Interview with Author Carrie Ann Ryan and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author Carrie Ann Ryan. Carrie Ann is celebrating her recent release of Dust of My Wings, and has stopped by to answer a few questions. Before we get to the interview, lets get to know a bit about Carrie Ann.

Carrie Ann Ryan is a bestselling paranormal and contemporary romance author. After spending too much time behind a lab bench, she decided to dive into the romance world and find her werewolf mate - even if its just in her books. Happy endings are always near - even if you have to get over the challenges of falling in love first.

Her first book, An Alpha's Path, is the first in her Redwood Pack series. She's also an avid reader and lover of romance and fiction novels. She loves meeting new authors and new worlds. Any recommendations you have are appreciated. Carrie Ann lives in New England with her husband and two kittens.

Places to find Carrie Ann:

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
Hi, thank you so much for having me. I'm a paranormal romance author who loves happy endings. I started off in my life as a chemist and found out the chemistry behind a book and its characters was more fulfilling.

Did you always want to be a writer?
No, it hadn’t entered my mind. I'd always had stories in my head and characters who spoke to me. But I didn't realize what they were until recently. But I'm so glad I did.

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
I'm a heavy plotter. I have outlines of my outlines and spreadsheets of my spreadsheets. But even though that may stifle some, I love the ability to know where I'm going and now it can change if I needed to. My brain works to faster my fingers sometimes and plotting helps me. But I never plot myself into a corner, things can evolve and change they need to.

Where do your ideas come from?
Everywhere. I don't really know. Sometimes all it takes is a picture and the thought of the character and a way to make them interact with another. It really all just comes from everywhere, I'm not sure. If I could bottle the stuff up and make sure I always have it with me, I would.

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
Okay! Here is Dust of My Wings: Dante’s Circle Book 1:
An angel sent to earth to protect his brethren, and the woman who could stand in his way. It could only take a spark to uncover the unknown.

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
I love all types of romance. I don't really have a specific job are in there that I read solely. I read just about everything. But I love the stories where it's more than just a miscommunication. I love it there someone on the outside trying to break them apart but isn't a malicious jealous ex. As long as the characters are rich in personality and can come together and actually speak to one another, I'm happy.

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
I have so many, I read over 5000. But I will say that I will read everything from Lauren Dane and Maya Banks. No matter what their rights or what series they find themselves in, I find myself immersed.

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
It used to be the action scenes, but then I decided to let myself go and just write. For me it's beginning when the characters don't love each other yet and they don't know how to react. I'm just like them, how would I react if I didn't know this person. I find myself as uncomfortable as they do sometimes but I think it aids the story because my voice is the same as theirs.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
Oh I don't know, this will probably change tomorrow. But Lauren Dane, because I see her on Twitter and I read her books and I just want to sit by her and see if anything could rub off on me. I love the husband and wife team that make up Ilona Andrews. There are blogs and Twitter streams to each other are freaking hilarious. I'm sure they would make dinner worth it. And my third? Probably Shiloh Walker, because she so interesting and mysterious that I want to know more.

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Oh yes, I'm working on everything. I have three series that are coming out at the same time so I'm always writing. I have more Redwood Pack coming out, with Adam’s story being the next. Dust of My Wings is the first book in the Dante’s Circle series and I have six more coming after that. Plus I have a five book series called Holiday, Montana that I'm working on. There's much more after that but right now I'm focusing on these three.

Thank you so much for having me and I hope you enjoyed it. Below is a little bit of my current release, Dust of My Wings. I hope you get a chance to enjoy Shade and Lily’s story. I'll be here all day if you have questions for me, I'd love to hear from you.

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Neat freak lab tech, Lily Banner lives her life as any ordinary human. She’s dedicated to her work and loves to hang out with her friends at Dante’s Circle, their local bar. When she discovers a strange blue dust at work she meets a handsome stranger holding secrets – and maybe her heart. But after a close call with a thunderstorm, she may not be as ordinary as she thinks.

Shade Griffin is a warrior angel sent to Earth to protect the supernaturals’ secrets. One problem, he can’t stop leaving dust in odd places around town. Now he has to find every ounce of his dust and keep the presence of the supernatural a secret. But after a close encounter with a sexy lab tech and a lightning quick connection, his millennia old loyalties may shift and he could lose more than just his wings in the chaos.

Places to Purchase:

“Hi.” Shade smiled and tilted his head.

“Hi,” she breathed.

“You look beautiful, Lily.” He tucked a stray hair behind her ear and she shivered.

“You do too.” She blushed again. Soon she’d be Crayola red. “I mean you look handsome.”

He traced her jaw with a calloused finger. “Thank you. Are you ready to go?”

She swallowed hard. “Uh huh.”

Okay, she really had to remember the English language. This was getting embarrassing.

“Okay then.” He trailed his hand down her arm and wrapped his palm around hers. His warm skin felt like heaven against hers.

She shook her head, clearing her thoughts. How was she supposed to get through a whole date if she couldn’t even formulate thoughts to get out of the door?

With a nod, she gripped his hand tighter and closed the door behind her. He led her to his bike and she smiled.

“I love it, Shade.”

He gave a huge grin. “Thanks. This is my baby. No matter where I am, I try and take her with me.” He rubbed the leather seat and an irrational urge to knock the bike down went through her.

She would not be jealous of a motorcycle. Would not.
