I was born and raised in a small town in lower Michigan. A farmer's daughter, my greatest ambitions were to become a large animal vet and to read every book ever written. The veterinarian dream fell by the wayside, but I'm still working on reading every book I can get my hot little hands on.But I'm a dreamer...I love to sit and look out the windows, daydreaming about what could be. I love getting tangled in my dreams when I fall asleep at night. That is how Keeper of the Golden Dragon's Heart came to be. It started with a dream and spun into something beautiful.Keeper of the Golden Dragon's Heart is my first published book. Creating a paranormal world was such an incredible feeling that I decided this book would be the start of a series.
Places to find Gemma:
My name is Gemma K. Murray and I’m a published author. I wish I could explain to you how the dragonflies dance in my tummy when I type those two words together: published author. I never dreamed I would be here with two books published and another five that I’m working on.
About twelve years ago, I sat on my mother-in-law’s sofa, disheartened and depressed. I was upset because I had had a moment of realization and it wasn’t good. I had lost one of the most important people in my life and my life was in upheaval. I realized that I had no way to leave a mark on this world when I left it. My husband looked at me and asked, “What do you want to do? How do you want to leave a mark?” I was dumbfounded. In all the years we’d been married, he’d never asked me that. I’d always been a stay at home wife whose world revolved around him and our canine kids. Now, this man was standing in front of me, asking what my dream was and I had no idea what to say. The first thought that popped into my head was “Write.” “So, write. What’s stopping you?” he asked.
What was stopping me? Sheer fear would have been a good answer. Fear of being told I wasn’t good enough. Fear of being told I was good enough. Fear ate at me. But do you want to know what was stopping me? I was. I was the only thing standing in my way.
I bought paper and pens. I wrote. Every single day stories poured out of me. To this day, there are over 40 manuscripts sitting in a cabinet, waiting for me to revisit the stories and perfect them. Unfortunately, it took me another 7 years to get out of my own way.
I had a dream and it was crazy. There was the dragon shifter and he was in love with the woman who was a witch/puma shifter. There was a group of people who were coming to this town to hurt the community. This dream haunted me day and night. So, I wrote it down. I thought, “Well, there, it’s out of my system. I can get back to my style of writing (which was contemporary).” I was wrong. The woman in the story demanded I write more and more. This is how Keeper of the Golden Dragon’s Heart came to be. When I finished that story, I intended to put it aside and keep writing what I wanted to write. But Ana kept bothering me, so I sent it off to publishers who said, “Thanks, but no thanks.” I asked a friend to take a look at it and see what she thought. That is how Keeper of the Golden Dragon’s Heart became published. I was determined to return to my “normal” romances, but Adam Thomas from Natural Born Enemies stepped forward and said, “I’m next.” I love writing my Cedar River series. I love writing urban fantasy/paranormal romance. I love it all. At this point, I may never return to my contemporary romances. *grin*
Cedar River, Michigan is a wonderful place to fall in love. Some people see change as a good thing, but there are a few others who can’t let go of the “old ways.” “Breeds should stay within their breeds,” they say.
Adam Thomas is the deputy sheriff in Cedar River. His black puma shifter side got him released from the military and sent back home. His demons followed, but they are nothing compared to the ones within his pride.
Luna McIntyre is the only daughter and shaman to the McIntyre pack. She is tired of being smothered and told what to do in regards to her life. She’s opened a sweet shop and moved forward with her life. However, the love of her teen years is back in town and her family is trying to rein her in again.
Someone in this small town is so set in their beliefs that they can’t see how love is sometimes simply love. Cats and canines may be natural born enemies, but love may be enough to get past the differences.

I’ll never forget the first look I got of Adam. He wore his bad attitude like a well-worn pair of jeans. Gods, I wanted to be the woman to tame his wild side. The anger radiated off him in waves, but I knew in my heart that he was simply hurting.
Every year since I could remember, the pack and the pride would lay aside their differences and would help with the clearing of downed trees in the woods between the two lands. Roman Pierce recruited Adam to help. He was a young and able body. His lanky muscles bunched and relaxed with each piece of wood he tossed into the waiting trailers. My mouth still waters at that memory. Then, Adam got arrested. My dad warned me to stay away from Adam, but there was something about that young man. I started to make excuses to go into town with my girlfriends in hopes of catching his eye.
“He’s nothing but bad news, Luna,” my friend, Maria, said.
“If that’s what bad news looks like, you can deliver it to me every day,” was my reply.
Adam’s black hair was always in his eyes, but when those piercing green eyes turned my way, I felt my insides melt. A mere glance from the Pierce Pride bad boy sent my heart racing. I would watch him in the halls at school and on the football field. His speed made him the best receiver on the Cedar River Miners. I’d watch him on the side lines palling around with “Bodacious” Bowie Golden. Those two together were enough to make a girl’s panties drop with a simple smile.
