I LOVE novellas as long as hey can be purchased in paperback.
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed short stories and novellas, they're great for those times I don't have a lot of time but want to read a complete story. And they're great for getting a taste of an author's work, especially in anthologies.

ReplyDeleteI prefer a full length story; cos I like a longer story! Tho I have read a few novellas that felt very complete & not in the least rushed.

I also like them because sometimes they are that inbetween story, sometimes you need a fix befor the next full length story. They also give some of the secondary their story and HEA. Thanks for the giveaway. Big fan of vicki's and her great stories.

I have a love/hate relationship with novellas, I love having something I can read from start to finish in a short amount of time. I hate that it is so easy to do them badly. It's easy with a novella to leave out to much just to rush to the end.On the other hand when done well they give you that HEA fix in a shorter time frame and sometimes you just need that. FYI: A SEASON FOR SIN is a prequel to a new series that I have coming out in spring 2013. I wanted to give readers an advance glimpse of the new characters and how they meet while I was writing the full length novels in my upcoming SINFUL SCOUNDRELS series. It takes much longer to produce the full length novels. This particular e-novella ends on a hook rather than the usual Happily Ever After, because that occurs in the full length book. Anyway, just so you know what to expect. I had a lot of fun writing the e-novella and hope you all will enjoy it. Best of all, it's only $.99. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like them, but it depends on the story sometimes they are a waste and you think what the heck and others they are just the topping you needed.
ReplyDeleteI like novellas... they feel like a much needed break after reading a more lengthy story. I do think sometimes they aren't long enough depending on the kind of story since some should be longer, but I do still really enjoy them.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love novellas. I read a lot of them in anthologies and have in fact discovered some of my fav authors this way! It is also a great way for an author to tell a short story about a character in another book or series that is not a main but whose story is clamoring to be let out...

ReplyDeleteI love novellas. Especially when it's about a character I feel didn't get enough story time. I also like the fact that they are quick and easy to read, so I can manage to read it while riding in the car!

I love Novellas. I usually get them when they correspond with a series I am following...as long as they are not astronomically priced anyway. They usually add a little something extra!
