Guest Post with Nona Raines and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to RFTC author, Nona Raines. Nona is on tour promoting her novella One Good Man and has stopped by to chat. Please give Nona a warm welcome.

Nona Raines became hooked on romances when she first picked up "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen Woodiwiss (and she's not telling how long ago that was). Romances may have changed since then, but her love for a good love story has not. She's been writing off and on for years, but it was only when she joined the Central New York Romance Writers Association that she finally gained the support and confidence she needed to complete a manuscript.

Nona lives in upstate New York with her many pets and is currently working on her next novel. A former librarian, she enjoys reading books of all genres and discussing them with others. She is thrilled to finally be able to call herself an author and looks forward to hearing from readers.

Leaving the Comfort Zone

Thanks so much for having me here today! I'm so happy to be talking about my erotic romance One Good Man. It's the story of librarian Andie Benedetto and Matthew Vostek. Andie's been attracted to and curious about Matthew since she's first seen him. But she's involved with someone else, so curiosity is all she's allowed. When her current relationship falls flat, though, all bets are off.

Let me tell you more about the book:

Just one touch...that’s all Andie Benedetto wants when she glimpses her father’s sexy neighbor. Images of deep, long kisses and down and dirty sex heat up her fantasies. When he catches her watching him, she’s embarrassed but undeniably turned on.

Just one weekend...that’s all Matthew Vostek can offer Andie. He recognizes her shyness, but also senses her desire, the same desire he feels. Maybe they can fulfill each other’s hottest fantasies.

Just an adventure...that’s what Andie tells herself. Tired of playing the good girl, she’s ready to accept Matthew’s challenge and enjoy the most exciting sexual escapade of her life. But when the weekend is over, will Andie finally take what she wants instead of settling for second best?

The question is will Andie have the courage to follow her desires? She's reserved and has issues about her weight and appearance. She's stayed in a stagnant relationship because she thinks she can't do any better. When that relationship falls apart, she realizes that it's her turn to make a choice, instead of letting someone else take the reins. She has to overcome her lack of confidence to take a chance at life—step way out of her comfort zone—and make a move on her father's sexy next-door neighbor.

Let's face it, from time to time we've all experienced self doubt. The question is how much do we let our fears rule our lives? In my own life, I struggled with my fears of not "making it" as a writer—so much so that I had trouble even completing a manuscript. I had to decide that no one could solve my problem but me. I had to finish what I started, risk rejection and disapproval, if I really wanted to pursue my dream. For me things worked out. Okay, I'm not a best-seller by any means, but I am a published author—something I've always wanted to be.

Have you ever stepped outside your comfort zone and taken a chance on something? How did it work out for you? Please comment for a chance to win a digital copy of One Good Man. I look forward to your replies!

  1. I have stepped out of my comfort zone and taken a chance many times. It hasn't always worked out, but in the long run I was better for taking a chance.

    1. Hi Molly, I agree that even if things don't work out the way we hope, we grow from taking that chance. We get a little bit stronger and braver every time we try. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  2. I'm normally not a risk taker. I'm happy with my life chugging along as it is.
This book sounds like a winner. Can't wait to read it.

    1. Joann, I'm not much of a risk taker either. I can't quite understand people who hang glide or go bungee jumping. But even people like us take risks when we want something badly enough! Thanks a lot for commenting!

  3. I am not a risk taker but when I do take a risk it is more of a calculated risk...if that makes sense. Sometimes it doesn't work out the way I think it will work out but it is ok. Other times it works out better than I hoped. I think it is always better to take the chance than to wonder "what if?".
This book sounds like a topic many women can relate to! Thank you for the giveaway!

    1. Hi Pheonix (what a great name)! I agree that it's important to weigh the consequences of any risk. You don't want to rush off in a foolhardy way. But I think you're right too about not wanting to regret the chance not taken. Thank you for your comment.

  4. I went out on a blind date with a cowboy and at the time I couldn't stand country music cowboy hats, etc. I ended up marrying the guy 4.5 years later! We have been married for 15.5 years now so yep it worked out great!

    Thanks so much!

  8. For me my weight has been an issue. So, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try to lose the pounds. Thankfully I have been successful. I still feel uncomfortable about my body and find that I still dress like I'm plus size, but I'm a work in progress!

    1. Congratulations on your weight loss, Patricia. That's something I struggle with, too. It's a tough one, but it sounds like you're winning the battle. Your effort to step outside your comfort zone has really paid off! Thanks so much for the comment.

  9. Oh I love the concept of this story. Wish I had a neighbor like Matthew. I have taken a little step out of my comfort zone and am trying to become an author. It might not seem like much of a risk, but for me it is. I'm a kinda shy and not real outgoing. I like reading erotic romance novels and live through those I read about in the stories. I decided to try and write my own book. I kept having these dreams with names and then seeing them doing things so I'd wake up and write it all down. I haven't submitted anything yet, they books are still unfinished.

    1. Julianne, I was in the same boat as you a few years ago when I decided to try writing my own romance. I think many authors are shy and more comfortable with our own imagination than the outside world. I hope you finish your books and submit them, and I wish you the best of luck! If I did it, you can do it. Thanks for stopping by. And don't forget to fill out the rafflecopter thingie above!

    1. Laurie, I admire you because any kind of science is far beyond me. It's great that you wanted to take the course in spite of your learning difficulties and did better than others thought you could. You sound like a woman of determination! Congratulations on not letting others talk you out of something you wanted and thanks for the comment.
