Guest Post with Author Cassandra Carr

Today I would like to welcome back to RFTC author Cassandra Carr. Cassandra is on tour for her book Double Vision and has stopped by to chat. Please give Cassandra a warm welcome.

So who am I? I've been writing my whole life, but only decided to pursue writing as a career in the past couple of years. I'm lucky to have an incredibly supportive husband named Inspiration who brings home the bacon so I can stay home and fry it (and eat it all before he's able to fight through the rush hour traffic - I'm mean that way, but like I always say, don't get between a woman and her bacon).

I live in Western New York with Inspiration and our young daughter, Too Cute for Words. I'm a major hockey fan, which explains why many of my heroes are hockey players. If you haven't looked at the guys playing the sport today, search for some images. You won't be disappointed.

I'm a member of the leading professional association for romance novelists, Romance Writers of America, and also serve as President of my local chapter, newsletter editor for Passionate Ink, and am a member of ESPAN. I've met so many interesting people through these organizations and highly recommend them to any aspiring writer!

As you can see, my life is pretty busy, but I try to take as much time as I can to write. And re-write. And re-write. It's a never-ending, vicious circle, and I love it!

Five Reasons I Write Menage Romances

Someone asked me the other day why I write in the particular sub-genres that I do. My simple answer? Because I like them. But it oftentimes goes deeper than that. Since Double Vision, the third book in my Buffalo Intimidators menage series just released, I started to think about why I write menage romances.

1. I was a psych major and the possible elements inherent in a menage - jealousy, fear, etc fascinate me.

2. Writing menage is entirely different than writing a strictly m/f or m/m (or f/f) story - the plots, the emotional factors, the driving forces - everything is different.

3. I like doing stick figure drawings of the sex scenes to figure out where all the limbs go. And then traumatizing my husband with them.

4. When you get a menage right, it feels like the love is "bigger" (can't think of a better word for it) than with a two-person story.

5. Um, hello? Two or three hot heroes instead of one? Sign me up!

I'm a person who gets bored easily and who needs different experiences when I'm writing, so doing stories in several different subgenres works for me. I'm also a writer who loves loves loves my heroes, so getting to a HEA for two or three of them at once is tremendously satisfying. And the sex is hot!

What more could I want?

Why do you like writing or reading menage romances?

Everything Red knew about relationships is called into question when he stumbles upon his roommate Fredrik and his girlfriend Liz going at it hot and heavy and Liz invites him to join them. Struggling with recovering from a knee injury, the young defenseman doesn't know what to make of his attraction to Liz--after all, she's his teammate's woman, right?

As an older player, Fredrik's been around the rink a time or ten, and he knows he has an awesome thing going with Liz. He envisions a future with her, but isn't sure how their interludes with Red fit into the long-term picture.

Liz thinks Fredrik's her forever-guy, but her sudden attraction to Red is causing doubts. The more they play together in the bedroom, the more their outside lives--and emotions-- become entangled. When the unthinkable happens, all three must take a hard look at what they want and make some surprising decisions in the process.

  1. I can just see you diagramming a menage! I think what makes it tantalizing is the taboo nature of a threesome, and in a M/F/M menage, the focus is totally on the woman -- she has two hot guys catering to her.
