USA TODAY bestselling author Cari Quinn wrote her first story--a bible parable--in 2nd grade, much to the delight of the nuns at her Catholic school. Once she saw the warm reception that first tale garnered, she was hooked. She attempted her first romance in junior high, long before she'd ever read one. Writing what she knew always took a backseat to what she wanted to know, and that still holds true today.
Though she also fires up her computer as a graphic designer, proofreader and editor, she can't resist the lure of disappearing into a world of her own creation. Now she gets to pen sexy romances for a living and routinely counts her lucky stars.
The only thing she loves more than writing is hearing from readers!
Places to find Cari:
Thank you for having me here today! My hero Dillon James from NO FLOWERS REQUIRED decided he wanted the microphone…err, the keyboard…and when he talks, I listen. Well, usually!
That Cari refuses to cut me some slack. She’s always trying to get me to do things her way. Can you believe she even thought I had long hair when she first started writing my story? A couple of good conversations and I set her straight. I’m no Fabio and don’t have time to mess with my fluffy locks. Just as well she learns now that I can’t be bossed around and told what to do. Unless the woman doing the telling is Alexa Conroy—and even then, only certain subjects apply. I’d also say it depends what she’s wearing, but that doesn’t always go over so well with the ladies. Moving on.
In No Flowers Required, I do some things I’m not proud of. I only want to help Alexa—and show my occasionally heartless brother than his chest isn’t just a holding cavity for a useless organ--but I lead her to believe some pretty self-serving things.
Why would I do something so heinous? Well, put it to you this way. Our first major conversation was on the rooftop of her apartment building. It was raining, we were both dealing with some serious lust and running from our own demons—not real ones, this isn’t some oogie-boogie paranormal romance—and Alexa was wearing a tiny, skintight tank top that dipped low and showed off her—
Where was I? *phone rings* Shoot, I have to get out of here. Duty calls and all that. This was really fun…hope you give my book a read, though I don’t particularly appreciate that Quinn chick airing all my laundry. Though, seriously, you might want to start with that rooftop scene. Just make sure you turn up the fan on high.

He’ll give her everything she desires...except his identity.
Flower shop owner Alexa Conroy had it all before the recession hit and her customers fled to cheaper shopping grounds. Desperate to make ends meet, she sells her dream home and moves into the rundown apartments above her shop. When she spots six feet of sexy distraction—complete with muscles, piercings, and tattoos—ripping up flooring, Alexa knows the karmic windfall she’s due just landed on her doorstep.
And the attraction’s definitely not one-sided.
Dillon James, reluctant heir to the corporation about to foreclose on Alexa’s shop, is not about to jeopardize their scorching chemistry by admitting he’s not the building’s handyman. But with only weeks until her business goes under and his identity is revealed, Dillon must find a way to convince Alexa cooperation isn’t a dirty word, help her save the shop from his brother’s greed, and persuade her that he’s not the enemy...or risk losing the only woman who’s seen the real him.

Loved Dillon/Cari's post. I can't wait to read this book!
ReplyDeleteThe description on this sounds great and I always love handyman type guys (even if he really is the owner of the building).
ReplyDeleteHahahah, he told you how he wore his hair. How can you argue with that?!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds so good. I normally go the Paranormal route when I read, but this has been added to the TBR list. Great interview!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the release. Do you need to read the first book before this one, or is it able to stand alone.
ReplyDeleteHey June. I'm Cari's crit partner. =) I can answer that. This is book 2 in the series, but it definitely stands alone. You do get to see Nellie and Jake in this story as supporting characters from No Dress Required, but it's not a big part of the plot.
DeleteSo glad Dillon set you straight on the hair! :) I like my men with short hair. He sounds like my kind of man. Can't wait to read this book!
ReplyDelete*snicker*
ReplyDeleteI love Dillon and must admit, I miss his long hair. heh.
And the rooftop scene? SCORCHING isn't a hot enough word. *faints*
Hi everyone! *waves* Thanks so much for having me to visit today and thanks also to all who stopped by! :) Dillon and his hair entertained me throughout writing this book! While I usually prefer short-haired guys myself, it can be fun to mix it up now and then, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteAnd Taryn, thank you for answering June's question. June, she's absolutely right. Reading No Dress Required first is helpful for adding in a little backstory, but not necessary.
Good luck in the contest! :)
Sometimes, no, every time, I feel like Murphy's Law was made because of me. I keep waiting for the days when karma bites them back. I'd love a story where karma works out for the best for the girl who is always hurt.
ReplyDeleteLove the big "guy"/corporation versus the "everyday"/shopowner theme! Dillon sounds sooo yum...a terrific hero for Alexa and love totally must win!
