charm won’t be enough to save him. With the town on his tail, Billy will have to come clean quick-or kiss Shirlene goodbye.

What I love most about western romances is how close to home they are for me seeing as how I grew up with cowboy/cowgirl lifestyle. It's home for me!

I love western romances too. I live in the south, so there are a lot of cowboys around our little town.
ReplyDeleteI love cowboys...they are so sexy...
ReplyDeleteThanks for a fun post and giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love western romances b/c I love how different they are. Rules and etiquette and even the "romance" is in a different flavor. I guess since the impression is that the cowboys are more rugged and tough and masculine, their attention is that much more romantic :)
I like the settings so different from where I live and the tough people who live there.
ReplyDeleteI just like the hard life they lead. They work hard, play hard, and love hard. There's not so many rules to follow where love is concerned.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much to like about cowboys! Not only their farmer tans, and usually rugged good looks, but their work ethic is admirable. Just love it!
ReplyDeleteI love cowboys too! They are the perfect heroes to write about. Just wanted to stop by and wish everyone luck in the giveaway. Hope you like Catch Me a Cowboy. And thanks, Dani, for the fun interview. Great questions.
ReplyDeleteI love cowboys because well whats not to love :)!!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about Western Romances is the cowboys!!! Strong, sexy, confident.
ReplyDeleteI love the strong, rugged, cowboys with their jeans, boots and cowboy hats, the horses and ranches and their do-good attitude, ready to help out the damsel in distress.

I love the Cowboys!!! I love the attitude, the chivalry, the "Yes Ma'am " (in a drawl), I love the hat, boots, body. What is not to love?!?!

I love the cowboys. I love what they wear(cowboy hats & boots), they are gentlemen, ride horses, and so sexy. I am a lover of horses also and that is another reason I love western romances. This book sounds awesome and would love to win and read.

I love reading western romances because the characters are down to earth, hard working people. They are sincere about who and what they are, plus I love reading about the countryside.
ReplyDeleteI like to read cowboy stories because a man in a cowboy hat and boots, tight jeans makes my breath hitch. Cowboys work hard and play harder. Plus a good cowboy knows what to do with a rope. :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading the interviews.

i think my favorite thing is that it reminds me of when i was growing up. I grew up in Wyoming/Montana and knew ALOT of cowboys,i also spent Saturdays watching westerns with my Dad. it was one of the few things that we did that we connected to each other thru. John Wayne is still my favorite. i also was introduced to westerns (books) by my Dad. although they were not technically romance they always had some in them. they were the Louis L'Amour books. I still have all of them today and still read them.
ReplyDeleteBesides all of that what's not to love about a cowboy? :D

I like the cowboys and their protectiveness.
ReplyDeleteI love cowboys and the way they protect whats theirs thanks for the great giveaway.my email is butterfli262002@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI love the cowboys and the fact that westerns take place in the country. There's horseback riding and roping, sexy romantic skinny-dipping in a pond and when I'm reading a western I can actually hear the deep southern drawl :)
ReplyDeleteI love that men in westerns are real men with tough, no-nonsense attitudes, but they always stand up for their family and love.
